  1. Battery on my 03 decided it was going on permanent disability, so I went in search of a new Deka ETX20L AGM battery. This is generally accepted as the one at the top of the heap as far as batteries for the 1800 are concerned. American made, maintenance free AGM, high CCA, one year warranty. Wanted to let you all know that I found what appears to be the best price at Tri-State Battery Warehouse online. It is $77.95 including shipping. Ordered first thing this morning, already have confirmation of the order, I'll let you know how fast they ship. http://www.tristatebattery.com/product_info.php?products_id=981 Joe
  2. I am considering a set of Khrome Werks pipes for my '08 Venture. Any opinions and/or advice on who may have the best price on them? Thanks
  3. Traded the 2003 for a 2009 hold over. The Venture is still one of the best bikes for the price.
  4. I've got a great "BOSS" 3 pocket windshield bag on my RSTD, love it. But I would like to know, what 3 pocket bag members are using on their RSVs? Web links would be good for pics and price. I have a wide F4 windshield without a vent. But I would say anything that fits stock will fit the same. Thanks, Mike G in SC
  5. The neutral switch on my 87 XVZ1300 is leaking oil. After opening the side cover I see that the wiring is cooked pretty well and I'd like to replace the switch assembly while I'm in there. Have a source for a new old stock 1984 XVZ1200L switch and am wondering if that would work as a replacement? The price is reasonable as compared to the dealers crazy price. If it won't work, does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced replacement switch. Part numbers on the package of the possible replacement part are 41R-82540-01 A890725C 62 0612-3
  6. Good day. I am about to tear into my bike to do a few, (hopefully last in a while), fixes and tunes. While I was in there, (taking the thing apart is getting old), I want to change to solid motor mounts. Where is a good place to get them for a reasonable price? Thanks.
  7. With the upcoming Holiday weekend coming up I would like everyone to take some time out and think about why we have this Holiday…. This Monday we honor those who paid the ultimate price to allow us to continue to do the things we all love to do in this country… My God bless those Men and Women who went before us…
  8. I would like to pass along a thanks to Ken Austin at Auburn Motorcycle. I just had my 08 RSV serviced there and he saved me a lot of money over the normal dealer price. Mike
  9. Does anyone have a 4 pin CB mic they can try on thier bike and see if it works? I want to get a power mic, but most are 4 pin and the price goes way up to get them rewired to 5 pin. I'm thinking the 4 pin will work but I'm not sure.
  10. Not sure if this is the place to post this but what the hell! My brothers friend is ready to put his wing on the market and has said he will sell it to me for $8000 It is a GL1500 1998 with 10,000 miles. It has been garage kept and is immaculate. Not a lot of upgrades but it has a backrest and chrome brake covers etc. Is this a decent price in anyones opinion. I have been looking for a while, just not real hard. It is fuel injected and has new tires. I can try and post some pictures.
  11. Stumbled upon this 1st Gen on a Norwegian web site. Gotta say that this is the nicest 1st. Gen I have ever seen. Would buy it if I wanted a slower bike than my 1998 Royal Star Tour Classic II The Norwegian price on the other hand is something different. Motorcycles here cost an arm and a leg and the wife and the dog to ! 17.743 US$ is the asking price. They have extremely hefty taxes here on motorcycles. But don´t worry - it will go for that price. Here is the link: http://www.finn.no/finn/mc/used/object?finnkode=26954627 Friendly regards from Iceland (Norway at the moment at work), Jonas
  12. Looking for advice on helmets and headsets. We are looking at HJC BT modulars with the dual visors. Headsets are J&M BCD279-UN-HO sets for the HJC. I was able to find everything, including the lower cords for 615.00. is thiat a good deal?? Is there a better option for this price?? thanks to all that answer. This price is for 2 sets.
  13. I am just curious as to how many of you on this site have lowered your bike? I just bought an 08 Venture and it was a bit too tall for my liking and i had the dealer put a rear lowering kit on the bike and i gotta tell ya that it is so much better now then it was that it is unbelievable! The kit dropped the bike about 1.5 inches and now i have much better control of the bike then i did when it was at the stock height. The bike seems to handle better also and it doesn't appear to have hurt the ride any either. I just thought i would post this for those of you who may have been considering doing this to your bike but maybe were afraid to. Hopefully this post will help a few vertically challenged folks like myself enjoy their bike more. When i first bought the bike i was really nervous about the bikes weight when i would come to a stop etc, now i don't worry at all about it. Hope this helps. This bike is awesome and i cannot believe you don't see more Ventures on the road then what you do. I don't feel like the Goldwing or the Ultra Classic either one has anything on this bike, especially when you factor in the price. The RSV a great touring bike at a great price and should not be over looked by anyone when considering a touring bike.
  14. Seems I need to be able to carry a little one. Any help with a chair that looks good on a 2nd gen, good quality at decent price? Anybody got a used one that needs work? Thanks

