I have been wanting to change the spark plugs on my VR. Discovered my 18 mm deep socket would not fit in the hole. Spent most of the day browsing through the local tool shops looking for a thin walled socket without success. At the end of it all went to the dealer to see what they had with interesting results. Found out the plug socket only came with the original tool kit. Yamaha wanted... wait for the drum roll... $539.00 ... Whoo-Hoo On the other hand, they did have a Honda plug wrench for sale as a stand alone tool. Went out to see if it would fit and while rummaging around for a screwdriver to remove the side grill found that I had the OEM plug wrench already, just didn't know it. The Honda plug wrench did fit. Perhaps unfortunately, in my excitement I forgot to get the price of the Honda tool. It likely was not very expensive as it was zinc plated and not chromed like my POSH Royale tool. Thought I would pass that along just in case anyone else really was stuck without a way to remove their plugs.

Just wondering if anyone has a trailer hitch that would fit on my wife's 83 venture royal. We are new to the wounderful world of motorcycling. We are eager to go camping with our venture. Are you aware of another hitch that might fit. thanks very much T-man.

Hi everyone. Thought I would share this one with you for what it's worth. I had a lot of plastic caps left over after I fitted my new Kitchen and thought of a use for them. They fit over the heads of the Phillips screw heads to tidy the units up after construction. I have used them to tidy up some of the heads of Allen studs on the bike. 1). First find ones that fit into the holes of the Allen studs you want to cover even if they don't fit snug a little waterproof sealer putty or paper tack (Blue-Tack) the stuff that does not set can be added on fitting. 2). Push them into some of the putty type stuff previously mentioned. This is to stop them blowing away when you spray them. 3). Spray on some metallic paint or whatever colour you like, this stuff I used is supposed to be chrome. (No way is it chrome but it is a good alloy colour). Allow to dry and fit to bike. The horrid black bits on the engine are corn flies, they get everywhere this time of year. Best Wishes. Neil. Old Miner.

Hi, I am looking for a front fender rail, front fender light, front spoiler (not sure if that is the proper name for it) and passenger floorboards. I have been watching ebay. Will these parts off any venture 1983 - 1993 fit on my 1985? Are there other years that will fit? Any other ideas where to find these parts? I am sure this type of question gets asked a lot by newcomers. Checked the forum for quite a while and didn't see anything so apologize if I missed an answer already posted. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just A note here wishing my wife, Joyce Happy Anniversary. We've been together 44 years now or could I say just over 2/3rds of my life. Wow has it been a ride. Looking forward to the next 20 + or whatever the Lord sees fit to allow us. Larry

Friend of mine has a 1000cc Kaw-wa-ski police special and would like to put a dual seat on it. Does anybody know of a dual seat that will fit it?

I am wondering if anyone out there knows of an aftermarket set of pipes that will fit my RSTD? I cannot find anything that fits older that a 99. Will the HD road king pipes fit? I am getting the idea that they won't. Just a thought, but my brother has the stock pipes from his heritage softail hanging in the garage collecting dust.

I am thinking about getting an enclosed trailer for my RSTD. I will want to haul two bikes in it at times both full size with bags. I am looking at a 7x12 single axle I think they will fit. could I go 6x12(cheaper)? If anyone has experience I would appreciate the info. Thanks Reno

OK...these may seem like simple little insignificant things to carry on a long distance trip, but I can tell you that I have used BOTH and they are invaluable! The first is (and don't laugh) Bike Condoms. What are Bike Condoms? They are small compact individually packaged DISPOSABLE motorcycle covers. The are packed (and I mean REALLY PACKED) into a small 5x8x2 soft pouch that is resealable (in case you want to reuse the cover). They work very well and they are for all practical purposes very inexpensive...especially if you buy in bulk. The material is a vinyl type plastic with some stretch and elastic all the way around the edges. THEY FIT ALMOST ANY BIKE (and yes they do fit the Venture). The cost of each package is $9.99. But you can buy 5 packages at $7.99 and 10 packages at 6.99. Most of us probably have bike covers, but the unique things about this one is first, it is disposable so if you do tear it...you haven't spent that much, but more importantly, packing them for a long trip is where this product shines. The pouch is only 5x8" and slim enough to fit ANYWHERE. I have been giving these away as prizes at my biker website parties and everyone has provided positive feedback. Here is the link: http://www.bikecondoms.com/index.php/bikecondoms-store/details/20/6/original-bikecondom/the-original-bikecondom ******************************************************************* My next little product to talk about may not be able to be used by everyone unless you have a clearview or F4 Customs shield, for those people this is also a MUST PACK item for your long trips. Most of you have probably heard of this one. Rain*X Towlettes. They come in a small individual packet (and only .99 cents at autozone), and do a great job of cleaning the windshield and also coating with Rain*X at the same time. I carry a zip lock bag and reuse those too...they work extremely well. Too many times I have stopped at a gas station only to find out they don't have any water OR any towels. This takes care of that problem completely!! Here is a link for that product (or you can get it almost any car store). [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Rain-X-RAIN-X-TOWELETTE/dp/B000BPSVVE]Amazon.com: RAIN-X TOWELETTE: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/21y4rZdqvVL.@@AMEPARAM@@21y4rZdqvVL[/ame] Just thought I would share a couple of things I use in my packing when going on long trips. HOW ABOUT YOU...what is something useful that YOU carry that others might not know about.

TWO things I wondered about today...
Guest posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
ONE: did Yamaha make a tool to fit the stator cover screw plug or am I missing a tool from the original kit? You'd think they could have put it on the end of one of the big box end wrenches. Anyways, this week I finally carved a piece of steel to fit that stupid curved slotted groove. (pics 1, 2) TWO: what is that hole for on the bottom of the rear crankcase cover? Looks to me like Yamaha guessed wrong where the shifter shaft would come through. (pic 3) Just wondering...is all. -
I just bought Edsets and installed them in my helmet and not entirely happy with the sound. I would like to try using ear bubs with them. The module has a 1/8 port on them. My ear bubs have a 3.5mm plug so they don't fit. Are ear bubs made with an 1/8 plug? Do I need an adaptor? I know some of you will have the answer Thanks,
