  1. Bump - took to ling to find the next target. RR
  2. George, Very nice bike. You have a lot of states to fill in on your map. Enjoy. RR
  3. If you get the Buddy Rich cable, it sets up flawlessly. I have the setup on my RSV and it sounds better than in my truck. Search the forums for details. RR
  4. Just remember the key word here is "parked" in front of a Kenworth. I need to get the Venture out of storage. RR
  5. Pick up a copy of "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil". It is a story about folks in Savannah. There are tours there that point out the places of interest from the book. It is a good read also. Good luck getting you tire fixed quickly. Ride safely and post pics. I love Savannah (My aunt lives there). RR
  6. Outstanding Scotty!!! Well done in the face of adversity. RR
  7. Buy a good set of riding clothes and a very good helmet. Go to a retailer of Aria and/or Shoei and try them on to find one that fits comfortably. If they are comfy, you will wear it more often. Best investment you can make. Good clothes are a comfort on the road and a lifesaver on the pavement. You will also want really good rain wear. Just my thoughts. It sure would be nice to have $2000 for farkles. RR
  8. Goose, See post #4. No hitch installed. However, very good input. I will be checking my bolts - as well as the frame loop. Scary. RR
  9. +1 on BuddyRich cable. It allows you to connect your Bluetooth phone thru the Zumo and speak handsfree using your headset. Assuming a full face helmet, it sound as good as a handsfree kit in the truck. RR
  10. The 08 is great for taller folks. It has a very high seat and you can get lots of items for alterations. Such as, raising links, peg lowering brackets, flat seat instead of one that pushes you forward, highway pegs on the engine guard, etc. I suggest www.klr650.net for a resource to get your farkles (Fun Accessories, Really Kool, Likely Expensive) FYI - you will need to adjust the shift and brake pedals down to accommodate the the peg lowering brackets. I know, I put them all (except the flat seat - waiting on budgeting) on my new 08 KLR. I'm 6'4" and it fits nicely now. It must be a trend.
  11. +1 on Black Owl. Speedbleeders make the job easy. Get the overflow bag kit when you order them. RR
  12. Get the cop to take the picture - that would be double bonus!! RR
  13. BradT has the right idea. Use a couple of soft straps to look around the forks so you don't need to worry about scratching them. Cinch in down so the forks are compressed, but not bottomed out. Make sure the tie down points are in front of the fork locations so the front tire will be pressed into the tire chock. You can tie down the back to the saddle bag rails since you don't really need to make them too tight. They are just there to keep the back end from walking around. As an alternative, just ride it . RR
  14. Steve, What, you don't want to fly down and ride it back? Take a round-about way and you can qualify for an Iron Butt (and a soft head). Look forward to seeing your new toy. Good luck in getting quality shipping. RR
  15. As preparation for a long trip, I put a 1 gallon gas can on the back of the bike and ran it to empty to see how much I would get on the highway. Came in at 211 indicated miles. As they say in the commercials - Your mileage will vary depending on your riding style etc. etc. I should give you some peace of mind. And it is a great excuse for burning a tank of gas for a ride!!! RR
  16. Went on two of them today with the new ride. The RSV is still in storage. The pic is of my '08 Kawa KLR650 on Rustic Road 82 just outside of Campbellsport. RR
  17. Steve, Sorry you got burned. I (and another member) had an issue previously and that is why he was banned. Digging thru my old emails the address I found is: Tim Moulton 4101 Passport Lane, Unit 202 New Port Richey, FL The previous phone number I had listed has been disconnected. In the end, he (or his wife/girlfriend - women's name on the account) sent me a check for most of the amount. Close enough to where I let it die. Good luck. RR
  18. You may want to check out the AirHawk seat pad. I have a 2000 RSV with stock seats and find the Airhawk keeps me comfortable for as many miles as I want to put on. Completed an Iron Butt SS1000 and BB1500 last year with it. Expensive, but worth it for me. However, much less than a custom seat. RR
  19. Steve, Picked up my KLR650 yesterday, installed crash bars, engine guard, skid plate, and a couple of other little gadgets. Will be taking it for a ride on the roads today and running thru Francis Marion Nat'l Forest OHV trails (40 mile track loop) on Thursday. I'll let you know how it went. Will also be posting pictures next week. Let the fun begin! RR
  20. EFI, ABS, 600W charging system. RR
  21. Yup, just waiting for a good rain to clean the roads and then - Wham - another 6 inches. However, I am heading to Charleston, SC on Sunday to pick up a new bike. Will be riding around for the week before I trailer it home. Pics will follow. This is an addition to the stable - not a replacement. RR
  22. Harley's use channel 41. They can't hear it anyway. RR
  23. You can program specific routes by using the offline software. You can enter your own POI list and then adjust the automatic routing. Once you get the routing the way you want it, download it to the Zumo. Once in the Zumo, disable the autoroute recalcuation feature to prevent it from overwriting all the cool routing adjustments you made offline. The Zumo will then follow right along the route you designed. There is a tutorial on advriders.com that covers a lot of this. FYI, if you don't want to store all your POIs on the Zumo, you can keep them on an SD card. You can then load them as needed. The Zumo seems to be the benchmark all other motorcycle GPSs get compared to. Others are cheaper, but after using the 550 for a year, I would pay more for the Zumo550. RR
  24. Congrats on the new bike. Just remember, in your exuberance, when you pull into the garage, put the kickstand down before you jump off. Don't ask me how I know:whistling:. RR
  25. I'm glad those shirts weren't around when my boys were that age. I suspect the divorce would have happened 10 years sooner. RR
