  1. Ya better have front wheel drive on that first gen...
  2. Hey Kirby, Dual purpose bikes, for putting around on back roads, wether dirt or blacktop, Totally ROCK... I had a SUZUKI DRZ400 On Interstates it was underpowered... Oh hill climbs/desents it was way to heavy and always found the ruts(couldn't hold a line).... Forget the flat & motorcross tracks as it's not fast enough to keep up and heavy enough to get someone hurt.
  3. Humm... coulda been worse... You could have gotten this cold during your vacation....
  4. A game warden was driving down the road when he came upon a young boy carrying a wild turkey under his arm. He stopped and asked the boy, 'Where did you get that turkey?' The boy replied, 'What turkey?' The game warden said, 'That turkey you're carrying under your arm.' The boy looks down and said, 'Well, lookee here, a turkey done roosted under my arm!' The game warden said, 'Now look, you know turkey season is closed, so whatever you do to that turkey, I'm going to do to you. If you break his leg, I'm gonna break your leg If you break his wing, I'll break your arm. Whatever you do to him, I'll do to you. So, what are you gonna do with him?' The little boy said, 'I guess I'll just kiss his ass and let him go!' May your stuffing be tasty May your turkey plump, May your potatoes and gravy Have never a lump. May your yams be delicious And your pies take the prize, And may your Thanksgiving dinner Stay off your thighs! Happy Thanksgiving!
  5. Was a dreadful day to hunt yesterday. I hunt an extreemely brushy area and the low clouds kept rolling in making it impossible to see. So, I moved to one of my old deer blinds and about 30 minute later, look who showed up. On second thought, it wasn't too dreadfull after all. Happy THanksgiving to you and yours!
  6. Make sure you sure after you clean your grounds, connections and battery posts to use a good anti-oxidant. Available at lowes for $5 in the electrical section... I also use this stuff on bolt threads and they never oxidize/RUST. Stators can easily be tested with a multi tester. Look up in specs and if it's not within a certain range it's bad. Process of Elimination... Are the grounds and connections clean and anti-oxidized, and, "tested good" with a multi meter. Make sure there aren't any open continuity problems. Do Stators "test good", Resistance check... Battery "new" or did you take it someplace to get it load test (advance auto) Regulator/rectifier? Don't know if it's possible to check these but if your reving and its only 12 volts I'd be leary...
  7. Does you floor ever get wet... How bout after it rains? if it does i wouldn't cover with anything till you fix the problem with a french drain, down spout extensions, floating basement floor etc... If it stays dry 100% 0f the time... I'd patch crack then install either a ceramic/porclean tile floor, or, dryloc and install one of those floating imatation wood floors over foam...can't recall the name. As the basement is the lowest place of the house, you can bank on where the waters going to go if you ever get a leak. Also, no need for a dehumidifier "IF" you have a cold air return and a vent at each end of the basement . the forced air heater and air conditioner will take care of that . If not, then your gonna be stuck with a dehumidifier... Wood and carpeting can retain water, hence the chance of mold is pretty good. Just my 2 cents...
  8. Penny and I will be praying for both of you.
  9. Right before I turned 16, my dad told me if I wanted to drive, I needed to buy a vehicle and pay for the insurance. Yup he was a hard ass... I can tell you this, it made me respect my vehicles and not tear them up... and I really appreciated that. So, when i turned 16 I bought a Suzuki T250... a real screamer for its time +110 mph at right around 400 lbs? At about 17 years of age, I bought a Yamaha 175 enduro. Worked at a gas astation about 2 miles away and rode it EVERYDAY... Rain, snow(was fun!) sleet and hail...(well at least one attempt on the sleet. Ended up walking beside the bike more than riding it). Didn't even have a car license until i took the drive around town test at 19. Would I ride on the snow on a 900lb bike? NO WAY!!! I'm smaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarter than that! I like my parts just where they are...
  10. As I don't see any thing I'd necessarily dissagree with you on, And you seeming to be a very logical person, I don't see why your leaving? Heck ... if I remember correctly, even Freebird considered a Victory, and definately a Polaris... I think what this site does for me, is, it OPENS UP OPPERTUNITIES TO RIDE .... thats what it's all about! If you decide to leave though, don't get all stuck up, like some of those Wingnuts and not wave...
  11. I'm for Denver... tired of all those high school quarter back remarks...' Not that the commentators know Jack S***.
  12. pickinfred: need any help getting those deer under control?
