  1. Yeah really. I was just getting to know you as Rusty. Oh well. as long as YOU are happy that's all that counts.
  2. Good suggestion. South Texas is great in the winter - But hotter than "you know where" in the summer. I've been in Houston for 27 years after my first 24 in Iowa. I've pretty well adjusted to the summers, but I wouldn't mind somewhere cooler. But the winters are great. Anywhere that I can bike and golf in Dec/Jan is alright with me.

    new enough

Hmmm... Just checked these guys out and maybe I'm not looking in the right place for the deals. I need some boots and New Enough's prices are much higher than LeatherUp. Also, very little selection in cruiser style boots.
  4. Thanks Hig! This group is so awesome! Just post a question and in a little while you have everything you need.
  5. Ok what is the trick here? The passing lamp and turn signal on the right side has worked loose and I can't seem to figure out how to tighten it. It seems like I need to screw the passing lamp into the turn signal shaft, but it hits the fairing. Do I have to remove the whole assembly? And if that's the case, then how did it work itself loose? Very strange unless I'm missing something really obvious.
  6. Thank you!! Boy do I feel stupid!
  7. I was wondering if there is any way that in the right corner of the posts that we could put the state and/or country along with the city. It would be nice to know where each person posting is from and I don't recognize a lot of the cities and I sure don't know each of the states and country's flags. I know I can look at the user's profile, and sometimes I do, but it would be nice if it were right there on the post. Anybody agree?
  8. I'm interested in getting 2 of them.
  9. I hope we get some replies on this. I have the same problem.
  10. Oops. I guess I should have said re-read YOUR original post.
  11. Please re-read the original post. He is saying there is not enough choice in powertrains. He doesn't say anything about looks. The RSV has a completely different powertrain than the Harley V-twin. (and runs circles around them in performance)
  12. Why are my comments being turned into a 1st gen vs. 2nd gen issue. Please check my posts. I have not said one word about 1st gen bikes. The only bike I knocked in the least was the Goldwing. I love the 1st gen bike. I almost bought a 1st gen bike. In fact, the only reason I didn't was I didn't have the cash to pay for it, I needed a loan, and my credit union required the bike to be less than 10 years old. So enough already on the 1st gen / 2nd gen comments. Let's get back to speculating on 3rd gen, which is what THIS thread is supposed to be all about.

    How long

1974 Suzuki TS-185 at age 17. Rode that bike all over Cedar Falls / Waterloo, Iowa throughout HS and college. Took it with me to Houston in 1982 but almost never rode it. Finally gave it away around 1996 to a friend who was going to bring in back to life, but I think he junked it. 1981 Yamaha Midnight Maxim 650 bought in 2002. Age 44. I still have it. 2001 RSV bought in December 2007. Age 50.
  14. Hmmm... Seems like there are lots of choices. Second Gen RSV is NOT a Harley clone due to the V-4 rather than V-twin. Wing is certainly not a Harley clone. Voyager probably could be a Harley clone, although from what I've read it's a far superior power train with all the modern bells and whistles. If you want sporty, the Kaw Concours 14 sounds like a sweet ride. Yamaha's FJR can also be set up for touring. I'm sure I've missed several others. Like I said... seems to be lots of Non-Harley choices.
  15. I have the ME880 on my RSV. I think thats the model in your photo. Not sure if the requirements are the same for 1st gen but I run 38 lbs in mine. 40 when I ride two up. Also, you may want to check for other threads on this tire. I understand some have had some problems with this model. (the ME880) check to see if yours was made in Germany or Brazil. I think it's the Brazil model that has the problems.
  16. I have admired the CBX for years. I saw a couple of lesser examples for sale in a shop in S. Houston a few years ago. That is one beautiful classic bike. Wish I had an extra 12 grand laying around.
  17. Sorry, I thought my point was obvious. I don't want my luxury touring bike to look like a 2 wheeled car - aka a goldwing. I want to see the motor, not cover it up with sheets of plastic shrouding. whether the fins on the rsv are made of plastic, aluminum or green cheese is irrelevant to that point.
  18. As some have stated already, it seems to make sense that a new Venture would need to capture a new demographic. The mc rider that rode a crotch rocket in his twenties and is now in his mid 30's to mid 40's is probably the one that makes the most economic sense. My desire would be to take the Vmax motor and put it in something in-between a Goldwing and an FJR. The riding and foot position needs to be more comfortable than the FJR but retain the carving abilities and PLEASE don't cover up that beautiful motor with a bunch of plastic.
  19. I would have a hard time resisting doing any or all of these if I had the opportunity. In fact if I had been leading that group I think I'd have taken the whole group immediately up into his drive and knocked on the door. I'd love to see his response / reaction.
  20. When I come to this site and read a few threads, then leave and come back later, and click on new posts, threads that I didn't look at the last time are being marked as read. (no longer in bold print) Is there some way I can set up my account so this won't happen? Thanks.
  21. I'd have to agree. If a 1st gen can do a legitimate 3.6, then there's no way the 2nd gen would take 7.0 - twice as long to do 0-60. I thought that seemed pretty high. I have a 4 cyl car that does under 7.0 and my RSV sure feels a lot faster.
  22. Thank you KiteSquid. That's exectly what I was looking for. Couldn't seem to find it when I did a Google search. I must say, she feels a bit faster than that to me. I sure thought top speed was higher than 106, since I've gotten up to about 90 in 3rd gear. I think those numbers may be a bit conservative, but I'm sure they're in the neighborhood. Thanks much for finiding them.
  23. Anybody know the approximate 0-60 time for a stock RSV? I just want to know when I'm sitting at the line and need to get in front of somebody, what cars might be tough to beat.
  24. Tom, Instructions say 1 can treats 20 gallons. I put in 1/2 can in a full tank. How much do you use? I put the other half in a sealed glass jar with a metal lid. Any idea if it will store OK or should I use the rest with my next fill up? How about your experience the first time you used it - did it gunk up your oil or fuel filter? Thanks.
  25. Do you think 44K will loosen things up in the tank and require a sooner than normal changing out of the fuel filter? My current filter only has about 300 miles on it. Also, should I change out my oil ahead of schedule? I've got about 130 miles on the scoot since I put half a can of 44K in the tank and filled up. I changed oil about 150 miles before that. I did not change the oil filter with the most recent oil change. Thanks.
