  1. answered my own question. Got to looking at the yamaha website and saw where the aftermarket upright was listed to work on the royal star and the roadstar.
  2. Ok, So I have a venture that I bought sans trunk. My wife reslly needs som kind of back support so I bought an upright from a royal star and mounted it up. It fits like a champ of course, but now I need to know it the mounting pattern of the upright pad from a roadstar will fit the upright of a royal star. I am trying to find a deal on a pad now. I have seen a lot of roadstar upright pads and can get a good deal on those, so I want to use one of them for my upright. Anyone know if the bolt pattern on the back of the pad will allow to be mounted to my upright?
  3. I bought the side rails for a 96 royal star and they fit. I am now thinking that an upright and pad from a road star will fit, or find an upright from an original royal star and it will fit.
  4. Syn 5w40. I have been running it for about 16,000 miles noe. Change my oil about every 4000 miles and it looks almost good as new when it comes out.
  5. I had the same problem with freezing controls and the cb having a life of it's own. Dielectric grease has so far cured the problem.
  6. I for one really like the Kawasaki. Looks like they did some resaerch into what their target market wanted and gave it to them. Like others, if they do not do the Venture right if/when they re-do it, I will be looking at the Kawasaki.
  7. And if you can't or don't wanna spring for a mac........convert to Linux!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Yeah, I hit 455 pretty regularly. One of the benefits to living north east of where I work, Frisco is if I have nothing to get to I shoot up preston and take 455 over to 121 on the way home.
  9. Have been at my daughter's softball tourny in Denison this weekend up by Waterloo park. The whole time I'm there I keep hearing bikes everywhere. If I didn't know better I would think I was in Leaky or something. Is there a good ride road around the park? For those up around that way.
  10. I might have missed it cause some of these explanations made my ears bleed, but do the v-max's have the same jetting?
  11. Not that big of a chore. I didn't bleed mine and it worked fine, probably should have, but oh well. The hardest part was figuring out the best/easiest way to get the pistons pushed back in.
  12. I am interested in the correct way to check the floats as well. And I also noticed that the ohms for the coils that are noted in the shop manual are wrong.
  13. I weas lucky and it had cleared up by the time I left. I did get dumped on over in Greenville on Saturday. As luck would have it, I caught EVERY red light on US 69 while it was REALLY pouring.
  14. I got a "pistol pete" copy leather jacket from them for Christmas 2 years ago. It has been great. Super warm and still looks like a million bucks.
  15. I like the "live long..." wave with the thumb tucked. Distinct and simple. I like the idea of a flag too. That would be good for parking lot checks!
  16. The first thing I thought of was a "V" as well.
  17. could someone post a detailed "how-to" for the "get off my tail" backfire?
  18. Ok, so on my way in to work this evening, I pass a couple of Ventures on the road. Everytime I pass one, I wonder, "Are they a member of VR?" I think we ought to come up with a "secret" wave so we know who is a member as we pass. Then again, I may be smokin crack:rotf:. Any ideas?
  19. Stopped by the Starmotorcycles page today and saw they had the info about the 2009 V-Max up. I don't remember seeing anyone else talk about it on here. I see it has:Type1679cc liquid-cooled 65° V-4, DOHC, 4 valves/cylinder http://www.starmotorcycles.com/assets/common/line.gif Bore x Stroke90.0mm x 66.0mm http://www.starmotorcycles.com/assets/common/line.gif Compression Ratio11.3:1 http://www.starmotorcycles.com/assets/common/line.gif Fuel DeliveryFuel Injection with YCC-T and YCC-I http://www.starmotorcycles.com/assets/common/line.gif IgnitionTCI http://www.starmotorcycles.com/assets/common/line.gif Transmission5-speed, multiplate slipper clutch http://www.starmotorcycles.com/assets/common/line.gif Final DriveShaft. high hopes anyone??????????? The site also has info on the 2009 Vstars....250, 650 and 1100. Nothing on the others as of yet.
  20. I am of the "wanders around in the wind" crowd. I just got a new e3 for the front. I'm gonna see if that as opposed to the original d404 makes a difference. If not, i think I'm gonna go back to the stock size for more stable tracking in the wind.
  21. I highly recommend Ubuntu! I first tried it about a year ago and have made the complete switch. Very stable, secure (sometimes too secure), and easy to use. I am running server with the GUI for my media files and a web server and also have it on my laptop. Lots of free software outthere as well. Synaptic package manager will let you search for any program you need and will download it if you find one you like. Take the plunge, you'll be glad you did!
  22. Sweet! Sounds like my kind of motel!
  23. Been meaning to post about this since the first of last week. I saw him turn onto SH 121 just south of Trenton on my way to work. I was pulling up to teh light just as he was taing off. Anyone? (Northeast Collin County area)
  24. My '99 does it as well. It clatters from the front right head for about 30-45 seconds when I first start her up after sh has been sitting for a while. If I am not mistaken, I read another post a while back about how this is normal due to the front right cyl. being the last to get oil pumped to it.