  17. I'm looking at buying an '05 black/rasberry RSTD. Thanks to the bike not currently being in rideable shape, I'm having to figure on putting some not so few bucks into it to getting it back on the road. But I'm also looking ahead. I'd like to put some kind of system on the bike that will enable me to listen to my tunes as well as communicate with my RSV riding buddies. I will not be mounting speakers on the bike, headset use only. I'm trying to see what options are available and if there are other ways to do this than something like the J&M cb/radio system. I've been looking on eBay and seeing what some of the online suppliers have but not having dealt with this kind of set up before [mp3 and a set of earphones while on the Wee Beastie], I'm not sure what would work best. I have been looking for a RSV but if I can get it at the right price, this RSTD might just end up being something of a steal, even with the extra cash I'll have to put into it over and above the purchase price. As always, all help gratefully appreciated!!
  18. Does anyone know why all UK ventures are sold withont the neat hinge sticker so well photographed on the fronmt of the Clymer manual? I know you can order them for a silly price via Yamaha, just wondered if anyone has run there own up.
  19. Just looked at the recent gas prices in most major cities in Canada. We're around $1.24 per litre (that's about $4.70 per US gal) and we're the highest in all of Canada. Most other places are about 10 cents per litre cheaper and even Victoria, which is our next closest major centre, which is across the straight from us is cheaper. Lowest price posted is $1.01 up in Edmonton, Alberta. Now I know the cost of crude is going up and why but there's really something wrong when we Canucks have to pay such a high price, not to mention why Vancouver is so much higher than most of the rest of Canada. Thankfully our vehicles don't run on water coz to buy a litre of that would be outrageous! LOL
  20. Hey Folks, This is a great sight and I am enjoying it tremendously. I might be one step closer to actually owning my very own venture. I have found a 08 with approx. 12,000 miles. Seems to be well taken care of. I think it still has a year left under warranty. I was wondering what would be a reasonable price for that bike? I don't want to insult the guy with an offer, but at the same time I don't want to spend any more than necessary. Thanks for the help, Melvin

    Bag Rails

There are a few sellers on ebay that have are selling bag rails, and they can be had for 100.00 including shipping.. So my question is what is a good price for them? I kind of doubt if they are OEM for this price and they don't claim to be either but hey if they look good and mount ok who would know..
  24. Noticed this morning that www.thedigitaloasis.com has the Garmin Zumo 660 at a sale price of $488.00 with free shipping to get it in time for Christmas. Which frustrated me as I just paid $525 for mine. No affiliation, just saw it as a good price. Brian
  25. I got a quote on new tires for my '99 RSV today from my local M/C tire store in Woodstock GA (that's all they do). Seems like I've paid considerably more than this in the past. Here's what he quoted me: Metzler 880's (installed): Front (150/80/16)- $131.89 Rear (150/90/15)- $157.05 Total: $288.94 Dunlop E-3's (installed): Front (150/85/16)- $117.23 (Dunlop sizes them as an MV85 for some reason) Rear (150/90/15)- $137.25 Total: $254.48 Just curious how this stacks up to all-in prices everyone else has seen recently for these two brands. I'm partial to the 880's (as many of you know) due to the performance and mileage I've gotten on my last two sets - 15K+ and no failures of any kind. Think I'll stick with what's worked for me, but the price on the Dunlop's really surprised me, but Ken told me to expect a price increase in February when the new mfgr. books come out.
