  1. 3-4-5 formula is multiplied by each number. Right? 3x7=21 4x7=28 5x7=35. So measure out one leg 21 ft the other leg 28 ft and it should be 35 ft across to be square? Absolutely! Since my building is 18 x 40 if I use 18-24-30 I can tell which corners are square. I think. Going to wear the numbers off that tape line!! Yes this will work better. To make sure that the width and length area(s) that you are going to mark are perfectly straight... I'd pound in 8 posts and 4 strings to show a square cornered rectangular area (each corner being 90 deg.), he should have done this first. 1. Run a nylon foundation string attached to posts driven in the ground from each outside end of the length, to the other outside end to verify straightness. (add at least 2' on each end to drive posts so they don't get in the way). 2. Measure 40' on the long (length) footer from one end to the other(outside to outside) mark with a level to its vertical position (since he screwed everything else up i really doubt it is exactly 40' long... But...make sure you mark it at exactly 0', 24' and 40'... 3. Take a 2' x 18" metal square and drive a post in outside the footer, perpendicular to the mark you made for the beginning (0') length. then attach a 23' long string to the post, paying attention to which side of the post it should be on) 4. Now take string and hold it over 0' length mark and make a mark. Then measure out 18' from the 0' and make another mark. 5. Your gonna need some help for this one... hold a tape measure at 30', over the 24' length mark and get someone you trust to line the end of the tape with your 18'w mark. If you had two helpers, one could stand one on the outside of width area while the person at the beginning end of the tape measure directed them to move left or right. then drive a post in and attach string and double check. I perfer my posts on the outside of what I'm working on so they don't get in the way. 6. Do the same for the 40' end. 7. Now run a line from one 18' mark to the other 18' mark and you'll have a squared rectangle... (drive in posts and attach string) 8. Then take a picture (you will need this if you intend to sue the guy). Although you cant get blood out of a turnip so in this case unless he's got a lot of posessions, I'd pass and by word of mouth make sure he didn't get work in your area ever again... lawyers are expensive and will not tell you when to leave it alone... you heard the old joke... why does a dog lick its a$$? To get the taste of a lawyer he just bit, out of his mouth... Guess what I'm trying to say is: Don't assume the blocks are runing in a straight line... My head hurts...
  2. The origional bike riding dog ... http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=xdj67XknFrM#t=5
  3. I wouldn't take that if I were you Eck...
  4. Wow! that sounds like a great alternative to triking a bike..."YOU don't have to give up the Lean"! SWEET! Wonder how much?? looks like about $10 k... and allows you to convert back to 2 wheels in minutes... I think they may be on to something here...
  5. Is it just me or does anyone else wonder how a Geco would taste?
  6. They was probably just digging for breakdown information(make, year model) so they could run home and post it on the Harley site... Just kidding. They are people just like us. Mostly good.
  7. Brainfart "2) beg / borrow / rent a trailer.. if you were near Phoenix i'd offer u mine.. offer is good to anyone in the area :-)" YammerDan is already acutely aware that he could borrow mine anytime... He's just a little apprehensive as to what decals I'm going to put on my trailer afterward... Considering all the manure he has thrown about second gens and what not... Paybacks a bIt(H! How bout 1st gen Hauler? ... or .. 1st gen chase trailer?... decisions,decisions,decisions...
  8. If you pause it at the exact moment that you can see the entire tailgate of the pickup, there are clearly two seperate scenes that were joined together (as seen by a line seperating the two), also, at this moment the right half of the cab of the truck completely dissapears)...
  9. You've been duped... If you pause it when the truck goes by, the right half of it dissappears... This video has been "Doctored"...
  10. I've got an enclosed trailer you can use for your bike. Its a 10' L. x 5' W. Vnose with a ramp door, front wheel chock, 4 floor tie down rings and straps, brand new tires, wheels and greased bearings ...( just make sure you load and unload on level ground) As I just about dropped bike the last time I backed it out of the trailer... Gotta warn you though "It's a Second Gen hauler" so.... If you were, say, to haul a 1st Gen in it, it would be the same as riding Bi%$h, right? I'm what, 40 miles away?
  11. Take your tailgate off... you will bend or dent it... and like you said, I don't trust those cables with a thousand lbs of weight either... buy 4' x 8' x 3/4" external plywood. buy a piece of 2" stock and weld up a support that slides into the reciever. measure where 8' would come out from bed and make sure your support goes the entire 4' W of the plywood. It'll look like a "T" from the back... You could even weld some hinges on the tee for ramps but i'd only use on a very shallow angle. I've thought about this for a long time, but the only safe way to get her in the bed is from a loading ramp. These bikes are extreeeemely heavy and can and will hurt you if you make one mistake. Please be careful... My 4 x 4 2500 chevy pickup bed is 35" H. the harbor freight motorcycle table is like 26"? H was considering welding up a mount to connect the sizzor table to my reciever to get it to that height but would still have to move bike from table to bed... not gonna happen...
