  2. Marca wants to make some apple blossoms. She thinks somebody form this forum told her how to make them,, but she can't remember who, or how they were made. Man,,,,could I ever eat some apple blossoms.
  3. Well, While Mike (eusa1) and I were riding back from B2Mom and Dads in the rain and I made a rookie mistake and am paying for it today. I was riding in the middle of my lane and went to slow down and just touched my front brake (stupid stupid) well the next thing I know I am on the pavement sliding and so is the bike. I slammed to the pavement very hard and hit my head very hard ( had on Helmet) and slammed my body hard also. Before me and the bike stopped sliding the bike spun and my head ended up under the front of the bike. Well I remember the bike going down and then the next theing I remember is Mike asking....Hey Buddy Are you hurt, can you hear me, hey are you hurt? Then I hear him tell a guy that was offering to help lift the bike up. DO NOT GRAB ANYWHERE EXCEPT THIS BLACK HANDLE. Well about that time I became undazed and told Mike I thought I was OK. I remember thinking when I hit my head WOW I am glad I have my helmet on. I also remember thinking OH NO my bike. Well I got lucky and It didn't hurt the bike to bad Rode it on home from Murray, KY. Went to the hospital when I got home and ended up with craked ribs, Chest contussion (sp) and a scaped and bruised elbow. I am very sore and it hurts to move but I will be OK. So the moral is...........No matter how much you ride or how much experience you have do not forget what you know and get to comfortable. Always remember the little things. It could have been worse for me and all because I forgot for just a second about the little things I learned. But as you all probably guessed it only took me about a 1/2 a second after I touched the brake to remember that I shouldn't have done that.
  4. Hi Everyone, It has been over 10 years since I have had my last Venture Royale (85 I think it was). I don't know if it is just because the bike is as heavy as it is, the road suface, the speed, the age, etc. I recently got an 89 Venture Royale, at higher speeds (65 +) the bike just doesn't feel as stable and tight It is not a wobble, more like swooshi (if that's a word!) and loose. The tires are literally brand new (Dunlop 404's). I don't remember my last Venture riding like this, but like I said it has been a long time. I don't think there is anything wrong with it but I'm just not sure. Any thought or similar experiences would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
  5. The auctions that are currently running to benefit St. Jude Childlren's Hospital will be ending tomorrow. Some of the bids are stupid low, get you bid in now. Remember this is for the Kids at St. Jude.
  6. Any one from Anaheim, Fullerton, Brea, Yorba Linda, or Placentia, California area remember Fairway Yamaha? Bought my '84 Venture Royale there, then they went out of business around '86 or '87. If I remember correctly, I paid $6,800 for it. Rode it until 2004. I still have the license plate bracket, but it doesn't look right on my Wing. Just went through a bunch of stuff looking for a souvenier shirt from the Barstow to Vegas run Thanksgiving weekend 1985. Could not find it, guess it must have shrunk to the point it's too small. I do have the patch and pin from the ride. Had a buddy from Ohio come out on a '85 Gold Wing and we did that run together. Of course he was upset that I could out-quick, out-speed, out-handle him, and get about 2 miles per gallon better mileage. Yes, those were the days, my friends. My buddy died last summer, had not seen him or communicated for years. Lost opportunities. Only motorcycling can invoke this kind of memory and now cause one to reflect and vow to try to make the most out of the days we have yet remaining. Mel
  7. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJxOsYh12yY&feature=player_embedded]Donnie Williams - 2nd run http://www.NTMSC.com - YouTube[/ame] This may have been posted somewhere else. I cant remember for sure.
  8. On July 1st the riding community of Victoria lost an avid rider. Jana as he was known loved to ride. He had moved to the west coast for work leaving his wife in Ontario, he had been here for one year. The driver that killed Jana was under a court order to not possess or consume alcohol, it is believed she was impaired at the time of the accident. Thursday July 14 we are organizing a 6:30 pm (PST) ride to follow the route Jana was heading for a beautiful sunny holiday afternoon ride to remember Jana. I hope you can take a moment and remember the tragic death of a good man. Yes prayers for him and his family are very much welcomed. thanks to all. http://www.vibikers.com/site/ http://www.bclocalnews.com/vancouver_island_south/sookenewsmirror/news/125173828.html
  9. I feel as though I have posted this before, but just read it again. I'm off to Florida this Wednesday to see the last launching of our shuttle this Friday. I remember Sputnik; I hate it but I will find out if I'm too old for this long a ride. Wish me luck..........
  10. A while back I remember a thread about a tachometer program for a pc that used a microphone to determine the rpm of and engine by listening to the sound of the engine. I had the program downloaded, but never got a chance to try it out before I lost it. Now I can not find it again for life of me. Does anybody remember it and know the link? Bill Never mind, I finally found it here http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38904&highlight=tachometer+program
  11. OK you North Georgia folks, what roads are a must for the Helen, Dahlonega, Ellijay area? I have been there once but dont remember much about the area. What I do remember is the ride from Suches over Blood Mountain by way of Wolfpen Gap, I believe, was very interesting. What else is there in the area? I will be there Thursday and Friday.
