  1. If anyone out there has a set of 1st gen carbs that need a good home? Let me know. I have an 87 that really needs some good working carbs.
  2. OK folks...some of you may remember that last fall I had posted my plans to do a group purchase of Edset's Headsets. After he told me that he was coming out with a new Third Generation product, I decided to wait. Not only that but to be honest, I've tried a lot of headsets. J&M high and low ends, AirRider which are considered high end and EXPENSIVE, etc. etc. Regardless of if I paid a LOT or just a little, I have never been happy with what I got. So, I have really been on the fence about spending $200.00 for another set that would leave me wanting more. Last week I broke down and ordered a set of Edset's. They came in yesterday and I found time to put them in today. I've got to tell you folks, I think we have a winner. These have the best sound that I have heard from any that I've tried. Bass is pretty good and the music is very clear. Haven't tried them yet for communications but to be honest, that was the least of my concern. I've found that most are fine for communications. He did tell me that the biggest complaint that he gets from new customers is that the mic is sensitive and he has to explain to people that you need to turn down your intercom with these because they don't require the volume that others do. Now here is what I REALLY like about these. They are completely modular. If a speaker goes bad, you unplug and replace it. If the mic goes bad, you unplug and replace it. All connectors for the upper and lower cords are gold plated also. But what I REALLY like is the fact that on the back of the module is a 1/8" speaker jack. You can even buy these without speakers if you want to and plug your earbud speakers into the module. I bought the speakers but also plan to try them with some good earbud speakers. I think it will work GREAT. You can also plug an IPOD or other MP3 player into that same jack if you wish. These are just very versatile. That jack would be a great option for you first gen riders who don't have an auxiliary input. So, I am planning to order another set for my wife's helmet and if there is any interest, I can put together a group purchase at this time. Price will depend upon what you want but the set I bought for an open face helmet with RCA microphone, speakers and speaker pouches came to about $210.00. I think I could get that down to about $180.00 plus shipping if I order 10 or more sets. I would have them all shipped to me and I would cover that shipping. Then to you would probably be about $7.50 or so in the USA. I will have to get a shipping price for Canada. So...if you are interested... now is the time to speak up. To see pictures and options, go to http://www.edsets.com Don
  3. I know this is kinda late before Don's maintenance day, but just thought I'd check while making plans on what to bring: I'm just riding up for the heck of it - nothing I really need, so I am available to help with anything. I know Don has a tire changing machine, so let me know if anyone wants to change tires there so I can bring some balance weights, rim protectors, etc. Windshield mods? I will bring my hole saw - if anyone wants to put in a set of pop vents you have time to order them for delivery to Don's if you do it NOW. Get them from Aircraftspruce.com. I think I have one set of vents I can bring with me. I can also help with cutting down a shield if anyone is interested. I'll bring a hollow-ground blade and hope Don has a jig saw. LED lights (engine highlights, extra brake or signal lights, etc.)? Order them now from JCW or superbrightleds.com for delivery to Don's and they will be there by the weekend. Superbrightleds normally gets stuff here in three days, and JC Whitney is almost a quick for many things. If somebody will tell me what they intend to do with lights I can make sure I have whatever wires, fuses and relays might be necessary. But be quick, I plan on leaving here Wednesday morning, as I gotta run through North Carolina on my way up there to pick up new pipes. Gauges - these are a little trickier, since the problem includes deciding how and where you want to mount them. But I can pick up the 1 7/8" white ones I used on my 07 here, or you can order the black ones from JCW now. Even if we cannot complete mounting them in one day, I can show you how to set everything up - it is quite easy. Mounting air horns, making extensions for the light bar mounting spacers, changing bolts for trunk rack, etc. Most of these are easy, but do require buying a few parts (like bolts) ahead of time. If you tell me what you want, I'll see if I can bring the necessary stuff with me. Don't know if anyone is interested in these offers, but thought it couldn't hurt to ask. Ride safe and see you in a week, Goose
  4. I got a set of new 07 HD mufflers will these be ok without any carb mods or anything else? Joe
  5. Ok folks, I need a bit of help. I purchased a set of floorboards from a member here. Nice transaction. They will be arriving next week. I have searched and cannot find instructions for mounting. Also, I remember seeing a set that had a cross brace under the motor. His set was on his bike when he bought it. No cross brace on the bike. They look to be Venture Line boards. I sure could use a set of instructions. I am sure the parts will only line up one way so I can figure it out. Just want to find things like bolt length to make sure parts are correct. Attached are pics of the boards I am getting and the boards I saw on e-bay with the bar/brace. Pictures marked Left and Right are the items I purchased. JB
  6. I'm on my 4th set of passenger headsets in 4 years. The drivers set which gets used all the time doesn't break. Could there be something in my wiring burning these out? Last ones were IMC-HS-G35U-FIVE PIN OPEN OR FLIP FRONT HELMET HEADSET.
  7. Hey everyone anyone have the muffler brackets for sale or the measurments if you would be willing to give them. I would like to see if my stepson can make me a set in aluminum. If no one wants to give measurement I would be willing to buy a set if made from aluminum or?. Thanks Joe
  8. Check out my Frogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1st set. Look real CLOSE.:rotf:My Daughter found these for Us. Second set when Venture finds a Frog. Frog Wrangler.
