The antenna on my 89 VR will not tighten down all the way! When it starts to get snug it feels like it lets go! I think I would like to change to a 2 antenna set up ( looks mostly). I've also noticed my CB and Radio stations aren't coming in as good any more. Any suggestions?

I understand that the idle speed should be set to 1000 RPM. Other than not stalling, is there a reason for this? Suggestions on an inexpensive tachometer to but to set this the RPM, been doing it by ear Thanks

The wide grip bars are playing hell on my neck. Does anyone have any recomendations for a narrower set of bars that won't affect performance? I was wondering if a set of Venture bars would work? Any ideas?

I am new to E-Bay having just set up an account and Don was kind enough to point me in the direction of a set of stock mufflers for sale that would fit my '06 RSV. I actually only needed the right one, but was outbid when I would have gone higher. So, I am looking to find a right muffler or a pair from someone who has installed after market pipes. Thanks, Bill

I just received a phone call from my son, he works for a company that does turn-arounds in refinerys all over the country. He was at the refinery in Pasadena, Tx today when one of the worlds largest cranes collasped killing 4 workers and injuring 7, he was about 100 yards away and saw the whole thing, he was very shaken up when I talked to him, he was to be working in that area where the crane was once they got it set up. I have and will always worry about the work he does in such dangerous places.............I think he will think more about what dangers are around him now............Our prayers go out for the families of those killed and injured.

After getting only about 2K miles from my last Dunlop D404 rear tire, I decided there was no way I would buy another for the RSV so I put on a set of Avon Venom X tires. Holy cow, what a difference! Granted, the D404 was wore slap out and the stock Brickstone on the front was looking rough after 11k miles but this thing feels like a sportbike compared to what it was like! Rode about 100 mi 2 up today down GA hwy 60 through Suches to GA19 then over to US 129 and over Blood Mtn. Some good twisties! I was having a ball flicking (well almost!) the RSV through the curves. For anyone looking for a new set of tires I would highly recommend them. I'll have to wait and see how many miles I get from the but they've got to be better then the Dunlops!-Jack

And then there is reality! Next Sunday she who must be obeyed and I are off to Chicago and back on route 66, nearly 5000 miles. Bike has about 3700 on it so will get engine oil change Saturday. Will also get stearing bearings checked. However, here in the desert it get b...dy hot! Should I get radiator or other coollent put in and if so where? As you can tell I am a mechanic's dream! Given that we are both "cuddly" what should the suspention be set at front and rear, also given that we will have "luggage" with us? Anything else I should get done/checked on the bike? Lastly, mundane I know, how does the CB work? Just turn to channel ? and transmit? :detective:Kiorana123

Some of you may be interested in this. I could not afford to by two new headsets for the wife and I, so while browsing edsets products I noticed that they had individual speakers for $12.25 each in the accessories and parts. I ordered a pair and took my J&M head set and spliced these speakers in. Althou you could get the matching connectors prob. from Radio shack I just cut the one off from J&M as well as edsets and soldered the wires together. The wires are not color coded so had to guess here and tried it out before I soldered it in. If you look at the attachement with the speakers facing up the top wire or the one right (with red arrow) was soldered to the white wire on the J&M and the other on the black wire. Don't know how much difference it would have made but on speakers usually poitive to positive and neg to neg. Any way doing it this way it worked and the sound is great. For $25 and shipping It is like a whole different set. Hope this may help some who are in the same boat I was in but would like better sound. Thanks to Don for what he has done on this and I really debated on writing this cause I don't want to take anything away from edsets. The music is better and the conversation is better with this set up.

Anybody here know how a fishing planer board works? Or at least know where I can find directions on how to use them? I bought a couple at a yard sale a couple years ago and never got around to figuring out how to set them up. I have one for both the port side and the starboard side. Here's a link to the ones that I have. http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fei%3DUTF-8%26p%3Dyellow%2520bird%2520side%2520surface%2520planer%26fr2%3Dtab-web%26fr%3Dyfp-t-501-s&w=200&h=81&imgurl=www.thornebros.com%2Fmuskie%2Ftrolling_equipment%2Fimages_trolling%2Fyellowbird.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thornebros.com%2Fmuskie%2Ftrolling_equipment%2Ftrolling_yellowbird.html&size=5.2kB&name=yellowbird.jpg&p=yellow+bird+side+surface+planer&type=JPG&oid=31bd06dd60de25c6&no=3&sigr=12c4d2u28&sigi=12baodc6l&sigb=13q66271d&tt=5 Thanx, Bill

I am about to purchase a set of 99 Road King mufflerss for my 06 RSTD. I was wondering if anyone could put me in touch with somebody building mounting brackets for these mufflers. Also, another question, I drilled out my stock mufflers and got a lot of popping on decel. I have plugged the AIS and still popping occurs. I am not talented enough to rejet or adjust the carbs, so I am going to put these mufflers on in hopes of making it sound better. If there is anyone in the state of Washington that would like to help out a Soldier with rejetting or adjustment please contact me. All the food and beer you can drink would gladdly be offered as payment for your help.

