  1. congradulations Gary. sweet lookin ride buddy. looking forward to many more ventures with you.
  2. i did my carb diaphragms and your article was right beside me following all your tips. all went smooth. a members had asked what about if the carbs are still on the bike. take the air cleaner cover off, take out the air filter and use a long screwdriver to hold the diaphragm plunger while putting the long spring and cover back on.
  3. they are good, hard to do when you first go at it, practice, practice and it gets easier. make sure the aluminum is clean, scrub the area that you are welding, i have little wire brushes that i brush well before using the rods. i use a torch that has a hose on it so that i have a more controlled flame. the portable torches when you tip them the flame goes up and down and are useless when trying to use this product.
  4. i have the same year bike and last season same thing, pulled away and green antifreeze coming out of lower fairing. pulled the lower farings , checked and found the rad was leaking from the backside down near the bottom. yami want 800 bucks for a rad, so i had mine recored for 200.
  5. Bob, dont do it, just my opinion. look at any motorhome towing a car, the driven wheels are off the ground. the Venture is designed to be running to lubricate bearings, bushings etc. disconnecting the driveshaft is a fairly complex job, and then when you get to where you wanted, you gotta put her back in. find an old boat trailer and put a u-channel up the middle. boat trailer is wide and stable for towing a bike. get some good tie down straps, (not the cheap ones, the hooks on the ends are no good, trust me, i found out the hard way with a 300 lb dirt bike.)
  6. congrats buddy, nice unit. welcome to the new world. i suppose you want my address in longitude and latitude now:rotf: see you soon.
  7. i.ve got a spare one too. you never know when you may throw the old one out. i have converted to the spin on filter, old one sitting in the spare parts bin. my bin is nothing like Bobs though.
  8. =========================================================== sorry to let you down, it is not my bike. i seen this on a vmaxx web site and i thought it was cool. just had to put it on to get the adrenalin going as it is winter up here and too much snow to ride yet. cheers, Scott

  10. save your money. a bunch of us on here have tried. the LED is not as bright, and the bulb failure light stays lit on the dash driving you nuts. try a 2357 bulb, yes i draws more current when braking but is much brighter.
  11. moonshine, i am marking this one on my calender. Lou, don't run into me, i might hurt something on your bike.
  12. i know where my bells are hanging.
  13. you will be okay. all we can do is say our prayers for them and that we can enjoy another day. just be glad he did not take you with him. hwy 400 northbound up near Barrie, total sheet of ice, i call them dinosaurs/SUV's flying past with their family on board, warp 2, pulling a trailer. sure enough as he goes past me, the whole thing going in circles. one loop, two loops, and off the road he goes, skidoo's flying everywhere, truck rolling over into the ditch. another truck went by wiped out and goes into the ditch just ahead of the first guy. these turkeys drive this highway every weekend to go up north to relax. all we can try to do is drive safe. cheers, Scott
  14. we bought one also. our first one was white, then grey by the end of the season. i got a new black one for christmas. cheers, Scott
  15. Thank God you are still with us. it is never good news when we hear that one of our brothers or sisters has gone down. take your time and heal well. the bike can be repaired by the sounds of it. i went down last Sept and i am in the process of putting back together the left side of my bike. you will find the parts little by little. i used Plastex to repair all my fairing and lower fairings, it is great stuff to work with. what kind of tires do you run? did the front tire lock when you went down? i have Metzler on the front of mine and the front tire locked, slid and i went down. i am now installing Avon front and going to try one of these TCB (total control braking) units on the front. Scott
  16. use it for monitoring 19 while travelling use it for group rides monitor channel 29 for other ventures, if i see one i usually holler on the mike and always wave.
  17. 25 years, that is a rare feat to achieve these days. does Margeret get a trophy? Cheers, Scott and Sherry
  18. thanks Carl, my diaphrams are in transit in the mail and should arrive over the next couple of days. i will be printing this article and taking it out to the garage while doing the new diaphram replacement. cheers, Scott
  19. thats cause he likes to be at the top of the ladder with his Kilt on.
  20. how many ventureriders will it hold Don. we may end up with a mini Tsunami with all the Canadians showing up and wanting to pile into the hottub. we have topless Tuesdays in our pool during the summer, send those girls up my way will you.
  21. Ohh Sherry had a pair of magnetic sunglasses, she lost them before even getting on the bike. i didnt like the little magnets they use. now if they had a big magnet and you have a metal plate in your head they may work. i use a pair of clip ons that flip up, so while driving if i go through a tunnel i can just flip them up. i do like the idea of duct tape. my next pair will be transitions.
  22. Naugh-t was nice, ha, did the cold get to her. is that Bon Soo guy a relative of the tooth fairy. snow is a four letter work, as it cuts into our bike riding season.
  23. i can't imagine what you are going through, but i am glad we are all here to help you in whatever way we can. Sherry and i we honored to have spent some great rides with you guys. excellent memories that will never be forgotten, she was an awesome person that touched so many hearts. Scott and Sherry
  24. having a child is the best gift ever. Cheers, Scott and Sherry
  25. is the popping noise maybe coming from the exhaust. these bikes are known for the exhaust collectors to rust and have holes in it, or the where the pipes go into the collector rust out. my 86 did. when the bike is cold start it up, lay down on your back put your hand up around the exhaust collector and feel for any exhaust leakage before the exhaust system gets too hot. i have an 86 also, keep in touch. cheers, Scott