  9. Has anyone tried these? I'm thinking of getting a set to help protect will staying cool. http://www.shadetreepowersports.com/cgi-bin/A1A7ECA8/mac/additmdtl.mac/showItemDetail?item=32-94&qtyA=0&phsO=N&desc=FIRST%AE%20SHORT%20CHAPS%20W%2FO%20FRINGE&drpshp=N&alOrd=Y&iQty=.000&oQty=.000&initQty=1&assortParent=N&itemForSale=N&styleName=Click%20here%20to%20view%20sizes&fixD=&face=.00&gftc=&stck=N&prefS=&calledFrom=DS&ordInfo1=&ordInfo2=&ordInfo3=&ordMan1=N&ordMan2=N&ordMan3=N&persCode=&persReqd=&persLink=%20&shipRemaining=0&daysBetween=0&daysBetweenFix=0&monthsBetween=0
  10. Hope someone can help me. I removed my radiator on my 89 venture royale to get to the starter. I cleaned up the starter's interior in regards to the forum for dragging starters. The starter and radiator work perfectly but now the cruise control doesn't work. Any ideas? the indicator light on the handel bars work and the set and resume lights come on and then go off as normal when I turn on the cruise but I can't set the cruise. I checked all the switches on the brakes and clutch. help! paru
  11. I have read that everyone says to put on a set of Progressive springs on the front. I am going to have my forks rebuilt and I wanted to know if this is the time to install them? They go inside of the fork tubes right? Does anyone know where I can get a set and what the part number is? Can I still use the air suspension? Thanks, Kevin
  12. My cruise went out, It is not the fuse I checked. Has anyone else had this trouble. I get no lights and it will not set. Thanks bikerjohn
  13. HI FOLKS... Just received our new YAMAHA official Head sets. Both are installed into our helmets. BOTH work from the rider's jack. When we plug in to the back passanger jack....neither work. So it's somewhere in the wiring to the jack. . What do I do and where do I start my search to fix the rear set??? Thanks to anyone who can help. It looks to me that the trunk has to be removed to get to the wiring. Remove both seats also???? Tom Schoener
  14. In the CP, there is an option to show how many posts to show per thread. Currently, the Maximum shows to be 40. Can this be increased? I have mine set to 40 but would not mind 50 or 100 as an option.
  15. hi all i have a question about the cb on the bike. this past weekend i used my 3/4 face helmet with the headset. i have not used this setup in over 2 years. i normaly use a 1/2 helmet without a hedset. the problem is i could not hear anyone talking on ch19. i ask for a radiocheck several times and never got a come back. i could hear the am/fm thru the hs and dash speakers. the rx icon was on the control head and when i pushed the tx button the icon would come on the control head also. the squech was set at 1 but all i could hear was noise/static. so i set the squech at 2 and the cb was just quite. last nite i had my wife go across the street and talk to me on a handheld cb i could hear her talking just fine thru either the hs or the speakers. but she could not hear me talk all she got was static/ noise everytime i pushed the talk button from either the driver conn. or the passenger conn. are you suppose to hear your voice thru the hs while you are talking/transmitting? yesterday morning i did hear a trucker on the cb thru the dash speakers but i didn't have my helmet with the head set on so i just turned the cb off, to concentrate on mornig rush hour traffic. any ideas. thanks in advance don:(
  16. Hell Friends. Well I finally got home Thursday morning after being gone working for 38 days. After a short nap I took my paperwork to the courthouse and got the Black Beast relicensed.( I had to apply for a rebuild title). I slapped the license plate on, fired her off and went for a 3 hr cruise. Boy did it feel GOOOOOOD to be back on her. As good a bike as the Nomad is it just doesn't compare to a RSV. A couple of the changes that I made that I was wondering about were the handle bars and the front fork springs. I put a set of Flander's bars on and man what a difference. I had the 1 1/2 inch Baron's risers on but these bars are so much better there is no comparison. This should be the bars that Yamaha uses as stock. I cant wait il I can go on an all day run to see how good I will feel. The fork springs were changed out for a set of firmer springs from Sonic Springs. Since I am an agressive rider I wanted a little firmer front fork. I also changed out the fork oil to 10 w oil. Boy did I get a firmer front end. I drove hard down into a couple of corners just to see what would happen when I laid on the front brake. It was amazing. The bike did not try to stand up at all. And the ride??? With 6 lbs of air in the front shocks, I did add a air balance kit also, it rode as smooth and soft as it did when it was new. I took out the rear lowering links and went back to stock when I changed out the rear brake line. I'm not totally happy with the way it sits so I am going to make a set of links that are half way between stock and the Baron's set. When I rode 2 up the mufflers would drag way too much to suit me. I even pumped the air up to 65 psi on the rear shock but it didn't seem to help. I will let ya'll know how that works out. In my rush to get back on the road I have not cleaned her up good yet. As soon as I can get it cleaned and waxed I will post some pics of her. She looks as good as new.