  13. " would love to do this....but I would finish LAST....." Actually you'd still finnish ahead of all those that crashed... That was some insane driving...LOL
  14. "there is about a 1 inch bulge in the floor all around the chimney where it looks like the house settled and the chimney did not so the floor got raised up. the ceilings on both the first and second floor are plastered right to the plaster that is on the bricks." My best "guess" and "thats all it is"... Is that it is non structeral. If it were, your entire floor or a large chunk of it would be sloped 1 inch. But like i said its a guess and unless you take a circular saw around the perimeter you really have no way of knowing. Just be careful...
  15. With the high cost of electricty and coal, a lot of people here in WV have turned to burning wood. Very cheap, especially if you have a few acres and a chainsaw.... I really love the smell. Not a valley in WV that you can go into on a cold winter morn and not smell it...LOL Guess it's catch 22 as far as the EPA is concerned though...
  16. Thats good to know ... Acetone and ATF to loosen nuts... Acetone and ground ABS for glue..."Marcarl?" I'll have to try it out, but to be honest, I'm kind of a "right now" guy... Ya know, there isn't rusted nut that I've found, that a cutting tourch couldn't fix.... and That, my friends, requires ZERO torque...LOL
  17. I probably won't do a bucket list. Have been going where I want all my life. This spring its Key West and points south... ARRRRRRRGH! Perhaps some fishing whilst there...Hummmmmmm Need to look up the laws regarding out of state fishing....
  18. Marcarl" Only allowed in the US,,, it's illegal in Canada. Something to do with women's rights I think. " are you bragging or Complaining... LOL
  19. That was a good one... Welp, Gottago. I need a few things at the Dollar store and LOWES... LOL
  20. freebird "Sometimes I HATE my no politics rule. When I read crap here that is just completely untrue from people who have no idea what they are talking about in regards to the healthcare system in the USA. Could it be better? Of course it could. All I will say though...is.... I'm sure glad that I live in the USA. This thread is close to being deleted" I have read and reread everything on this post and nothings struck me as an outlanidish lie. If you were refering to what i said please pm me and i willl make the appropiate arrangements. Health care in the US only exists for the people in upwardly mobile jobs of which i use to be part of. When i retired 3 years ago i was dropped. Now i get to pay $530 a month, which increases yearly, with $5000 deductable.(it was $330 3 years ago.) My wife, lucklily had a 10% heairng loss disability while in the army so she is fully covered. I was in the Air force but don't qualify for the VA. I to " am DAM glad that I live in the USA. " but... the livng part is getting pretty hard to do,... Sorry for being so adament about this subject but it hits too close to home. I use to remark about how wasteful WV PEIA was when it came to purchasing health care for its +60,000 employees. It spent +9000 a year on me. I knew I could do better and in fact did the first year that I retired at 49 years of age. What the insurance companies don't tell you is it goes up every year, double digit inflation(for you age group). Soon I will either be forced to drop it entierly or go back to work, just for the Health insurance coverage. At this point I can truthfully say I have never paid $530 a month for anything, not even a house payment. I believe mine was $450 ish.
  21. Gawildcat... back in 2000 i had a tumor betweeen my coclear and brain stem. Was told if it grew to 5 centimeters that would be it....It was 1.5 at the time. The good folks at House Ear institute in Los Angles Califorinia took it out.. although I had blue cross blue shield at the time. was way over $100,000 Might not hurt to ask about possible treatments there... i sincerely hope everything works out for you and your husband...
  22. Unless the fans are gyroscoplically controlled and counter rotating I don't see it working at all... With it tethered equally at 2 feet and all tethers taunt, I fail to see that it is a controlled flight at all... Put it on Ten foot tethers and hover (changing altitude between 3 and 8 feet) Then maybe I'll take a closer look...
  23. Sooner or later the US will be forced to provide health care for everyone, just as our friends in Canada and England have done. Companies can't be relyed upon to carry the burden as it creates an unfair burden on them when it comes to competing in a world wide market. Everyone needs to pay their fair share, but I'm hoping its not going to create another gov. beauracy... Perhaps we need a 7,7,7,7 plan? with the last 7 going towards health care(fully funded, expanded version of medicare). Even with that, I'd still be paying less in taxes and health care than I do now... I know one thing for certain, If they don't fix the mess soon, theres going to be a lot more people that drop their health insurance because they can't afford it, and then go into the ER's and get the services for free because the Hospitals MUST help you if it is life threatening. At some tipping point all H-ll is going to break loose...
  24. Hals sister and his family, will be in Penny and my thoughts and prayers
