  5. why is it that you have to pay your insurance on time or your policy will be cancelled, but if you have an accident (Sept 6 2007), it takes so long (4 months and waiting) to get the cheque for damages to my bike that the other party caused.
  6. hey Don, the mailman was at the door shaking the package and i thought Santa was here early. Sherry and i have hung our jingle bells on the Christmas tree until bike riding season comes around. they are excellent, what a great job, well done. Merry Christmas, Scott

  11. hi Jay what about battery operated gloves, check into a snowmobile shop they should have them. one D size cell goes in the cuff of each glove. or try your local fishing store, they have little single use hot packs, give it a squeeze stick it in your glove and they stay warm for a few hours. i have electric socks , one D cell and they dont get hot, but they do keep your toes warm. cheers, Scott
  12. hey Charlie how much beer can you put in that napsack? my first street bike was a Kawi 400 two stroke triple, went on a 3 week camping trip up your way, Manitoulin, Wawa, Pancake Bay, up around to Thunder Bay. i will never forget that trip, campin on beaches, out in the woods, just me and my machine. now i'm spoiled. cheers, Scott
  13. there are a couple of spots that leaks can develop, mainly from the exhaust collector. my collector had rusted out pipes exiting from the collector. i started the bike while all pipes were still cold got under real quick used my hand to feel where it was leaking and sure enough i could feel exhaust blowing out. i picked up a replacement collector from ebay which was in great condition, bought new exhaust gaskets, and replaced the collector. when removing the collector i found it easier to loosen the front exhaust pipes and remove them. a bit more work but i found it much easier to work on. the collector also has a baffle inside and mine was flopping around inside the old collector when i took it off. if you have this trouble also do a search as there are posts on here on how to repair that as well. i have also installed road king mufflers which i bought off ebay for ten bucks, if you are interested in that at some point, do a search and we have a few of us who have done it and there are some pics there also. let us know how you make out cheers, Scott
  14. our Rogers cable was off for two and half weeks in July and five days in September, boy talk about withdrawals. they now have a temp line running to the house since september, signal is crappy and we still have to pay for this service. we are seriously thinking of going to the telephone company to get the Bell internet.
  15. thank you for letting us know how he is doing. there is not a day that goes by that i think about our buddy. when or if he is ready for visitors please let us know. we are all pulling for you Gary. Scott and Sherry
  16. glad to hear you are on the mend. once they get you going on the physiotherapy, its hard to do, but then you know you are on your way back to normal. accidents suck. i had mine in September just weeks before yours, same scenario, dummy made a left in front of me. i am fortunate nothing broken, lots of road rash and bruises like i never seen before. 31 years of riding and this was the first one. i am now able to go up and down stairs. listen to the docs and therapists, take your time. i have been back on my bike and it is still an awesome feeling, i am glad that you still have that drive to get back on and ride. congrats on the big question, may you have many years of happiness. cheers, Scott
  17. that ebay link is where i bought my kit from a couple of months ago, this seller puts the kits on for 19.99, check his store list as that is what i payed and he delivers quick. i made a heated jacket for the wife. flexible wire is needed as we dont realize how much movement we actually do getting on and off the bike. the teflon coated wire withstands the high temp. i installed the wire on the fronts of the sleeves staying away from the armpits as earlier stated, more up and down passes on the front chest area of the vest than on the rear. the only complaint my wife had is that she found the shoulder blade area is too warm, so i will reroute the wire away from this area. i used a tiewrap to secure the lead in wire to the coat and left some slack where the teflon wire attaches to the lead in wire, soldered and shrink wrapped it. i used a cigarette lighter plug on the end of the lead in wire as i have a lighter plug on the back of my 86. my wife is real happy with it. she plugges it in and leaves it on. when i was looking into doing heated clothing, i googled heated clothing and here are a couple of pages that came up, one of them good for you Lynn as the guy did some heated gloves and socks. Lynn i didn't know you were looking into doing this, as my daughter Janice had the heated jacket on under her jacket during your last covered bridge hunt/meet and eat and she was toasty warm and had to unplug the vest as the afternoon warmed up. www.shadowriders.org/faq/electricvests.html www.ibmwr.org/otech/heatedclothing.html cheers, Scott
  18. well, after my bike accident in september one, of the broken parts was the plastic locking mechanism on the radio tray. one of our great members (thanks Bongobob) had a good spare lock assembly with no key. i sat and anylized how i would get the tumbler out and install my tumbler out of the broken assembly. i figured it out and by drilling a small hole in the plastic of the good assembly, inserting a small screwdriver i was able to remove the tumbler and install my bikes original tumbler into the good plastic lock assembly. if anyone needs to know where to drill the one hole, p/m me and i will give you instuctions. cheers, Scott
  19. i have installed a pair of road king mufflers i picked up off ebay for 10 bucks. i think the guy said they were off a 2003, and they were brand spankin new. all you need is a couple of adapter pipes i picked up at a local store for less than ten bucks each pipe (need two) or get your local muffler shop to bend a couple short adapter pipes. i fabricated a couple of brackets to attach mufflers to the back bag racks. this project was so simple and looks good. i have the pipes flush with the back chrome trim. they look sweet. any questions p/m me. cheers, Scott
  20. ======================================================= sorry that i upset you bud, just trying to help.
  21. hi guys from Mother/VE3SCO/Scott (hey Scotty i like your callsign too) there is a club in Califorria that deals specifically with motorcycles and ham radio. i will look and see if i can find their website. they have examples of setups that the guys and gals have on their bikes. i take my kenwood 2 meter and 70 cm yeasu portable radios with me on some trips. when i pull over for the night i will get on a few repeaters and see what is happening. 73's
