Remember who we are not what others want us to be!
BuddyRich replied to Bubber's topic in Watering Hole
This has been modified many times. First time I saw it was US Marine from Desert Storm. That's what happens when you tempt Him... -
I had to do something to mine and I forgot what it was. It seemed to be pushing me forward. I think I would up changing the way the rest mounted to the arm. Once I did that it was fine.Seems like it wasn't more than a half inch but it made a big difference.

Oil Level Puzzler????
BuddyRich replied to Bobby G's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Did you just want to change the oil (which you did) or are wanting to flush the engine of every last drop? There's not that much left, if you got 3.5 quarts in it, to affect the new oil. -
Been there. Won't be the last time either I figure. Every couple of years ya gotta work hard...

That thing would hurt me....

I would expect white led flashers or white strobes would be best for color blind.

I have used a whole can with no problems. Also if its been that long you can let it suck pure seafoam in thru the fuel hose till it starts running real crappy. shut it down and let it sit overnight. Start it up the next day using the choke and throttle to keep it running . It will run an smoke real bad for a few minutes till it burns all the seafoam up but then it should be clean.

I am going back to a MT just as fast as I can. I installed a Nexen a couple of weeks ago. The first thing I noticed is the bike seemed very light to push. It was great on the tar snakes too, could not even feel a tar snake in the rear. But that's about the only good things I could say. I lost all confidence in control ability. at 70 or higher I got the wiggle, which feels very similar to being in the draft of a big rig. On a 90 degree curve at some point in the curve the bike would want to turn even deeper/sharper and I would have to correct for that.I assuming that's the sharper edge on the CT causing that. BUT the biggest factor is the CT wanting to follow even the smallest depression or rise in the road to the point that the bike feels like its constantly wandering over the road. I have this strange desire for the feeling of complete control on the bike with no surprises so its back to a MT for me.

Repacking steering and swingarm bearings
BuddyRich replied to aspen60's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The swing arm bearings are a real pain. You have to take the swing arm off according to the manual. Which I did. I seem to remember it being a several hour job. They were in good shape once I got to them though. -
Is the cap on the unit ? I don't see how it would get water in it unless it was totally submerged to the point where the breather cap was under water. Would take to the dealer to have it fixed for sure.

There maybe a short commercial in the front but its a good video. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydWhRObVxrM]YouTube- Billy Ray Cyrus - Some Gave All[/ame]

Also keep a bottle of water handy while riding. Hillbilly AC works real good. Open bottle at 60 and spray on shirt.......

Position of the petcock has no bearing on whether or not the low fuel light works. There's no wiring going to the petcock. You have a problem somewhere else..

Dan, That's the Evaporator. You can probably cross reference a replacement

Had to let mine sit in the hot texas sun for a couple of hours. It was right at 100psi when the bead finally set after what seemed like the 20th time of trying. I used a Nexen though. I was using the ky lube somebody had mentioned on one of the other threads here. I have a slight wiggle above 80. The radial lets the bike roll much easier. It seems very light if I push it anywhere now. Only notice the tar snakes in a turn on the front now. But the bike does want to wander on road grooves more. Still getting use to it but I may stay with the CT.

The Licking River rises in the Cumberland Plateau of eastern Kentucky, in southeastern Magoffin County. It flows northwest in a highly meandering course past Salyersville and West Liberty. In Rowan County in the Daniel Boone National Forest it is impounded to form the large Cave Run Lake reservoir. Northwest of the reservoir it receives Fleming Creek approximately 8 mi (13 km) northwest of Carlisle and flows across the Bluegrass region of northern Kentucky. It receives the North Fork from the east approximately 10 mi (16 km) northwest of Mount Olivet and the South Fork from the south at Falmouth. It joins the Ohio opposite Cincinnati, Ohio, where it separates the cities of Covington and Newport. The river was used as the south-western border of the original Mason County and is the southwest border of Fleming and Rowan counties today. I ain't seen water run uphill yet.

Also, behind the battery cover on the left side is the speedo hookup. Check to see that its still plugged in if the only thing that is not working on the instrument cluster is the needle.
