  1. SUPER BIG THANK YOU TO BONGOBOBNY:clap2:  Just got back from Bongobob's...had to stop and check out a german resturant in canandaigua on the way home, very good food...anyway all i can say to the folks here at ventureriders is you guyz are the best.Everyone is always looking out for our fellow riders. It took no more then 5 minutes from the time my post hit the forum that i had Bob on the phone, with a deal made and me and Robin on our way out the door. We're back at home with a new final drive so we can get back on the road. Your right right NYJERRY,this is family:thumbsup: I think a group hug is in order....oh come on you know you want too.
  2. I think I blew out my final drive on my 99rsv.We were out for the weekend, riding around the fingerlakes when after about 150 miles and several hour we made a pit stop. While rolling through the parking lot at slow speed I heard a god awful grinding, clanking, clicking noise coming from the final drive.Luckly since we were riding around the lakes we were only 25 mile from home.So we ended our weekend trip and headed straight home. got home ok,can't hear the noise at highway speed, but if sounds like it's coming apart when i roll the bike back and forth.Put it up on the jack, spun the rear wheel and it sounds really bad. Draned the oil, it was dark gray and smelled burnt. It was just changed out a couple weeks ago,I used mobil 1 gear oil. something has let go inside. But she still got us home.Anyway I'm looking for a new to me final drive, anyone do a trike kit that wants to sell there's.I contacted someone here on the classifieds but no answer yet.Probably out riding
  3. They need the vents, these bikes get hot.maybe not so bad without the lowers.I spent a lot of time checking out the voyager and nomad.they are nice, but not build as well as the venture.to much plastic, not as good fit and finish.
  4. Was someone here bidding on chrome frame covers on EBAY?If you were the winning bidder i guess you needed the alot more then me:crying:
  5. stock mufflers,i went from after market to stock, much quieter.
  6. When I was in Naples Italy back in the 70's we would give the cab drive an extra $5 bucks to get to where we were going FAST,did this just for kicks...I didn't know it was ok to drive on sidewalks!!??:shock3::scared:sure gets the heart pumpin.
  7. OH,almost forgot, check out our calssifieds here, some very nice bikes for sale by folks that know and love there bikes. Some folks selling because thier down on the thier luck right now.You could find a great bike and help someone out at the same time, and you'll know the history of the bike.Good luck finding the right ride.
  8. Me and my wife combined come in around 460lb.I can't tell the difference between 1 up and 2 up when it comes to power.By the time i get into 3rd gear were doing 60mph in only a few seconds. If you check out the pic's gallery here you will see bikes loaded with gear in places you wouldn't expext to see. Also pulling trailers loaded to the gills, with trailer over loaded and two over loaded americans on top.(we like to meet and eat):crackup:What I,m saying is nothing stops this bike from proforming:bowdown:Yes it can be a hand full with all that weight but it only takes practice and a little time to learn how to handle it.Once you get that down it is a blast to ride.
  9. welcome Humbucker, you just opened up a can of worms. But thats ok because your about to embark on a journey that will fully enlighten you to the wonderful world of the "RSV" a world full of opions, facts and fabel.I promise you you will learn more about the "RSV" then you may want to know:confused:  OK with that said,I got my rsv about 3 months ago.the wife and I love it.I sometimes think she more then me. but thats ok.before this bike i owned a vulcan 900,had to beg her to ride with me.now I can't keep her off of it...Should have keep the 900:innocent: But really it's a great bike, some what old school but very smooth and very reliable and lots of HP. injoy the ride:thumbsup2:
  10. I wish Goose would stop holding back and tell us how he really feels(LOL)
  11. Was that potato ice cream in Big Tom's hand????
  12. REPLACE THE CAR WITH A DITCH AND THATS JUST ABOUT WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE.
  13. YEP,THATS RIGHT,THE GUY THAT BOUGHT MY SHOW ROOM CONDITION, NEVER DROPPED,SPOTLESS 07 VULCAN 900LT DROVE OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND STRIGHT INTO THE DITCH ACROSS THE ROAD, RIGHT INFRONT OF ME.THE FIRST THING WENT THROUGH MY MIND WAS, IT'S IN HIS NAME,IT'S HIS BIKE.THANK GOD!!!! HE WASN'T HURT.ALL THOUGH I THINK I WANTED TO HURT HIM.
  14. If you look at your rear brake you can tell if it has a lowering kit by the possition of the brake caliper. If it is mounted below the swing arm it is lowered. If it is up behind the bags if probably wasn't lowered.
  15. Lets face it the RSV is a great highway bike but it don't handle worth a darn at low speed,Everyone here has a defferent oppion as to what to do to fix the problem. The real porblem is Yamaha has been making the same bike with the same problems for 12 years and hasn't done a damn this to to fix these problems.Don't get me wrong,I real like my bike but we shouldn't have to make all these mods after all these years to get the thing right.
  16. Yep,you guys are right,it's a barons lowering kit.I looked it up on the barons site.I bought the bike a couple months ago and i can't talk to the original owner cus he past away. The romming charge would be a killer! Thanks again for all your help.
  17. :confused24:OK,I just finished servicing the final drive on my 99 RSV.I used instructions I down loaded from this site, everything worked out just fine until I noticed that my brakes are not mounted the same way as the brakes in the pictures in the instructions.my rear calipers are mounted below the swing arm.Ever picture and diagram i have seen shows the caliper mounted above the swing arm.my mounting bracket is totally different.everthing hangs below the swing arm.Can anyone explain this????
  18. I don't think most people are looking for major changes to the venture.I believe most would like to just see up dates to the fuel system, the handling, the electronics, the braking system and option packages.every other company is up dating there bikes.Don't you think it's about time Yamme makes a great bike better?
  19. Looks like they had a bunch of 2010 "s" models sitting around and are calling them 2011's.I work for a John Deere dealer, thats what JD does when they are getting ready to come out with a new model. They sell off everything they can before they reless the new model.Don't be surprised if yamaha comes out with the new model later this year.Or i could be way off base and they will cancel the touring line like kawasaki did.
  20. What are you guy's complaining about.According to the features section it comes with a CD player not a tape deck:fingers-crossed-emo
  21. that why i do all my shopping at pinwall.got a complete exhaust system with 15000 miles on it for $200.00.New y pipes alone are $600.00 each new!!!!
  22. Can anyone tell me why i get a single click on deceleration between 35 an 45 mph.I,m not on the brakes ,not shifting, not touching the clutch, just slowing down.It sounds like an electrical relay opening or closing.Bike run fine,no other problems, just a click. Can't tell exactly where its coming from.
  23. don't forget the 15% discount at pioneer for ALL venturerider members!!!!
  24. It's not the brand,it's the people that work there.most people these days just show up at work to collect a pay check. They don't give two hoots about the job or the customers.
