  1. Nice Bike, how does it compare to the old 87VR?
  2. I did have a leak on mine, it was the hose. When I first turned on the ignition switch I could hear it sucking air. I would check the hose and the actuator diaphram also.
  3. Have you checked your spark plugs to see if it's running lean or rich? Also check the rubber boots from the cylinder head to the carbs for cracks, from the pics they looked pretty good but I thought it was an idea:Cartoon_397:
  4. Clutchless shifting that is. Once I get up to 3rd gear, alot of times I am guilty of shifting to 4th and 5th without the clutch. I let of the gas of course, but does it do any damage. It's pretty smooth. Just wondering if I am the only one?
  5. Thanks for all the information people. It's sure nice to have people to help out and help you to make an informed judgement. Thanks again!
  6. I had some Jardines on a shadow that were very loud.
  7. Whats the best sounding exhaust on a 1st generation venture? I've been seeing where alot of people have been putting on the HD roadking slipons. I would love to here some sound clips if you gotem! Thanks:thumbsup2:
  8. You got me interested, the reason I don't ride much at night is cause I don't see as well as I used to. The lighting on mine kinda stinks. I monuted some driving lights down low on the engine guards, but I get a lot of brights being flashed at me cause they are mounted so low it's hard to get much distance out of them without blinding oncomming traffic. Let us no how it all works out.
  9. I've been thinking of sprucing up the old blue goose. What's the best color you have seen on a 1st gen. It has'nt got to be a stock color. You no how some colors just don't look right on some bikes. That's what I'm trying to avoid. Post some pics if possible or color codes. Thanks:mytruck1:

  11. Thanks for the information. Is this a pretty easy repair?
  12. I have been seeing a little coolant on the engine. This is on a 1st gen 1992 model. I see some under the bike, usually the next day after it has been riden. There is a small hole(I suppose it is a drain or something on the side of the head). The hole is under the plate on the side on the cylinder block. It looks like some has drained under the plate. It nevers does it while it's hot, or when I look at it for that matter. Beside the spark plug there is a large allen head bolt. From looking at the parts break down, there are o'rings in there somewhere. Anyone ever seen this before or had to replace these o'rings. Anything special I need to know before taking out this plug?
  13. Yeah, it was a pretty good race. I was a little disappointed they did'nt get to run the full 500 miles. I hope Kasey can pick it up this year!
  14. I know the price effects people in different ways and it sounds like some of you work for the oil company. I don't have any problem with that, and you are correct that alot has to do with supply and demand. But when I hear about how much the oil company makes in profit in 1/4. I really have a hard time feeling sorry for them, however I do understand it always hits the little man first. By the way, it has gone up 40 cents a gallon in the last week here!
  15. Have not fixed it yet, it was dark by the time we got home. I plan to get on it today. I have'nt ever messed with these cables but once and they were a bear to get back on! Anybody got any tricks they want to pass on?
