Don, take care of yourself, us kids are still having fun and behaving. okay, one out of two is not bad. cheers, Scott

after my bike accident i looked into these systems also. i am still having trouble if i have to put my left leg down especially in stop and go traffic, which i avoid now. i talked to a guy to has one of these on his Wing and he loves it. when coming to a stop he told me you have to make sure the road or parking lot are level, because once the landing gear automatically comes down, it will tip you over if you are stopping on a camber. he told me he has gone over a few times in parking lots when he first had it installed. he now knows to read the stopping spot. he also had a switch installed to bypass the system, but he said that the system works great once you get used to it. cheers, Scott

once the ticket is written up, have some fun, ask the officer "aren;t you Andy, no Barney, ahhhh you are one of the Village People". and finally, "thank goodness you never checked the trunk". i hope Steve wins this one. cheers, Scott

Wanted - RH saddlebag lid for 87 VR
mother replied to Gearhead's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
get some electrical wire, make 4 - 12 inch lengths of wire. buy 8 electrical crimp on connectors, the ones with a hole in the end. crimp one of the loop connectors on each end of the 4 wires. remove your lid, take one screw out of the front and rear lock, and remove one srcew out of the latch front and back. install the wire tether to the lid lock and the other end to the saddlebag latch on the front, then install another wire tether to the set on the back. now do the other bag the same way. now you will never loose the lid, and they hang nicely on the side of the saddlebag when removed, rather than falling off the seat or the trunkbox. hope this helps:smile5: cheers, Scott- 15 replies

when everyone was asleep, i got up and set all the clocks in the house ahead 2 hours. when our girls alarm clocks went off, we all got up and had breakfast together. only trouble it was not 7am, it was actually 5am. talk about women being grumpy. i also taped down all the phone receiver buttons and used my cell to call the house.

i can vouch that the mk1 (83-85) 1200 cc is faster than the mk11 (86-90) 1300cc. there is this feller south of the border that i know, and we were doing some throttle roll on comparisons, same speed, same gear, even if i rolled on the throttle a second sooner his 1200 would walk away from my 1300. we did 1st gear roll on, 2nd gear roll on, and 3rd gear roll on and he was faster accelerating on all three. we did not do 4th or 5th gear tests as this test was done on a clear, empty, pedestrian free road and we were doing so in a safe manner and respecting the speed limits.

well, you should have Taters driving and with you on the back you can use your hand to block the sun from the screen. hows that for a solution. Cheers, Scott p.s. there are a couple of vendors on ebay that have a GPS sunblock hoods for sale for around $20

i picked up a pair for my 86 off ebay for 10 bucks. they are a little louder than stock, when you roll on the throttle they sound real nice. kinda like a nascar engine under throttle. they mount on real easy, they look great and the price was cheap. cheers, Scott

wow, there were quite a few brave souls who rode their bikes, even though it was below zero. lots of people walking and checking out the vendors. we had a great meal, did some walking and checking out the customs, only seen one 84 or 85 goldie. the outdoor beer garden had cold beer. we did not find any live bands this time. cheers, Scott

hi Ed and congrats on the new addition. i have an 86 with 130,000 so far, runs like a charm. i get 40 to 44 mpg. you should set the reserve on the tank to the reserve position. the tank holds 21 litres and i have gone up to 350 kilometers on a tank. there are maintenance items that we do on our bikes to bring it up to an extemely reliable and comfortable machine. give us a shout anytime you need help cheers, Scott

Just purchsed an 88VR - need clutch advice
mother replied to Evan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
hello Evan and welcome to the greatest forum. i have an 86 and when i picked it up the clutch slave cylinder was weeping and i rebuilt it by installing the new rubber seals in the winter season. if i knew the slaves were as cheap as they are, i would have picked up a new one. they are a bit of a pain to do just because of the slaves location, but it can be done if you are patient and handy with basic tools and know how to bleed a system. if you need any help please feel free to contact me as i am in the north east Toronto area. cheers, Scott -
i tried them until one day the guage part became slightly unscrewed and i ended up with a flat tire.

the slow race line up three bikes, they start off, balancing, slipping the clutch, and the last one across the finish line wins, the second gens should be good at the slow race.

but how does Jeff keep the muffins from falling off that rack. anyway we do go camping on our bike, 4 man pop up tent that i bungie on to the rear trunk rack, an inflatable queen size air mattress and small air pump that runs on a couple of d cells, a couple of sheets, a warm flannel blanket, a soft cooler bag. most campgrounds sell ice, we do a sudz stop before we get to the camp. you can also pick up snacks and firewood at the camp store. the tent on the trunk box does make the bike even more top heavy, so i dont do any slow sharp manouvers. cheers, Scott
