  1. Don't know if this qualifies as obscure or just unknown, but there's a guy who performs in San Antonio by the name of Ruben V who plays a mean guitar and writes some awesome songs. My favorite is a song called "Close the Door." I'm at work now, but I will try to find a link or post a copy later this weekend. If you like blues/rock (SRV) guitar music, you gotta check this guy out.
  2. I may hit you up one of these days. I've done a little with a friend who has quite a bit of equipment. Being from Michigan, you would appreciate our last brew - a Bells Two Hearted Ale clone. It turned out great - without a doubt one of the best beers I have ever drank. Blows me away that we could do that in someones home, and that not counting the equipment, the cost of the beer itself is about half what you'd pay from the store. It's definitely a fun hobby and once I have a bit more time, I plan to get into it more.
  3. There are several 1st Gens listed for sale in our classified section here at VentureRider.
  4. I have a feeling that you didn't get the driveshaft seated, even though you said that you did. That job is a real mutha. I couldn't get mine in at Kbays MD, and finally had to let Squidly do it.
  5. Wow. That is a beauty. I really love the look of older bikes. I really need to get my 81 Midnight Maxim back on the road. So is yours all original (other than what was removed) or has it been restored/repainted?
  6. Here's the web address for Russell: http://www.day-long.com/index.html RR has provided the differences. There is much more detailed info on the web site. These do look pricey, but I need to do something so I'm leaning towards the Russell at this time. I have a Corbin now, so the Butler mod is not an option. (Rick has stated previously that he prefers not to mod the Corbin) Other options would be some other aftermarket seat (Mustang?) or trying to locate a pillow top. I assume I would pay almost as much for a stock pillow top from Yamaha or a Mustang as for the Russell, so that seems the way to go, unless I can find a good condition used pillow top. I've been checking ebay but no luck. Anybody here have one for sale, or other ideas where to find one, and what should I expect to pay for one? Thanks.
  7. When I walk out of my house in the morning and take a few steps toward my neighbors home, he could misinterpret that I'm on my way over there to rob and kill him, but that doesn't give him the right to shoot me, even if he is a LEO. My point is that everything we do is subject to interpretation. The officer in this case, it would seem, had a lot of options other than the one he chose. I suspect, as others have pointed out, that he chose the one he did in part due to a lack of training.
  8. Come on guys... you know the rules... Where are the PICTURES!
  9. I guess I'll just have to try it and see how it effects rideability.
  10. No rain in the Galleria either. Does look a little dark towards the southwest out my window though, so maybe he's not making excuses.
  11. I'm resurecting this thread. Just wondering if there are any additional (low cost) ideas? I don't have a hitch so the carriers in the above links would get costly. (carrier + hitch) I've thought about taking off one of the side bags and trying to rig something up, but haven't had the chance. Not sure what that would do to handling dynamics unless I put some weight on the other side too. Thought about strapping it to the passenger seat but that doesn't sound too good either. I'm a little concerned about the extra width. Maybe it wouldn't be a problem. So, who else has tried this? Any of you engineer types have any thoughts on any of these ideas? Thanks!
  12. This is interesting. What is the cost of this mod and where do you get the items? Also, how difficult of a job is this? Thanks.
  13. Cool, Thanks. Looking forward to seeing your pics. Then I'll have to see if I can get Rick to reconsider working on my Corbin.

How does this work? there's not much detail on that web site. I don't understand why people get so upset about snipers. You bid the max you're willing to pay and if someone outbids you, then they wanted it more than you did. What difference does it make if they bid an hour or 5 seconds before the end of the auction?
  15. Yeah, i forgot about the Rocket III. Add it to my list too. That one is SWEEEEEEEET!!!
  16. Thank you Sir! Or is that Squidley Poo Sir?
  17. Anybody know what year they started using the upgraded parts? I'll try to remember to check my 2001 when I get home tonight. Great info! Thanks for refreshing this thread.
  18. HF = Harbor Freight.
  19. That's a tough one. It would be hard to replace the best! I like the looks of the Ultra Classic best of all the rest, but not keen on v-twins. I'd ride it first and if I didn't like it then I'd probably go sporty. If money were no object I would test ride the BMW 1200LT and the Kaw Concours 14 and also take a run on the new Honda VFR 1200. Also on the list would be the FJR and the Honda ST1300. Since I've never riden any of these bikes, I can't pick one without trying them all out. I would probably go with which ever one of those was the best fit. I have a feeling it would be either the Concours 14 or the BMW.
  20. SONGS... NOT GROUPS OR ARTISTS ONLY... Tell us the SONGS! Many of you are not paying attention. As the title says... please "be specific."
  21. Wow. $300 each? Yeah I think you could make something similar with some 4x4 and 2x6 lumber. I think you can buy 2x6 in 10 ft lengths. Cut em in half, then rip each piece diagonally to create 4 sloped pieces. Glue em and screw em together and each 2x6 will make a ramp about 7+ inches wide. Add more pieces until you have the width you want and attach the 4x4 for the step support for the ramp. Or keep the 7 inch width and make several to keep them lighter. Might even want to glue on something non slip or spray em with bed liner. These will be 64 inches in length, almost the same as the fancy $300 ones.
  22. Hope y'all are having a great time. My golf tournament ran late and I just got home, so we won't be able to make it up. Catch you next time!
  23. I think your presures are a little low. I run about 40 in my front Avon and 50 in my rear Metzler. Do a search on Avon tire pressure and you should find several previous discussions here.
  24. That's a cute house. I love VRBO. I always check there first before traveling anywhere.
