Sounds like the steering head is loose. try tightening a little bit and see if that helps. I had the same problem when I had the venture kit on the silver 99.

Jerry, if this is something you are interested in, go and check them out, but do not buy. You can find timeshares for sale by private owners for a fraction of the price. There are lots of us out there that would like to sell.
-
If you want to buy a timeshare, BUY MINE! NUFF SAID. Oh, I will sell it for half what I paid. Its in Kissimmee FL.

Ok, that just ain't right. Your going to scare the poor guy. Your suppose to wait at least a couple weeks before you pull out the brain eating spoon. Now get back to your rubber room. Who let you out anyway. Anyone know where the straight jacket is.

Rear tire on front, reversed. It last longer, so I'm told. -

We do this on trikes, but never heard of it on two wheels?? -
Me and computers don't get along. Comes with being a baby boomer. I grew up with black and white TV. That was higt tech to us. So here I am trying my best to stay up to date, and probably losing the battle. So as far as what i think of facebook, Well I don't much like the fact that the younger generation don't seem to know how to have a conversation with each other with out tapping it out on a computer or smart phone. They seem to have forgot that its call a phone and they can actually talk to the person on the other end. Now with all that said, I can tell you that I have a facebook page. Why? well I have found that it does serve one very good function. It is just about the only way to find lost friends with out leaving your house. Because of this, I have found over sixty shipmates form my days in the navy, from back in the late 70's. This could never have been possible 15 years ago. This high tech magic box that i am using right now has given me the ability to make new friends that I probably would never have met otherwise. its like everything else in the world. Some good, some bad. .

I remember that day as if it were yesterday. And will never forget. God willing. Of course theres a few things about that day I won't talk about. At least, not here.
-
It was a crusty old Chief that told me what they were all about. But only after I asked him why they kept ringing those anoying bells. You can imagine how that went over. Got a history of the navy that day.
-
Add 1 bell every half hour, starting with one bell at 0030, until you get to 8 bells. then start over. 8 bells in a 4 hour period. each 4 hours is one watch rotation. Oh, and it is not 1200 hours. it is just 1200. Never say the word "hours"

Repeter, Just in case you decide to continue on with the fork rebuild, I thought I would bring you up to date on my rebuild progress. Today I replaced all of the internal guide rings, the seals and dust cover. I installed the progressive springs and cut the pvc preload spacers as per progressive instructions. Only think left is to fill the forks with oil. Before I do that I have to wait 2 more days for the drain bolts to come in from yamaha. I have to replace them, I stripped the heads when I tried to remove them by hand. Need to use an impact wrench for this part. I plan to reassemble the front end this weekend. It's not as bad a job as I thought if would be. Waiting for all the parts to come in is the biggest pain in the a$$. If I had everything here I could have done this in a weekend. It would also have helped if there were more info on this project here on the site. There is a lot about the 1st gen forks, but not much for the second gen. Its the same basic idea, but the internal parts are not all the same. Anyhow, if you need any help just PM me.

Pinwall cycle has used grills.

I'm in the middle of the same project, and at the same point as you. Parts should be here today. I plan on having everything back together by this weekend. Just take your time, do a couple of steps a day. you will get there. This is my first fork rebuild and yes it is a little scary. But it is doable. I am also doing this on a 99 RSV. So if you have any questions just PM me. Talk about the blind leading the blind.

Sea foam, give it a couple of tanks of sea foam mix. Carbs are probably gummed up. Or get the dealer to pull and clean the carbs.
-
How long has it been sitting in the pawn shop? Carbs may be gumed up. $4000.00 is very good price for a 06. Probably just want to unload it. All years RSV's can have the whine. It can be at any speed. They are all different. Some are very bad, some not at all, some just a little. Most are mild and you just live with it, Because the rest of the bike is awsome. If it isn't all dinged up and runs good and not leaking fluids, I would by it. Put a little work and $$ and your friend could have a nice bike.

Got the bolt out. Used a 1/4" straight allen wrench with inpact wrench. Had to drive the allen wrench on with a hammer, came right out. Waiting on all new internal parts to come in, then i can reassemble the forks. Should have everthing back together by the weekend. I hope.

OH NO, not me. I have the snow blower ready to go. That should keep that white stuff away. Don't like snow,NO NO NO.

I got the forks off the bike,I just can't diassemble the tube with out getting that bolt out. I'm going to try a SAE allen wrench that is just a little over sized with a impact wrench this time.
-
Thats what I'm thinking, both tubes have the same marks. You can't see them with out the right lignting. Now the new problem. I stripped the hex bolt head on the bolt at the bottom of one of the forks. I guess I will try the hydrulic method, using a jack and filling the tube with oil and forcing the seal out with pressure. Looks good on utube.
