  1. Anyone going to Americade next week. I will be there late Wed pm until Fri noon. Hearthstone point campground site 88. Or look for a blue and black RSTD with a blue fairing.
  2. Midnight Venture 2006 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Check Yamaha site for dealer info. Bike may not be listed on web site, email or call......... I have no connection with bike or dealer. Cb
  3. Just wanted to chime in, I have noticed a lil poping on decel and the engine seemed a lil rough at cruising speed. After reading several post I was thinking time to check the carb sync, called my local STEALER who wants $85 to sync them up (freaking nuts). After watching on this site I saw a post about the price of the morgan carbtune pro being lower due to the exchange rate so I pulled the trigger and got the carbtune pro with case for 93 otd. Rocket fast shipping 8 days to northern michigan, then came my problem. I have always said I am a jack of all trades master of none lol and have done my share of wrenching but when it comes to something new I always get a lil nervous. I have to say this site is so beyond worth the 12 bucks with all the write ups and pictures it was actually a breeze. I took my time, made several adjustments and got them just about perfect, should have took pictures but camera was dead, man what a difference!!! Now I guess this is a big thank you message and a question, does $85 sound right to have a dealer do this? I mean even with a miller lite break it didnt take more than 40 mins so just wondering if they were trying to bend me over. And as far as the thank yous that is for everyone on this site and to Don just have to say you have created so much more than just a website here, I would have been lost and paying for what was a fairly simple job. I will be a member here till the end!!!! Well enough rambling just had to say how happy i was to find this site!!
  4. My trip to byran Tx is being pushed back a few months. so, for those of you I chatted with about coming through, and stopping for coffee, we'll have to hold that thought. I was riding out to sit at a court trial, for a Fellow rider Killed by a drunk driver. So, Our friend Jim, doesn't get any justice, and his family has to go on waiting, to hang the little bastard Subject: Info on Petcock killer trial from (Club name removed): I spoke with Kelly today and over this past weekend. She has been in contact with the victim's assistance coordinator at the DA's office. I also got off the phone with the victim's assistance coordinator in the DA's office this morning and she confirmed that the pre-trial / trial is NOT going to be on the dates listed on the web site. The trial may not even occur this year. Yeah, that's right, Jim's been dead for over a year and his murderer still gets to run around loose possibly for another year. The young lady in the DA's office told me the dates on the web site Brad sent are meant to be tentative dates and the web site is updated by a completely different office. She did say that as the date is firmed up, the wording "Preferential Jury Trial" will replace "Jury Trial", as that means the case has been moved to the top of the list and the date has been confirmed. So, basically it looks like everything is on hold until we get further info.-Doc

  6. Hello to all the VentureRider Members, This is Jean, Earl's wife. Earl injured his back a few weeks ago while working on a motorcycle for one of the members of the site. We had a really bad rain Friday, May 7th and he fell down the front porch stairs during the storm. I took him for a MRI on Monday, May 10th and he has ruptured a disk between L4 and L5 in his back. He is in a lot of pain and on some heavy duty pain meds. right now. If he is supplying parts for you, please be patient with him as he is bed ridden right now. I will be checking his emails daily, and will try my best to make sure that parts he has ordered for anyone are shipped in a timely manner. At this time, he is not able to sit up at the computer, but I will relay questions to him and return answers as they come. Everything in the classifieds for sale will be shipped until supplies run out. We have plenty of the batteries for the First Gens. and Second Gens. as well as most of the other items. We are hoping he will have a corrective surgery in the next few weeks and he will be back on his feet very soon. I have been following the problem with the Clutch Spring and as soon as the new springs arrive I will do my best to ship everyone a new spring as soon as I get them. If your bike is at Earl's shop for repairs, please contact me and I will let you know where he is in the repair process. We are both very sorry for this disruption in the services he provides, and I will do my best to continue to be of service to the members of this site. Your thoughts and prayers would be most helpful during this time, He so enjoys the friendships he had made on this site. It breaks my heart to see him in such pain, and to be deprived of the joy he receives from helping the members of this site. Please take a moment and say a prayer for him, I am so worried. Jean
  7. Put in an order for the progressive fork springs...there on the way...one of the boys here at work mentioned the use of Dextron VI (transmission fluid) in lieu of 10wt fork oil. I took a peek on my greatest reference tool (this site) and found little info on the subject. It would appear that some folks have done it but I'm just wondering what the ramifications, if any, there are or would be. Plse chime in......
  8. Any one put rk mufflers on the fist gen ? need some brackets or know how to make them. Looked on the site and could not find any, all that i found was on 2nd gen.
