  1. saddlebum, trader "I was thinking of putting the www.venturerider.org on the lower part of my windshield and MAYBE on the trunk box." Lower windshield and trunk would be excellent places for some people. In fact that would be my first choice... Everyones bike is different. It would be impossible for me to put a decal on the lower windshield as it has 3 windshield vents in it. The trunk depending on wether its a 1st or 2nd gen, limits the places you can put it as well, not to mention some have things painted on their fairing, tank and trunk. A well done tasteful pennant I believe would be the best bet. If not, I could always order 3 dome decals and place under the yamaha logo on both sides of my gas tank and one on the trunk centered on the lower half(2nd gen) Ryana7769,"How about we all wear a flashing green light on top of our helmet? that would make it very easy for everyone to recognize! :whistling: " Hummm, that would be easily identifyable but so would this...
  2. Ouccch... That had ta hurt....
  3. Thanks condor , I checked the domed black and chrome ones out and they look good. Especially with my midnight... Squidley, I'd be intersested in seeing yours also... will be looking fo them... Perhaps... Just perhaps, I'm looking at this all wrong... Maybe what we need is an antenna pennant with the venture rider logo. That way you could see it from a distance and not have to designate a spot for it... One could always decide where to put it... the Radio, or, Cb antenna...
  4. Phoneman1981, You did good! You helped a fellow biker in distress. Ruffy, If you can find the key you can have the bike...LOL Besides I have full coverage insurance on her... Go ahead "make me buy a new one"
  5. Squidley, I know there are numerous Venture stickers/decals floating around but I was thinking if we designated spots on the fairing and trunk we could instantly tell if they were part of our group(and what their handle/userid was, if, they placed below the logo). Additionally, if it were a flouresent? color you could see them regardless of what color the bike was "from a distance". If CB-29 was included in the design of the sticker/decal someone riding up on another venture would know thats the channel we use, even outsiders/truckers etc.... You'd be surprised how many of our members either don't know, or, forget while out on the road(happened in Cody more than once). CB-26 is the Yamaha channel and a lot of riders tune to CB-19 the truckers/monitered channel. Let the attacks begin ! Just kidding...LOL
  6. Just a thought but with so many sightings of ventures lately an idea came to me this morning. Would it be possible to design/produce decal(s) for our Organization that could be placed in designated locations on the front fairing and rear trunk that would both advertize to others and identify a current Venture rider? maybe include our CB channel? Under this one could always place their Username? Or has someone already thought of this?
  7. Dunlop elite III's Just wait till this winter when your not riding you bike and take to the dealers, Heck you've got until what...2013 to get it fixed under warranty? thats what I'm going to do... to get the rear shock replaced... Hummm.. Sounds like you'll be using DOHMS Cycle... they are a tad bit expensive but they fix things right the first time...
  8. I'll check it out thanks...
  9. I believe it was V7goose that made a remark about having a spare key a month or so back. went out to garage and I placed one on my bike with a black zip tie. never know when you'll need it...
  10. RSTDdog that part number is for a drive shaft isn't it... I know I'm starting to get punchy also it was extreemely hot to day and i ws under a house fixing water lines... flb_78 exactly, weld the pinion to the coupler if i drilled two 3/8" holes 5/8" from the end of the wornout side of the coupler, I could place coupler over the worn out pinion and weld the holes shut...It would never come off. Was thinking i could line everything back up on the bike tighting everything down and simply push back on the coupler as it would be sliding on the driveshaft and weld. then push aluminum cover over tighten 4 nuts down and I'm done.
  11. heres a sit e taht has one for $521.38 http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/yamaha/Y-5FB-46101-00-00.html
  12. Condor... Im thinking just the 650 Yamahas from 2005-2009 doesnt matter if classic/custom but ill check. flb_78 if thats the part that the wheel goes into... The service manual is calling it a Rear axel Gear case assembly. Personally I'd call it the left hub driveline reciever assembly and the right side the right hub brake assembly... but then what do i know...LOL who know who makes up these names...
  13. Skydoc_17 The pictures you have are of a drive shaft assembly. My drive shaft assembly is fine.... At the end of that drive shaft assembly there is a coupling gear (really more like a two inch tube with internal splines) I need that and: the part the coupling gear connects to(the final drive shaft assenbly) which is not sold seperatly from the Rear axel Gear case assembly(which is the silver 10" hub you put 90 weight oil in) the aluminum triangle piece you have pictured bolts on to the 4 studs on this hub with 4 nuts and washers. I got these names off of the 650 yamahas service manual PDF in the first picture its the first two parts, starting from the left hand side. The middle pic would have shown both the damaged parts if i had turned over coupling gear currently showing the good side..
