    I would expect the one wound in the wrong direction was meant for a bike sold in the southern hemisphere.

    The Plasti-dip works good but the Liquid Tape I tried would dissolve when gas hit it.

    Bought a bunch of that stuff at a fire sale once... real cheap.

    Careful about blowing out the fans with compresser air, you should either unplug them or put you finger on the fan while blowing them out. I destroyed a Dell once this way as the spinning fan induced a voltage into the fan controller chip which never quite worked the same after that.

    I took a look at the "Bling" parts bike I have. Looks like the guard mounts between the fork and the fender.

    I had an 850 Special also, bought it there at Bristol... Canters Cycle Sales, I think it was called, there on Volunteer Parkway. I want to think it was 1981. A long time ago indeed.....

    I was at one of my customers in Tellico Plains,TN yesterday and saw the tornado that went through town form. Zoom in to the left of the power poles straight above the nose of the truck. You can see the whisp of cloud as the tornado begins to form. Started raining hard after this so I went into the building.

    Could the motor mounts and/or other frame components cause this kind of problem?

    I hated to let it go! I thought I was helping the family out by selling it, turns out they just helped themselves and I ended up without a bike. The person I bought it from lived South East of Atlanta in Georgia. So, from Georgia to Tennessee to Ohio to Louisiana and now to Alabama. Just a big circle...

    With those fancy block off plates that Skydoc has invented, someone should invent a way of filling the fork oil without having to take the tube tops off ;-)

    It would seem to me that if the red light sensor can't see you then the camera sensor shouldn't be able to either...

    One symptom would be idle not staying the same, it would wander up and down or not drop back quickly after blipping the throttle.

    The video almost looks like the dogs have been sheared off. If so, they could be trapped between the two gears and not end up in the bottom of the transmission...

    OK, just didn't want you to expect to be close to the Interstate and find yourself way out in the boonies... I live maybe 15 miles from Big Ridge as the crow flies. Many fond memories of my Grandmother taking us swimming there. Let me know when you get there and we'll try for dinner one evening.

    Maybe it's just a human nature thing... Wanting to take control over something that's critical and important in that it functions correctly and not completely trusting the system to work without a possibility of failure. Or it could be that we just like to have a fancy switch to flip...

    I had trouble getting my cover to fit also. I found there was a 1/4 inch thick layer of insulating "tar" paper stuck to the bottom side of the tank cover. Once I removed it, the cover fit with no problems.

    Thanks guys, I'll see if I can find an elbow. Should it be ABS or PVC? (is the gray conduit for electrical made of ABS?) I did notice that the antifreeze was very slick to the touch so I'll drain it before trying to glue anything on.

    I know this is an older post but was wondering what I could do to temporarily repair the elbow so that I could ride a little bit while the weather is warm? There has been a repair made to this pipe before by a previous owner but it continues to leak (Motorcycle takes a whiz when I stop riding... ) What about sawing out the damaged area and slipping a preformed piece of automotive water hose over the nubs sticking out? Maybe a piece of plastic water pipe elbow split down the middle and sandwiched over the leaky pipe on the bike? I'm open to suggestions and realize the best fix is to replace but can't afford to spend a lot of money right now.

    Would it be OK to run without the plug cap resistors if using resistor type spark plugs?