  9. I have met some really sharp folks in my life and I have also found that many of these people are poor spellers. I am reasonably good, but I still screw up sometimes. Several years ago I downloaded a site called ieSpell that is free and it works very good. So. for those of you that have a tough time spelling, you ought to give it a try. RandyA
  10. I just wanted to thank him for selling us a set of stock Venture mufflers for our RSTD. We just bought our bike and it had Roadhouse mufflers on it that sounded great but we wanted a nice quiet bike. He showed us a lot of things about our bike that we didn't know and he told/showed me how to switch out the pipes and it was a piece of cake thanks to knowing ahead of time what to do. We LOVE the bike now. Everybody else we've talked to has also been a big help to us navagating the site, etc. This is the best $12 we've ever spent. This site rocks! Joe N Linda PS, how do we post pic of our bike?
  11. Anybody know if something is going on with Buckeye Performance? I've been trying to access their website http://www.buckeyeperformance.com this morning and it just doesn't seem to be there. Can anyone else get on that site? Also, I noticed that Rick's membership has expired. Hmmmm.....hope he's still around. A friend of mine needs one of his high output stators. EDIT: Never mind.....site is working now. Must have been a temp glitch.
  12. New to the site and RSTD. Great info on this site. Barons folks tell me the riser extension will not work on a RSTD. Has anyone used this extension on a RSTD? Is there another option for creating a more comfortable handlebar position? Steve
  13. Just got an e-mail from Joshua over at Bohannon Battery. They launched a new web site with all the info on the DEKA ETX18L AGM battery. Just about everything that you would want to know about it. http://www.etx18l.com/ Of course our member here Earl, aka Skydoc_17 is now carrying a line of DEKA's also but if you got questions before you buy.....this site should answer them. Mike
  14. Avon has a rebate going on at their web site. http://www.avonmoto.com/
  15. I let my membership in the Venturers site lapse, and now would like to visit some of the friends I made there, but can't sign back up, keep getting "No input file specified" when I click on most pages. Can't get anywhere to sign up again. I posted about this earlier, and someone offered to contact the management of that site for me but I lost the info. If someone has contacts there and can help with this, let me know. And thanks to VentureRider MGMT for being friendly about my questions about:happy65: this "rival" site. I will always be here, but like to spread the love around!
  16. in Decatur Alabama this past week. Because of this site, a couple of great people came to my rescue by getting some pics of a piece of equipment in Decatur Al. I'm in Ohio and murph35640 in Decatur bailed me out by getting the pics and emailing them to me. As luck would have it, I had to go to Tennessee and Mississippi this week so on the way back I stopped in Decatur and met Murph35640 and his wife. Timing was perfect, I got in town just in time to take them to dinner at O'Charleys, the best steak in town. Bottom line - you meet some of the nicest people on the Venture Rider site !! THANKS Murph for all your help. Dick aka - Adventure 1943
  17. I believe that I read some where here that a pinstriper was going to be at maintenance day this year so i was wondering if any body had any info or a web site?
  18. Cb in M/H. Sorry for my late reply. I used all my Wifi data card for last month. The site that has a foot after you cut off the end is www.motorwerk.com . I just tried it and the site worked. Go to Kaw., then the Versys. I purchased the bike two weeks ago and have already lowered the front and rear. I purchased BOTH stand kits ... the large one dosn't really fit the Venture but the smaller foot will. It works on hard surfaces but not too sure on gravel. Any questions plase ask....... Cb
  19. Just came across this site ... fairly new. http://canadiancruisercustomizing.com/
  20. just wanted to say that yamaha of camp hill, pa., did me right yesterday....i've decided to try the "I" basket and went to their dealership to discuss it....initially, he said he didn't know anything about it but when i showed him posts on this web site about the "whine"..he called yamaha , they told him it was a legit complaint ....so the part is ordered , no questions asked.....

It is 8:09 AM Central time and I just saw we hit 9000 members!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool10: I want to thank Freebird for all his work keeping this site up and running. I also want to thank all the members without whose help I would be unable to work on my '84. Dave
  23. Does anybody else check this out? I have been checking their reviews of modular helmets and have gotten some good ideas. I also notice that this site is reviewed as follows: VentureRiders: VentureRiders is a very active site and by far the largest site in the world that is dedicated primarily to the Yamaha Venture, Royal Star Venture and Royal Star motorcycles. They also have a number of members that ride other brands as well, so check it out! It seems we get around quite well! Dave
  24. Is anyone else experiencing any problems logging on to PayPal, I have been trying for over an hour and cant get onto the site, system keeps timing out...........I am trying to send Rick Butler a payment.
  25. Is there anyway to be able to get the security protected owners manual .pdf from this site to be able to print? Thanks for the help.