  14. The guy needs locked up for about 15 years to think about it!... 7 1/2 years for each person... With that being said... " And just before 2 AM a Peoria Police squad car drove onto the site of a three-vehicle accident at the corner of Glen and Sheridan that left a married couple dead." Most cops I know have said that your out after midnight the possibillity that you've been drinking/doing drugs go way up... unless your comming home from second shift etc... so on and so forth... the story even said the woman in the suv in front of the bike was drunk... When the autopsy comes out I'd be surprised if the bikers weren't also drinking. My Point being, I won't ride a bike after 9 pm as that's when all the Idoits that have been sleeping all day come out to Start the whole routine over... I won't ride a bike if I've had more than 2 drinks(although I try to limit myself to ONE)... threes the magic number in most states I am truly Sorry for this couple. They just picked a bad time to ride... and ... had no exit stragity or awarness of who was behind them...
  15. 1. 2000 650 VStar Yamaha Rear axel Gear case assembly. Part no# 5FB-46101-00-00 sorry i incorrectly typed "5FB-36101-00-00"( I fixed above...) 2. coupling gear part no# 22U-46123-00-00 They do not offer the final drive shaft assembly seperately which is the part that is splined on one end has a recessed hole for the spring and which the coupling gear slides on. Believe its because its helical on the other end must match exactly(with lash adjusted) This is also the part that has the splines worn off ...hence my wanting to weld coupling gear on... The drive shaft is in perfect condition... (although a little rusty on the end) Thanks skydoc_17
  16. If i drill two holes in the middle/end of the coupling gear and weld to the splined portion of the final drive shaft assembly it "should" be ok. the 1 " spring goes in the recessed area of the end of the final drive shaft assembly between the drive shaft and in the middle of the coupling gear... so, it should still move as planned as the Rear axel Gear case assembly is bolted drectly to the frame and cannot move at all. Thats my thoughts anyway, it's there to allow movement in the swing arm. It however, may, transfer the movement of the (coupling gear from sliding on the final drive shaft assembly) to the (coupling gear sliding on the drive shaft). What do you thinK? Appreciate and value your thoughts...
  17. Yup...You guessed it... The 650 VStar and RSV have a lot more in common than the gas caps.... Although not the same part number, they do not sell the final drive shaft assembly seperatly(as it must mesh exactly with its counterpart in the hub). They do sell the coupling gear for 18.29. So I Need a 650 Yamaha Rear axel Gear case assembly. Part no# 5FB-46101-00-00 or 5FB-46101-01-00 The splines are completely gone, they were rusty, as no grease was ever put on them.... So word of warning... all you RSV and 650 owners need to pull the driveline and grease the splines on the coupling gear. This drive assembly for the 650 is over $500 new... In the meantine, I'm going to mig weld the coupling gear to the final drive shaft assembly on the inside. this will not allow it to be dissassembled, but you cannot buy the parts seperately anyway.
  18. Take the wheel off an look at both sides very closely. They should be uniform where the tire meets the rim. If it's like a second gen, there is a lip on the inside of the rim about 3/4" from outside of rim, that the tire can hang up on...
  19. On the roof... Or in Yammer Dans case on the concrete...
  20. My helmet doesnt allow me to wear sunglasses because of the snug fit(pinches my ears after an hour or so of riding) Going to put silver sun tint on entire face shield with a 1 1/2" strip of medium dark across the top of the shield. I mostly ride with my shield up and figure the silver film should help with reflecting the sun but still allow me to see in low light conditions when down.
  21. A step in the right direction? Yes! Next step would be to kick the severly obese and alcoholics Off of Social Security Disability... and anyone else for that fact, that isn't "physically" disabled.
  22. YUP rode the venture back...
  23. Thanks Squidley, you the man!
  24. This put a smile on my face... I can relate to it as my trip out west to Cody,Wy went to **** on the way back. long story short... my truck and motorcycle trailer are still in Minonk Illinois..." with a blown head gasket" Can anyone else besides me hear banjo music??? Squeal !!!
  25. Debbie was "Good to Go" on the two days I rode with her and Tom. She's to be commended for all shes gone thru. She set a good example for all of us to follow when faced with adversity. I'd have to say, when we were at the top of Bear Tooth, that she probably gave Tom a Geeat Big Hug ! Ride on!