  12. 14 years ago, there was this woman, and she got tangled up with this charismatic younger man. On this day, 14 years ago, she decided to take his name, and she hasn't been the same since then Many miles, trials and tribulations later, here we stand, together still and wondering how fast these 14 years have gone by. Many new friends have been made in this time, and lots of the country seen including both oceans and the majority of the mountain ranges on this continent. I realise how lucky I have been to be able to be the man who has taken you to these places. They are memories that I will always cherish and remember till we are no more. So on this day, the day you said I do to me, I thank you. I thank you for being my wife and loving me, for never giving up on me or us. It hasn't always been easy, but it's been worth it....and I would never change our life together. Happy Anniversary Lonna, 14 years later, I'm still in love with you
  13. I can't remember how to find the MEMBER vendors....carbon one, freebird, etc. Directions please??? thanks
  14. Last November, since I was recovering from my surgery and no using it for at least 45 days, I had to move my bike to the winter parking. I remember that I was not able to started easily, and after a couple of starts, it come up but also a yellow light show up. After that, I stopped after parking on the right spot, and didn't used at all during this time. Winter weather plus my surgery recover didn't let me be close to the bike to take care of it. Somebody remember what was that yellow engine light? Was not Oil, was the engine but it never showed up in the past since I have that bike. I'll start to prepare it for this year, and before to do anything, I want to be sure that nothing went wrong. Thanks, calperin
  15. 1. Think of a number from 1 to 10. 2. Multiply that number by 9. 3. If it's a 2 digit number, add the digits together. 4. Subtract 5. 5. Determine which letter in the alphabet corrresponds to the number you ended up with. 6. Think of a Country that starts with that letter. 7. Remember the last letter of the name of that Country. 8. Think of the name of an animal that starts with that letter. 9. Remember the last letter in the name of that animal. 10. Think of the name of a fruit that starts with that letter. ARE Y0U THINKING OF A KANGAROO IN DENMARK EATING AN ORANGE????
  16. James Arness of 'Gunsmoke' fame dies at 88 I don`t think I have missed a single "Gun Smoke" I can remember meeting the entire cast at the Boise Stampede... when I was real young....late `60`s...
  17. Wow!! Just checked the member list to find an old member, and it looks like someone has done some house cleaning?? Not nearly as many members as I remember..... Or am I halucinating again??
  18. I don't think I am having a mirage but maybe so.Up until yesterday there was a white RSV in the classifieds for sale for 7200.00 or 8900.00 with color matched trailer.I wrecked my dream bike an 08 tour deluxe going to Death Valley on the 11th of this month and the insurance co wants to total it.I want a Venture now and thought that white one would be perfect but the listing has disappeared.Anybody know why or remember who the seller was or have his contact info? I think it was in Tulsa but not sure now. There is no record of it being sold it is just gone.Any help would be appreciated or in finding another one.
  19. Was wondering if any of you have removed the covers from the side bags on your RSV? I need to remove mine to have them painted. I think I vaguely remember having to unscrew a piece of material that keeps them from swinging too far open, however also remember there being a hinge with a pin in it that I couldn't figure out how to remove. I'd can't check it quite yet, as its still buried behind 1.5' of snow in our shed, being stored for the winter. Was hoping one of you may have some advice, so I could be ready to go once the snow melts... Thanks in advance. Bob
  20. I found a used tci locally that will work on my 85. It looks ok on the outside and when I open the back its nice and clean and I dont see any issues, but I want to have a look at the front of the board and check to the capacitors. I seem to remember a thread in here about replacing the capacitors but i cant find it. does anyone know how to get the board out of the plastic box and what capacitors i need if any of them are burnt? Thanks in advance, Brian
  21. Some of these are before my time, but many I remember from when I was a kid. http://oldfortyfives.com/DYRT.htm
  22. :Happy Birthday: :Happy Birthday: Hope you have a great day even if it is crappy weather today. At least any snow that you get will melt. The sun will be back out. Just remember you aren't getting older you're getting better..Of course you will always be older then me, for a few months. Just remember you're loved. :bighug::bighug: Margaret
  23. Yesterday morning when I was waking up, I could hear this "beeping" sound. Definately not a sound that I'd normally hear and it was inconsistent. At first, I thought I was still dreaming as the sound seemed "far away". As I slowly woke up, I realized I wasn't dreaming so I got up and went looking for the source of the sound .... I found it in the garage. It was my GPS ... crap! I thought... why is that on?? I discovered, after running the scoot for a while on Sunday that I'd left the key on and in so doing, totally drained the battery. Crap!!! I'd just charged it all up the day before, now I have to do it again.... probably not a good thing for this 2 yr old battery... but we'll see.... For a while I couldn't figgure out how I'd managed to leave the key on .... then it dawned on me... I flipped it on after shutting the bike off to see if the fan was coming on and forgot to flip it off again .... DOH Last Friday, I forgot to put my bottom teef (teeth) in and didn't realize it until I was part way enroute to work. Now, this is not like me at all ... I'm a "spectacles testicles wallet watch" person ... (guess I better add "teef" to that... ) Other examples....I also find that I can't remember jokes anymore. I stumble when trying to remember names of actors I should never be forgetting. etc, etc The whole point of all of this is .... are the years finally catching up to me? .... is my mind starting to falter? .... am I losing my mind? aarrrrggghhhhhhhhhh.... I'm growing OLD!!! :crying: (dang, hope I don't have to buy a new ....... what??)
  24. I just noticed the date is January 15th. It was 42 years ago today in 1969 that I was inducted into the U. S. Air Force and I remember it as if it were yesterday. Wow, that was a long time ago. RandyA
