I had a very scary incident happen a few years ago. I live in the north central plains of Texas. 110 degree days are common in summer. A friend of mine and myself drove to Ft. Worth one day and was driving home. It was easily a 105 degree day. Coming out of Ft. Worth was stop & go traffic. With all the cars piled up and the heat of the pavement, and the heat coming up off the bike, no telling how hot it was. Maybe 120-130. When we were able to get up to speed I suddenly felt very cool and comfortable. I remember seeing white squiggly lines in front of me. The next thing I remember is my friend pulling up next to me at what he said was 90-100 mph and screaming for me to pull over. He later said I was weaving everywhere. I pulled it over and he ran up just in time to help me put the stand down and help me off the bike. I was falling over when he caught me. He helped me over to some shade. Luckily we were right next to a hamburger place and he got me one large water after another. I was weak and numb feeling all the way home. Since that day, I'll either leave the bike in on 100+ days or I will be very cautious and hydrated. Trust me, it can happen when you don't even know it's happening till it's to late.

Yesterday during a group ride, I ment to throw her in second gear to catch up with the group leader but accidentally put her into first instead. I discovered these first gens have enough power to flip ya on your back. You should have seen the looks on all those HD riders faces. One of them said he could've walked under the front wheel. I could just imagine the look on my face! All I remember thinking was, OH:yikes:SH**! She came down kind of hard. But no damage. Other than some to my shorts. Glad I put in those progressive spring when I rebuilt the frontend.

I have an 87 venture standard that has the typical hot start problem. (Turns over slow when hot ) I'm doing a clutch change and I'm polishing and clearcoating the engine covers, so I have the bike mildly torn down, and I figure it'd be worth taking the starter apart and cleaning it, and seeing what I can do to improve the internal ground contacts. I seem to remember that a member had a detailed post on starter removal, but cannot seem to find it. Anyone remember the post?....if so, how can I find it?

hey folks, last fall I bought a trailer hitch for my 06 Venture and I seem to have misplaced the stinger (the part the ball attaches to).. I'm trying to figure out if I had actually ordered that part with the hitch as I am really unable to find the elusive item in my home or shop.. Ever have that special place you 'store things so you'll remember where they are'? Well where mine is, its full of these parts.. grr.. All I can remember is that when I purchased the hitch, I also received the 3 flag pole holder that fits into the hitch where the stinger goes.. but I can't find the stinger.. The hitch LOOKS like a Venturedad one but his site doesn't list the 3 flag pole holder.. Does this ring a bell with anyone who might recognize the hitch as I've described it? it would help me locate records to see if I actually ordered the stinger or not and whether I'm wasting my time searching for something that I never had in the first place lol.. My memory is getting so bad lately, I might be old enough for a GoldWing! But I'd probably forget where I parked it..

Let me tell you folks......the sales for the raffle tickets are very low at this point and there are some issues with the bushtec trailer people and management changes which is changing the discount they can give us for a trailer for the prize. At this point in the game it is looking very slim that we will be able to have one of their trailers as the prize this year. The commitee is going over this and deciding what to do. We will still have a great top prize well worth your raffle ticket purchase....when we have made the final decisions we will let you all know. please remember that this is out of our hands........and totally in yours as to how many tickets are sold.... At this time..I also would like to thank all who have generously donated towards the kids raffle too !!

While reading a post about who's going where when and taking what, it occured to me that I had no clue of where some of the places mentioned were at.. It also occured to me how really cool some of the places sounded and that if I knew what State the writers were talking about I would make a point to visit them to see for myself.. I am going to try and remember to include the State abrieviations with my ride storys in the future, if you think of it please do the same. Thanks 'Puc

Well hello to everyone! It has been awhile since being on the site. Those of you don't remember me, I was the reason for everyone using earplugs at Vogel!! LOL! Yes the loud pipes are finally gone, and after two years without a bike, Eck has convinced me that I was old enough" ha ha" for a different kind of motorcycle! Seriously, I rode his new goldwing and was instantly "sold" , so I had to have one! I will be at Vogel this year and am looking very forward to seeing everyone I remember and meeting new people too! Rest assured, the only noise I will be making this year will be coming from the radio or the CB.

This will sound very silly to some but I'm shaking off the winter dust from my winter purchases and ready to install a lot of them onto my 2006 RSV but for the most part, I either can't remember where I stored the dang stuff or misplaced the installation paperwork.. I need my own storage space lol I bought a trailer hitch assembly for my bike and can't find the installation paper work.. I can't even remember the brand name so that I could download it from their site. I'm wondering if anyone recognizes this description and could point me to their website.. The hitch is not from DiamondR.. The hitch comes with an optional 3 post flag mast attachment. Does this brand ring a bell with anyone?

there used to be a motorcycle lift that mounted in the bed of your truck and would reverse and lower to the ground to load or unload your bike. I can't seem to find a web site - anybody remember these lifts ?? I think I found it - sticker shock has got me tho ----

What is this part, where does it go, what does it do and is it important or not. During the most recent carb maintenance this weekend, the magnet picked this up from inside the center of the v In between the cylinder heads. It seems like I have seen it before but for the life of me I can't remember where it goes.

Do you miss them? Do you even remember them? I'm bet most of us here do remember them. Here is a neat article about Fulmer who is producing them again, including the metal flake "stars and stripes" helmet from Easy Rider in celebration of their 40 year anniversary. You can even get the bubble shields. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-accessories/2009/fulmer-helmets.htm

I purchased one of the little bells to go on a bike and it has come apart up at the top. Nothing left but the wire and the little ringer part. Has anyone had this to happen. These little things were expensive if I remember. I haven't hit anything with it it just came apart. Are they warrantied?

We were discussing at work today how cabin fever has set in, and how we still have January and February to get through... when we decided what we needed to do was dig out... or rent one of those comedys, the one that you could see over and over again and it STILL makes you laugh. I mean really laugh....out loud. Everyone still has their favorite.. the one that always makes them laugh...the one they think is the best one ever. Does anyone remember Fatso? with Dom Deluise? or how about Night At the Roxburry? I think we all need a good laugh. How about it? Let me hear what your favorite comedy is.

I've been a member since May of 2008 and somewhere between then, someone posted a thread on a women's black, mesh riding jacket. I ordered one and I love it. Now I have 2 friends that want one. I have no info or receipt. The tag says www.power-trip.com but when I went to the website, that doesn't look familiar, and I didn't see the one I have. I know that the cost was really low, around $35.00 plus shipping and I remember that they normally cost around $200.00. It also has the removable armour. When I did a search in "riding accessories, the only thread I found was from 06, so I know that's not the one. Can anyone help me out? Thanks Deb
