Started polishing the front wheel tonight. I think about 5 hours and 20 bucks will get it as close to chrome as it can be without the chrome cost. Lower part was done in about 30 minutes Used a course steelwool then a fine and finally the Diamond Brite Truck box polish from Lowes. You can see the results in the pics. I did not do the painted part and probably won't as you can hardly see it with the hub cap on.

Improving Lines of the Saddlebag Guard Rails
BuddyRich replied to Freebird's topic in Body, Plastic, Paint and Seats
Yep, That's one of those good ideas. -
When the Low Fuel lights the first time it trips the F reading on the odo. This will begin adding up miles while displaying the F to show you how many miles you have gone on reserve. This is suppose to be around the 1 gallon left mark. I always start to loose power if I don't switch to reserve in about 7 miles from the first time the Low Fuel light come on. It automatically resets after so many miles of the low fuel being off.

Mine usually only takes 4 if I get fuel right when The F kicks in.

I'm on the road and on battery on this laptop. If you guys have not figured it out by the time I get home tonight I'll see what I can do. I do know that the Weather does not work yet and Gamin said they are sill writing the software for it so it may be the same for the route transfer

I paid 115 for the kit and got the tool off ebay for 17. Added a few more shims at 5 apiece so probably got about 150 in it. Theres two sets of kits so I went with the sizes I saw on Steve's when we did it.

Mine came black. I suspect its just black hi temp paint

Last summer I bought a Shim kit with about 32 shims and the special tool needed to change shims. I'll be done with it this week. Anybody wanting to use it can, if they will pay shipping to and from my place. If you have to buy shims please add your old ones to the kit so we can all benefit from its use. Just PM me with your address and when you would want it and we can go from there.

I believe its between 35 an 40 amp system. The PIAA bulb is not going to make any difference. Its not really a nightmare but you do need something to monitor it. If its really cold then shut down the passing lamps, switch to bright on the main headlamp and you should be fine. But I would check that there is not something going on with the battery.

I noticed you did a post on heated clothing. Are you running heated clothing and passing lamps at the same time? These bikes are great machines but are known for having a limited charging capacity. I have a gerbings vest and 3 headlights at 55 watts each. If I run my heated vest all the way up and the headlights on bright I start draining the battery. I use a Kurakyn led volt meter to show whether I charging or discharging while riding and using all my electrical goodies.

I have the Zumo 550. Yes. You can just put in an address and it will take you there. Its a great GPS. The blutooth works great with my phone also.

Passing Lamp Spacer Update

I have an 05 and the rubber bumpers. They both have cracked and I had to weld one, the other is about to go. Think they need to redesign this still.- 57 replies

Have you got some pics to show us. How many wires and is the contoller built into the seat or external. Is it an on off or a dial type controller?

I think the motorcycles is possibly for 2 reasons. Very narrow road, and the camber on the turns. On a sharp left turn your gonna be leaning into oncoming traffic and no place to go.
-
Yes. But on the RSV you have to leave the key on acc so thecircuit is hot. You should not be charging at more than a couple of amps anyway and the fuse is 5 amps.

Don't know. Have you tried to copy the files by using my computer. Napster has a nasty habit of marking the content as protected. So you may have to burn it like your burning a cd. You may need to call napster support. They have spent a lot of time trying to be sure you cannot copy the music. What I had bought from napster a year or more ago was coming in as Windows Media files. Which the Zumo can't handle.

Hey Al, A little better price here. Only a couple of bucks for shipping. http://www.sparkplugs.com/results_cross.asp?pid=DPR8EIX-9&x=32&y=13

Steve. the zumo nor the gxm30 have a modulator built in. Both the bike and auto mounts have the audio out so you could pick up one of those fm modulators that plug into the Cig lighter if you needed that.

There are converters out there. I think Winamp pro does it. It will give you the option so select mp3 at 128kb bit rate. 128kb bit rate is CD quality. going higher just uses up storage. I put 500 songs on a 2gb xd card. Gotta have more cards for the other 13000 songs I got.

I just got mine and I'm trying to figure it out. Some of these guys have put their xm antenna's under front fairing and claim that it works good there. Right now I'm using it in the car. This is Zumo and XM with navtraffic is the best thing I have bought in a while. I have taken some pics and as soon as I get time I am going to write a review of it and post it here. I am going to see if I can make an adapter so the mics on our helmets will work with the bluetooth phones also.
