Its a new 2012. The Dealer in hollister had a red and a blue at a great price since it was last years model. It was the right time, right color and the right price. I'm still getting use to how well it handles but I Love the way it rides so far. Added the Highway pegs and trunk rack last night and waiting for the cb and some more shinny stuff to come in.

The wife finally said we were old enough to drive a Goldwing! I've wanted one for the past 10 years but every time I mentioned it she would say " We are not old enough yet". It Surprised me when she said that this year she thinks we finally are! Anyway, its going to be bittersweet to sell our Blue Venture. It has taken us on 42000 miles worth of some fantastic tours including two from California to Canada where we met many of the great people on this list. In total we have traveled over 100k on a two Ventures and a Tour Deluxe and now we are hoping to do the same on this Goldwing. So far we have 500 miles on the clock of the goldwing . I havent posted for a while but have been sneaking in now and again to see that all is well with the Venture riders. I Got a salvage intercom harness from a venture, took the waterproof 5 pin female and added the two mini plugs the zumo requires. Works fine with my standard 5 pin headset now as a stand alone system. I can make calls and listen to the mp3 but cant use it when i have a passenger since its not hooked into the venture system. I guess you never know if you are getting what you pay for until you have a claim. Progressive was great when I had an accident so I dont even shop around for rates anymore. That piece of mind is worth whatever i suppose.

Agree with the mojo blocks and bar. Ive also adapted the clamps with a 2" angle bar to raise them high enough not to have to remove the rotor anymore. After all the adaptation and additional tools bought I think I would have just got this if it was available when i boought the hf changer. http://www.cyclehilltirechanger.com/

My first experience with ABS braking is on the Bergman 650 I just aquired. I think I will become an avocate for abs on bikes now. I tested it with a panic stop from about 80mph and its stops damn fast and straight! I could feel the rear brake lever chattering but not the front. I doubt I can squeeze the front hard enough to lock up unless im in a true panic sitituation or on a wet road. I wonder now if I had had abs on the venture when we crashed if I could have stopped in time since once i knew the crash was going to happen I locked up and left 20 feet of skid marks. Once the brakes were locked I remember the bike felt like it was on a greased track as it seemed to accelerate right into the car.

Well nowhere in the reading did I find the price of that fancy air conditoner, only a rebate form for 20% off if and when they ever make it. You know what they say about asking for the price...

Its interesting but as many times as I have got off my bike with my heated vest cord still attatched I think I would be puffing up a lot in the inflatable vest. I can see it helping a lot in a bar fight though. Just keep your helmet on and pull the cord!

I met a fellow that had one of these and just came from the desert at 115deg. He said it worked just fine. Knowing how well my heated vest works in the cold I tend to believe this vest may just work. At least you could have a place to keep your beer cold! http://www.veskimo.com/servlet/StoreFront

After a t-bone accident with a car that pull out on me and my wife I have ran the scenario over and over in my head just to come to the conclusion that you need to recognize it before it happens. After the accident was in motion there was seconds to think and react by slamming on the brakes ( although it was happening in slow motion). Once this accident was inevitable we were just along for the ride and I think it was just a matter of luck how bad we were going to be hurt. I dont think the gold wing bag would have helped since the forward motion of the car took my front wheel to the left and we were launched off the right of the bike. If there was a bit more time the bike may have laid down because the rear was locked (and probably the front too) but it would have not been a conscious decision on my part to do that. I hope this never happens again but I can sure recognize this scenario that caused the accident and when I see it again I slow down to a snails pace. Now some yahoo will probably rear end us !

Thats why there are scrape strips on the bottom of your boards. When I only run 10 lbs of air in the shock I tend to scrape the boards often in the twisties. At 40- 50 lbs I never do. Don't worry about the scrape,( on clean dry pavement that is) the bike is just telling you thats about as far as you want to lean!

Well I got one of those 1/8" mono to stereo adapters at radio shack and tried my jm cb harness to the zumo again.. I could hear my wife just fine through my headset but she couldnt hear me at all. It must be something about the push to talk button on the harness or perhaps the mike on my 5 pin chatterbox headseat is of the wrong kind. I still have the option of wiring a mic jac directly into the adapter i made. Perhaps that is next.

The zumo just has two female jacks on the side. Big one is for earphones and the small is for mic. I bought this setup to use a handheld cb radio on my wifes bike and tried it on the zumo. http://www.sierra-mc.com/proddetail.asp?prod=JM%2DRHD%2D20 The problem is that it only has a mono audio plug and the zumo uses a stereo plug so it was hard for her to hear. I understand there is a simple adapter to make the mono plug into stereo so that will be my next step in trying this out. The other problem is its $65 bucks! Anyway, it works great for what i bought it for... so she can talk to me on the venture with the radio shack cb on hers.
