    Got one!

That thing hanging down is a lowering kit, have one on my 99.I have the same color.enjoy your ride.
  2. Yamaha is doing what ever other company is doing in this economy. They are making products that are functional and low priced to fill the needs of those who need that product. They are doing what they have to to ride out the storm.when the economy bounces back, and it will, then watch out because their will be a flood of top end, high quality ,high priced goodies all over the place.Including a new gen 3 or what ever touring bike from yamaha. The only reason kawasaki came out with a new touring bike at the worse possible time was because it was in development for years before the economy took a dive.they were committed.change is inevitable. So lets just wait and see.
  3. Isn't this place great? All you have to do is mention the word cassette and everybody goes nuts.:shock3::starz:you guys sure are a lot of fun.
  4. As I said previously the more I ride this bike the more I like it.With that said,I have to agree with those who would like to see up grades and improvements. One guy said he parked his new bike next to a "99" and it was the same.As far as the look of the bike, thats ok with me.The bike is a great classic looking bike.I hope they never make any major changes to the classic design. How ever,it is time to make them more efficient, safer and better handling.I don't think anyone here wants a jetson mobile. If they do then go buy a vision. PS.i do hope they keep the jetson sound.
  5. I ride my rsv because my wife and I injoy it.It has enough power to haul our fat butts around. Heck,I can't figure out how to operate the dang sound system controls on this thing anyway:think:We injoy just riding and talking.Thats right I said it,I talk to my wife.I had to say that, she's going to read this.:whistling:Anyway, would i like EFI,belt drive, abs and a top of the line boom box? Of course i would.I can only believe that if yamaha wants to compete in the touring bike business, they will come out with a gen3 that will blow away the competion. If not than I can rest easy in knowing there will be a lot of low milage, low cost 2nd gens around for a long time.:thumbsup2:the more we ride our bike the more we love it.So i say, love it or leave it.
  6. shoulda come over our way.Picked up robin from work around 1:30 went down to the windmill to pick up her new chaps, so her delicate legs won't get cold.rode down through watkins glen, then up along seneca lake back to home base.lots of clouds but no rain:whistling:
  7. I installed a philco am radio.came out of my 64 dodge...works great...I can listen to cousin Brucie all the time now.:rotfl:
  8. THAT JUST WRONG!:yikes:
  9. I believe you've got it.
  10. Wally world truely is a scarry place:eek:
  11. I heat with wood pellets, just bought a new John Deere pellet stove(I work for a JD dealer) been heating the house with pellets for 3 years now, cost anywhere from $800.00 to $1200.00 a year,sep-may.in central NY.We also sell corn stoves but corn is harder to get and store.corn will attract vermon.corn stoves do not have auto ignite.pellet stove do.all you have to do to start a pellet stove is push a button.Very easy to clean.Stay away from the stoves in home depot and lowes. They are high maintanence.Has to be shut down and cleaned every day. Some of the high end stove can go for weeks with out much work.
  12. SUPER BIG THANK YOU TO BONGOBOBNY:clap2:  Just got back from Bongobob's...had to stop and check out a german resturant in canandaigua on the way home, very good food...anyway all i can say to the folks here at ventureriders is you guyz are the best.Everyone is always looking out for our fellow riders. It took no more then 5 minutes from the time my post hit the forum that i had Bob on the phone, with a deal made and me and Robin on our way out the door. We're back at home with a new final drive so we can get back on the road. Your right right NYJERRY,this is family:thumbsup: I think a group hug is in order....oh come on you know you want too.
  13. I think I blew out my final drive on my 99rsv.We were out for the weekend, riding around the fingerlakes when after about 150 miles and several hour we made a pit stop. While rolling through the parking lot at slow speed I heard a god awful grinding, clanking, clicking noise coming from the final drive.Luckly since we were riding around the lakes we were only 25 mile from home.So we ended our weekend trip and headed straight home. got home ok,can't hear the noise at highway speed, but if sounds like it's coming apart when i roll the bike back and forth.Put it up on the jack, spun the rear wheel and it sounds really bad. Draned the oil, it was dark gray and smelled burnt. It was just changed out a couple weeks ago,I used mobil 1 gear oil. something has let go inside. But she still got us home.Anyway I'm looking for a new to me final drive, anyone do a trike kit that wants to sell there's.I contacted someone here on the classifieds but no answer yet.Probably out riding
  14. They need the vents, these bikes get hot.maybe not so bad without the lowers.I spent a lot of time checking out the voyager and nomad.they are nice, but not build as well as the venture.to much plastic, not as good fit and finish.
  15. Was someone here bidding on chrome frame covers on EBAY?If you were the winning bidder i guess you needed the alot more then me:crying:
  16. stock mufflers,i went from after market to stock, much quieter.
  17. When I was in Naples Italy back in the 70's we would give the cab drive an extra $5 bucks to get to where we were going FAST,did this just for kicks...I didn't know it was ok to drive on sidewalks!!??:shock3::scared:sure gets the heart pumpin.
  18. OH,almost forgot, check out our calssifieds here, some very nice bikes for sale by folks that know and love there bikes. Some folks selling because thier down on the thier luck right now.You could find a great bike and help someone out at the same time, and you'll know the history of the bike.Good luck finding the right ride.
  19. Me and my wife combined come in around 460lb.I can't tell the difference between 1 up and 2 up when it comes to power.By the time i get into 3rd gear were doing 60mph in only a few seconds. If you check out the pic's gallery here you will see bikes loaded with gear in places you wouldn't expext to see. Also pulling trailers loaded to the gills, with trailer over loaded and two over loaded americans on top.(we like to meet and eat):crackup:What I,m saying is nothing stops this bike from proforming:bowdown:Yes it can be a hand full with all that weight but it only takes practice and a little time to learn how to handle it.Once you get that down it is a blast to ride.
  20. welcome Humbucker, you just opened up a can of worms. But thats ok because your about to embark on a journey that will fully enlighten you to the wonderful world of the "RSV" a world full of opions, facts and fabel.I promise you you will learn more about the "RSV" then you may want to know:confused:  OK with that said,I got my rsv about 3 months ago.the wife and I love it.I sometimes think she more then me. but thats ok.before this bike i owned a vulcan 900,had to beg her to ride with me.now I can't keep her off of it...Should have keep the 900:innocent: But really it's a great bike, some what old school but very smooth and very reliable and lots of HP. injoy the ride:thumbsup2:
