  1. Automobile or Bike. Once you step out of your house and insert that key you are engaging in a very dangerous activity. One that some treat lightly and others take very seriously. Treat it as a matter of life and death no matter what vehicle your in/on. Try to never let your guard down because even with it, crap still happens.
  2. Take the bike to a automotive paint supplier and have them color match it using their little machine. You'll have to buy a pint but then you have some for touch up of rock chips and such. I did it for the same reason and painted my own spoiler. Quick search found this. http://www.dscolorsupply.com
  3. Your lugging your engine if you shifting that early. 4th at 70 is a sweet spot. Bike is smooth and still pllenty of throttle left to get outta the way. Try it. You can take 4th and just about bury the speedo with it. file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/Buddy/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.png
  4. Drop to 3rd at 65 and wind it out to 80. Then you'll be able to tell the difference. Hit 4th at 80 and take it to ?.
  5. 80. But that's the corrected speed with the speedohealer. Which on a stock RSV would be around 86.
  6. I never needed a law to move over to the other lane when any vehicle is stopped next to the road. Never know why they are pulled over and what may happen as you get close so its always best to get in the other lane.
  7. Tom, The weather feature includes the traffic alert feature on mine.Around most major cities you'll see the slowdowns due to accidents,TMC, and construction. Well worth the extra info especially if you take it in the truck with you. In which case you would probably want to Velcro mount it so you can take the xm with the Zumo
  8. I would probably try which ever is easiest first but would try both. I remember Jude's having a problem with the J&M at the helmet connection. Don't remember how I fixed it but slapping the helmet a couple of times showed where it was. You shoulda seen the look on her face the first time I did it. I duck pretty fast......
  9. Don, one thing I have learned in this business is that its constant change. Its also a constant battle to keep up and to keep the bad guys out. No matter what you do some will like it and others will hate it. Get what ever is easiest for you to maintain. In the last 20 years I never had a user toss his PC in the trash and tell me he's goin back to a typewriter, pencils and paper. I
  10. Just don't let the saran wrap get sucked into the air filter. It makes the bike run funny I was cutting them too small at first. And what I use is computer packing foam.
  11. What ever works I guess. But here's a link to the way I put them on. Click here for PDF
  12. All my sets cracked. Used them till they were wore out if I remember right. Don't think I ever used the warranty on any of them. Cracks just didn't seem big enough to worry about at the time
  13. Try spraying carb cleaner at the cracks. If the engine doesn't change then its not all the way thru. Which I doubt cause I'm pretty sure there's a metal sleeve inside the rubber.
  14. A pdf to help with the install.
  15. Thanks Dale, got it. I'm in CA this week for work. I'll get them out to you when I return.
  16. Not much around here, We have a couple fat little dogs now....
  17. Like the way this thread is going so maybe we'll let it run a little longer.. :rotf:
  18. Hey Jack... Your thinkin early/mid 80's .
  19. That's probably closer to the truth than anything. It was not unusual for La Quinta to sell contractors rooms for weeks, or even months at a time. From the small innkeeper's prospective its better to get several weeks sold now than to rely on return visits once a year for just one weekend. Good relations, no, but then he's not a national chain so its just the owner making those decisions .
  20. By his own words. He was watching the news crew and not the road.
  21. I worked for La Quinta for 7 years and what the major hotel chains do in a case such as this is called "walk the customers" They make arraignments at another hotel for that night for the same rate you paid. That way you have a room and they did not breach. But the Oberlin is not a major chain so there's no telling what may happen.Since your getting different stories, I would pull my resv and put it somewhere that I knew I would have a bed for the night. But like I said, that's what I would do.
  22. Hey Jack, You need another first gen ?
  23. Thanks Guys, They work real good. Had mine off for a while and then realized just how much wind was going thru there. Gary, It was great meeting you and Mary. Wish I more time yesterday. Have a safe trip home and I look forward to riding with ya'll next time your down.
  24. You can take 3rd to 85 and 2nd to 55 so yep, your luggin it. Don't get into 5th before 75. These V4's need RPMS
  25. Don, Every Venom I have had got small cracks in them. Rode them till they were bald almost.Never had a problem with them. I'll stick with them since I have tried almost everything out there and keep coming back to the Avon's. Glad you got a few miles in.