  12. MasterGuns, Black Owl " Bangladesh and Cambodia." , "Probably Vietnam. That is where they are getting most of the electrical components." Purchasing a high quality stator and seeing if it fixes the problem permanently would be a true test... Although... Saw a guys Yamaha stator burnt out shortly after a long trip he took and found he was about 3/4 of a quart low on oil. From the heat discoloration on the windings of the stator I'm thinking thats what did it in... From what I've been reading the oil conducts the heat away from the stator to the engine case where it can be cooled, much like an electrical transformer on a telephone pole. Don't know if Harleys stator is oil cooled, but if they are, wouldn't it make sense to install an oil cooler? Heat is the enemy!
  13. Just a thought but I wonder where harley stators are being produced?
  14. The Warden and you will be in Penny and my prayers... hopefully it's something simple, perhaps something shes eating or drinkng that is bringing these bouts on...
  15. If your going to "fill the tank up with gas", get high test without ethanol... over the months the octane will degrade... some fill tank up if they are concerned about rust in the tank but unless your using fuel with ethanol or you are storing tank empty in a damp place... I personally run all the gas out of tank till the engine quits with the petcock in the on position(only want to keep the gallon or so that is left in reserve). Buy some engine fogger take all plugs out and spray in all four cylinders while cycling engine. Next, pour in 1/2 can seafoam and 1 ounce of fuel stabilizer, "shake" push bike foward and hit brakes, turn petcock on reserve and turn ignition on until fuel pump turns off, that way your carbs will be devarnishing themselves for a year and seafoam does not hurt the gaskets. Turn petcock OFF. When you get ready to start a year or two from now, drain the carbs using carb bowl drain screws, add five gallons of 87 octane, then turn petcock to ON position. Clean bike and use a good grade wax on bike "not a car wash wax" i don't like to use covers of any kind as they can draw damp. store battery in non freezing, dry place using a known good trickle charger... take weight off tires cork exhaust ends(dont want anything (finding a new home there) You might just save some with proper planning Don't store your bike in a damp garage (will reak havoc on electronics) and make sure you steel wool all little nooks and crannies of you garage so the insects and mice can't get in... Mud dubbers have the duRndest way of finding the air intakes on our bikes....
  16. If Yamaha were to update the venture these are the things I would like to see... Lower center of gravity (top heavy) Run flat tires with solid core "unless tweels are avaliable" ABS brakes "large but tastefull stop lights" on trunk Airbag Retractable windshield going from say 10 to 18 inches... maybe two piece... would definately have to shed water better... Waterproof in dash box with aux jack for ipods/cell phones etc A reverse wouldnt hurt either... Don't want them to start down the road Honda went, with the $1000 per accessory and the 3 different packages that include things that i really don't want or need "like xm radio or a gps system"... kinda nice that the venture comes with floorboards cb/radio etc...
  17. They've been making second gens basically identical (minor mods only seat, colors,cd player etc...) for the past 13 years (1999-2011). Why would anyone in their right mind expect them to change their way now? Ok I give .. Heres a pic of a new 2012 RSV...
  18. be a good neighbor then...put the word out!
  19. Yup anytime someone shows up at your door to do busniess, without you having made the initial contact... it's probably a scam. That paving scam has been going on for years... Now they have this "Pickers/Pawn shop" show on and all the low lifes are comming out of their holes making "picking/pawn shop" offers on your stuff. I tell them to "HIT THE ROAD" They always ask how much "you" want for something even though you didn't ask them to stop by??? Their counter offer is always "pennys on the dollar" as they have to make a profit?? NO THANKS! If anyone is going to make a profit on MY stuff it's going to be ME! I've got 6' tall sandstone millstones if front of my property and you'd be surprised to hear the offers i get for them... the only thing keeping them there is they are extreemely heavy... (over 2000 lbs apiece)
  20. I ain't saying Squatch-OOOOOOOOh about anything, after the beating the Saints took Thursday and the complete beatdown of the Steelers Sunday. Then there's the Cowboys leading 24-10 in third quarter last nite... the Jets came back in the fourth quarter and won it 27-24.... WOW!
  21. Hummingbird, "not meaning to but I thought that a ccw was meant to be used as a self defense tool, not for intimidation." +1 on that... Thats why the First word is "concealed".... Besides, if i saw someone approaching me with a weapon, I'm thinking run them over with my car..."cause I'm in fear for my life". Think about it, who are they gonna believe, me or a crazed motorcycle rider that has blocked the road in front of me and is approaching meanacingly flashing a firearm... Secondly, their main goal is, they want to pass you... If you can, stay about two feet to the right of the center line and slow down motioning them to pass. If you cannot get them to pass, turn on your turn signal and make the next right hand turn. Don't know how many times I've read about a motorcylist being run off of the road by a car after moving to the right side of the road while motioning them by. If they are aggressive enough to ride your 6, do you really think they are going to get into the other lane to pass you?... Let the LEO's handle the idiots.... call the State Police with the license no# and description of vehicle and driver. If everyone reported aggressive drivers "like they should" there would be a lot less of them...
  22. Awwwwwwwwwwwwww now you went and did it... This is gonna get ugly...LOL
  23. This forum has a area called "darksiders" or "people running car tires on their bikes" that you need to check out. It will give you all the pros and cons.
  24. "I'm not stupid enough to support them any more than I do reguardless of what goose claims. Yammer Dan, Thats how i feel also... yet another reason not to get stadium seats as they are outrageous!
