  1. Hi everyone! I have a 2005 royal star tour deluxe, 1300cc with 97,000. The bike is in showroom condition and runs perfectly. Last week I noticed coolant under the bike . Upon closer inspection, I noticed a small amount of coolant at both bases of what appears to be covers for the cylinders. I looked underneath the tank, and from the best I could see, found no leaks. Any ideas where to start with this one would be as always, greatly apprecitated. Thank You, Ed
  2. Thank you, I think you nailed the description of what it feels like, a snake. I have only had this bike for 3 weeks, just got the tires on last weekend. Took on some windy roads to see how it handled on them, no problem, took the turns beautifully. Soon as I was on a straight away and brought it up to 65 you can almost feel the backend get weird again. I am thinking the shop needs to look at this one, it can potentially be dangerous I think.
  3. Hi Everyone, It has been over 10 years since I have had my last Venture Royale (85 I think it was). I don't know if it is just because the bike is as heavy as it is, the road suface, the speed, the age, etc. I recently got an 89 Venture Royale, at higher speeds (65 +) the bike just doesn't feel as stable and tight It is not a wobble, more like swooshi (if that's a word!) and loose. The tires are literally brand new (Dunlop 404's). I don't remember my last Venture riding like this, but like I said it has been a long time. I don't think there is anything wrong with it but I'm just not sure. Any thought or similar experiences would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
  4. I took off the trunk and was inspecting the leveling system (not really sure what I was looking for, loose connections I guess). I then took out the headlight and was ready to go after the circut board. It suddenly occured to me that it was when I opened up the leveling system unit (where you put water in the radiator) and closed it was after I closed it the levelihg system stopped working. Just for the heck of it, I again opened up that unit, turned the key to acc, no code, hit the button for manual, success!!!!! The loose wire is somewhere in there. Was prepared to do what I needed for the circuit board but am way happy that this problem was so much easier. Again thanks to all who gave me advice and solutions. Hoping that this may be helpful for someone in the future. Ed:cool10:
  5. I went to price some replacement parts for the upper right cowling on my 89 Venture Royale, YIKES! I am looking for 2 parts; 1 is the console panel that goes around the leveler, cb, speaker and air outlet part # 26h-2837m-01-00. The 2nd is the acutual grill cover that goes over the air outlet, part #26h-2837w-00-00. If anyone can help with either steering me in the right direction for finding these at a more reasonable price or has an alternative for what to do with the grill missing on the air outlet, I would be grateful. I am also missing a vent, others are broken or missing. The cost to replace what needs to be replaced is close to $600 from the Yamaha dealer. I hope this is the right place to post this and again thanks so much for your help and suggestions! Ed
  6. Thank you to all who helped me out with this. I feel better about the situation. I was fearful, that especially with the leveling system I was going to have to put out money I don't have, therefore the bike would have had to sit. Thanks so much. This forum and the responses boosted my confidence that I made the right decision with the Venture over the Goldwing! Ed:cool10:
  7. I am thrilled! I had an 86 Venture Royal 12 years ago. This past weekend, after a very long wait I got an 89. Having some issues with it. When I bought it last weekend the leveling system worked. Now, with it in accesory position I am getting an E4 code. I took the trunk off and have access to the system. I cleaned the rubber piece with the foam in it. Nothing, all I get is a click every 15 to 20 seconds. I sure hope the system didn't go, it looks really expensive to repair. Any ideas? Can I use the bike if this is not working? Next issue; the battery symbol is lite on the monitor screen. The owner tells me the battery is new. The bike starts just fine. Any ideas? Thank you so much to whoever helps. I am grateful and can't wait to get this beauty on the road. Ed