  17. I called Diamond R Accessories to order the swing out arm rests. They are out of stock and they are saying up to 10 weeks due to their suppliers not being able to keep up on the brackets. So, I am looking for a set from somone out there. Anyone???
  18. Quick question. Anyone ever run 404's on their Venture on VR...??? I've read so much about Avon Venoms , and am really thinking about order some new rubber for my 83 VR this week, but also have read enough about some bikes having that squirrley feeling above 80. Have not been able to find a matched set of Elite III's Had just thought about the old 404's for a bit. Thought I'd ask the experts. Most riding is solo touring, but do ride some two up around town. Thanks, Clay
  19. I promised myself the first ride of the year the weekend after paying Fed & State taxes. Kind of a got that behind me celebration ride. The battery has been charging on the 89 since this morning but now the rain has set in for maybe all weekend. So I guess the ride will have to wait. It's only been since October. We got busy in November with a new flooring job and missed several available riding weekends right into winter. I got a utility pole delivered to the camp last night but still waiting on a local guy with a tractor to dig the 5 ft hole and help set the pole. Were ready for electricity and camping season at the camp. I can't wait to get the scoots down there.:cool10: MamaMo swept out the camp and made room for a few venture riders that like to rough it. The new fire pit works great.
  20. I'm having trouble starting the bike up, as it didn't have any HT leads I had to buy a new set and I'm not sure that I've put them on correctly. Could someone please tell me how they should be set up? Left spark plug 1 = Front Left Coil, Right Spark Plug 1 = Front Right Coil 3 Left Spark Plug 2 = Rear Left Coil, Right Spark Plug 2 = Rear Right Coil 4
  21. First off let me stat that I take the blame for the meeting at Pops this last Saturday. As for the setting and being together. I went down in person to set things up for Rose Bud and make sure they would be able to take us So I went down on Saturday 5 2008 to confirm with them in person as for the group meet I talked to Lauren up front and asked if we could be seated out on the patio as a group and be together. She said we do not take reservation but that part she could handle for us with no trouble at all She took all the information and I gave her Rosebud number and said if there is any problem give Rose Bud a call So I asked again before Peg & I left will there be any problems with this and I was told everything will be ready.. I called again on Friday 11 2008 to make sure things were still on schedule for us to be on the patio as a group of 30 or more members and I was told by the management that it was all taken care of and they were ready for us and would have extra staff on hand this coming Saturday at 12:30PM They also told me they already talked to Rosebud on Thursday and things were in order. So needless to say it dint go as planed they were not set up for us, they split the group up we were not allowed to eat on the patio, yet they stated on their web site to enjoy the patio if weather is permitted and on top of that the management talked to me rudely in person Saturday saying they had no means of taking care of our group. So if this was the case why was I told THREE different times this was no problem for them-Two times in person and one time over the phone...So any blame is coming I take it due to the fact I told Rosebud I would go over and set things up for her in person. So I'm am sorry for any trouble this may have caused anybody and sorry I dint get to meet everybody there as some left early. Buddy Hello Ron. I appreciate the comments. Feedback, both positive and negative, is certainly welcome. I'm not sure where the miscommunication was with the group being set up. I can assure you, I will find out. I can only offer my apologies that it happen. Due to seating inefficiency, we do not take reservations. We did know your group was coming but could still not designate tables for your group. Those are daily requests made by not only yours, but by many organizations that we would never be able to physically accommodate. We are working to add to kitchen capacity for serving on the patio area in the near future. This will definitely help with the seating problems. I am sorry you experience was not what you expected. That is never our intention and I would like to some how make this up to your group in the future. if there is something we can do to make this right, I would be more than happy to discuss further. My contact information is attached. Thank You, Marty Doepke General manager POPS

    Special thanks

I would like to say a very special THANK YOU to Skid from West Virginia. I asked for Skids help in locating an American Legion in Elkins WV, as the MTA is holding their annual MTA Gathering at the Canaan Valley Resort at the end of June. Skid went out of his way to get me the phone numbe to contact them so I might set up our dinner ride for the Monday night. This has been done and ALL IS GOOD.:cool10: Thanks Skid for your help. Darrell MTA President
  24. I went to the doctors yesterday, and he took out the stitches, for the last time!!!! He did more x-rays, and said all looks good, but I have to take it easy for another month. No lifting and such for about a month!! So I am in the end portion of healing:cool10: My Brother in Florida was gonna send me his "broken wing" patch, but he must not be able to find it. I had seen one that I really liked, but it was before the crash. Now I can't find where I had seen it (naturally). So I wanted to know if anyone has seen this patch. Unfortunately the picture is in my mind (yea, something has to be there) It was only about 3 1/2-4" long, had a nice set of feather wings, with only one wing broken, and falling down. I did see a HD one, but dont want that one (for obvious reasons). If you see one will you please let me know! I am looking for a small one to put over my shoulder on my vest. http://www.smokeymountaintrading.com/id67.htm It was similar to this one on page 21 only with one broken wing, and seems it was a lot nicer looking, and not in Harley orange. Thanks to everyone here for all the help and prayers...They must have worked....at least thats what the doctor says!!