Ok folks, I ran into what I feel are the ultimate wiring diagrams for bikes. Please go to www.kojaycat.com and do some reading. Currently they do not offer diagrams for Ventures. However Colin would be interested in working with us to make them for all needed Venture series. I need to see what the the club input is on this idea. I figure about $30 to $40 per set U.S. Might be less. The 1500 Wing set is right in that range. We have a sister club in the U.K. that would probably be interested. I will send them the same message. We might need to help with pictures of components etc. JB

Hello Riders, I read about Avon Vemon tires on this site and when my original reat tire needed to be replaced after my trip to NY from AZ pulling my Time Out Camper, I bought a set and had them installed on my 07 RSV. I bought them from Bike Bandit and paid about $284.00 Delivered to my door in three days. The service and the assistance from their telephone sales department was excellent. The real news is the way the tires make the bike respond. The "top heavy" feeling at low speed is non-existent and at speed the tires handle more like a sport bike. There is no road noise whatsoever from this set of tires. I have just about got 100 miles on them for the break-in but the difference is absolutely nite and day over the Dunlops that were original equipment. I don't know about wear of course, but if it is not a good as the Dunlops (I got about 16,000 miles), I will take the lesser miles as opposed to the handling. I am sure that there are other tires out there, but your reccommendation on the Venoms sure have made my day. Thanks to Venture.org for the great information and making my Venture even better to ride than it was before! Jay Jay

Noddy...a irregular member here bought a set of avons for his 91 from southwest moto a month or so ago. At my recommendation mind you. He got the typical great service, prompt delivery, good price. He noticed the other day that the front tire is "checking", or otherwords, cracking all around the rim area. Mine did that a couple years ago from a set I bought at Sturgis. Now, Gord has to take off the tire and send it back to SWM and they will send him a new one....great..but he cannot ride without a tire very well...so may be stuck. He was hoping to get them to send him a new one and then he would send the old one back just to cut time off the road. They can't/won't do that. This tire is a great one and he is pleased with the performance but I am hearing more of the issue with the cracks. Not on the 2nd gens just the 1st gens. His tire was made fall last year judging by the date code.

Do to my wife being so tall, hahaha. I find myself in need of a set of adjustable passenger floorboards the ones that go on the crash bars of a mark II. Does anybody have a set in any condition they'd be willing to part with? If not can I borrow a set to have them reversed engineered? Jeff

I took my grand daughter on a toy drive this past weekend. Beautifull weekend and great ride. Around 200 bikes of all makes and models. Great turn out. Anyway, I had the intercom set up on her helmet but she is not really tall at 9 years old and I did not notice the cord from her head set was dragging on the bag cover. This caused a scuff mark approx 1/2" wide by 4" long across the width of the cover. Is there anyway to get rid of that? (not looking for a paint job here LOL) Thanks all.

Hey Folks, I have my '86 down and apart and decided since it's this far down I would take the carbs off and check the float levels to be sure they were in specs. This is where my problem lies, the manual doesn't give a measurement at where the float should be set at statically, it shows how you can check if they are high from the outside and together, but not a measurement internally. Does anyone know the measurment that they should be set at and where the measurment is taken from. I am glad I did this as someone has been into these carbs before and I had a screw fall out that wasn't installed properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the headsets from Yamaha. I know they are from JM but the sound quality is pretty poor. The only way I can hear the CB is to leave it on speaker. My wife is really getting tired of me asking her to repeat what she has said as the sound is distorted. Is there a better set of helmet speakers available that I can replace the ones that came with the set?

Well this weekend I did a very stupid thing, I pushed up on the handle bars on the end to move the bike. In doing this is snapped the Kuryakyn grip on the left side. I tried to super glue it with no success. Kurayakyn doesn't sell just the one grip I found out. Dose anyone have a set they would like to sell? Or, can think of a way to fix the broken one. The Kuryakyn part number is 6235. Thanks for any help. BigD
