I have an '89 VR and I've seen many posts telling me to move the TCI from it's mounted location to the top of the air filter box. Well, I've spent the last three days working on this and other mods to come to the conclusion that the TCI won't let the faux cover fit. It's being held off by at least a half inch. I'm wondering if I should cut the TCI mounting tabs off to provide a little more clearance. Any help would be appreciated.

Good deal. My wife has received her renewal notice (KC4PNC) but I hadn't yet. I had my license before she did so it must be from when I made General... Thanks for looking.

I'm not even sure if my license is still valid it's been so long since I've been on the radio. Used to use 2 Meter in the car but cell phones made it less of a necessity when I needed to call home. I guess you could call me a silent key ... _._ KC4NBU

What's soft on the inside and hard on the outside?

Wow, A great looking job! Did you glue the carpet into the sides and bottom? Was it sewn together before putting it in?- 23 replies

I'd like to buy some stock in your new company I think you could make millions! Get your dust from the cat box and include a straw to blow it into the tire!

Very nice job! This may be what I'll end up doing but I'm going to try the glue first. I wish the Plastex sold locally or I could find someone local using it, just so I could see it in action.

I think the fairing Skydoc sent is in better shape than the one I have! I may have to saw off the left side of mine and use it to fix his. I've seen the Plastex video and it looks intriguing but I'm on a tight budget and trying to squeak through as cheaply as possible (bad way to be but that's the way it is). I visited a plastic supply place in town and when I explained what I was trying to do, the salesman there gave me a glass bottle with an ABS glue inside. Apparently it had been sitting on his shelf for quite some time and he wanted rid of it. Says it's supposed to make a molecular bond in the ABS plastic. Worst condition is I've ruined two broken fairings, best condition is a repaired and functional fairing thanks to Skydoc. I'll know soon... and I'll try to get some pictures. I still need to find the hole in the elbow pipe and fix that leak. Oh, what fun...

Earl, That's exactly what I need! P.M. sent. Do you think my plan will work? If I need to, I can back the area with some fiberglass mat. Thanks for your help!

It sounds worse than it really is... At some point in its long life, my new to me '89 VR had fallen on its right side and damaged the chin fairing. One of the bolt holes on this side has been torn completely away. I'm wondering if someone might have a damaged chin laying around with a good right side? My plan is to graft this side onto mine using some glue I got from the plastic supply place. They say it's supposed to make a molecular bond with ABS plastic. We'll see when I try to repair the cracks... Any thoughts or help is appreciated.

Squidley, Do you remember if it was a VentureLine backrest? I have the VentureLine mount but don't have the backrest itself. I've thought about bending some stainless tubing and making my own, looks like the hinge that folds forward will be the most difficult part to fabricate. -
How about "o-vair" as in "over there" or "up-air" for "up there".

I had heard of the "pee on your foot" remedy but never thought of it until it was too late. My daughters Pit Bull came through one evening while I was sitting with my feet proped up and gave a lick between my toes. Seems to have cured my Atheletes foot.

The other thing to consider is the military uses Diesel almost exclusively. When "they" no longer allow us to have gasoline, you can cruise along in your 100-mile-range battery powered go-cart with your knees up against your chest, or steal a little fuel from the local military vehicle for your diesel powered motorcycle and really go places...

Thanks, It's nice to be back. Like a lot of other folk, it's been a tight year but I'm finally back on a Royale. Wife said there ain't no way I'm going to sell this one or she'd ... Anyway, you'd think a spinning rocket would be affected by gravity and deform the spiral as it was pulled to Earth. Besides, wouldn't you expect the smoke to be coming out one end and not both? I agree with you Squid, I don't accept the explanation given. Again I ask, lying signs and wonders?

What do you think of the strange spiral seen in the sky over Norway this past week? Video shows it forming then disappearing from the inside like a hole opened and swallowed it up. Signs and wonders

Why do you think they're talking about emptying out Guantanamo?

The most fun and maybe the shortest is via Highway 25 through the mountains to Newport TN where you can get back on to I-40 West. Best way is up I-26 from Asheville to Johnson City TN then South on I-81 to I-40 West.
-
Not sure of your route but if you're coming I-40 West to I-75 North, just remember I-40 is closed at the NC/TN border in the gorge by a rock slide. Be careful and good luck on your trip. Mike

Is it the TCI?

As I was going to suggest bypassing the kill switch and any other limit switch in circuit one at a time to eliminate them as a possibility. As far as the diaphragms, how do the old ones look and would you be interested in getting rid of them? I've drug home an '84 venture with minor problems. Now if I could sell this junky old Goldwing I could pay for the venture... Mike -
Uh, Brad, you might need to have a little talk with Randy as I recall there being side covers on the bike also ;-) I'm glad you have it home. I hope you weren't disappointed with the machine in any way. Good luck, be safe and get that rear tire replaced. Mike
