NHTSA Requests Feedback on Amber Turn Signals
Squidley replied to Owen's topic in Safety and Education
Dont get me wrong, I'm not harping on any of you, I knew about color blindness, but seeing I dont have it, I dont really think about it. I can see how color blind folks would have a hard time with differentiating with this problem. Obviously you know the position of the lights on a stop light, and that works well for you. I have seen some new LED lights that have the amber for turning and the red for running and stopping. I like the idea of having as much light on the back of the bike as I can get. This may be a good option for those that want the best of both worlds and to make it easier for the others that are colorblind to see -
Heated passenger grips
Squidley replied to timgray's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The link listed above is a 12 volt glove, you would run a fused wire (That is supplied with the kit) from the battery. When you get on to ride you plug the heated article into the plug pigtail and it runs off the bikes charging system. -
Thanks for the update Gary, as always we wish you and your family nothing but the best on your recoveries.

NHTSA Requests Feedback on Amber Turn Signals
Squidley replied to Owen's topic in Safety and Education
Thats an interesting perspective Earl, and to be quite honest, one I never knew anything about I could see where this could be trouble for folks with this disorder. I guess what comes to my mind 1st is, and mind you I'm not attempting to be a smartass, how do you get a divers license if you can't differentiate the color red? Also too, if 3 in 10 males suffer from this, why isn't there more of a push for cars and trucks to have amber signals. Not preaching, just kinda talking out loud. -
Patrick, If you haven't put it in the classifieds that would be a good start. Very decent of you to think of the others here and I know there are a few folks right in my mind as I type this that could use a decent 1st gen for a reasonable price

NHTSA Requests Feedback on Amber Turn Signals
Squidley replied to Owen's topic in Safety and Education
FWIW.... I dont know that I believe all that they are saying there. A rearend collision is due to the 2nd vehicle not paying attention or being in a hurry. I can't believe that an amber turn signal will make that driver anymore attentive to whats going on. Myself I do like the red stop/turn/run light in the signals, it's more light and for me thats a good thing. It's just like a modulating headlight, some folks like them, some folks dont -
I feel for you fellas, 40+ years up in that crap! I like where were at now

Thats a good idea with the PCW kit, I have installed 8 of them thus far and they work great. Glad that the boys at your dealer are hooking you up, we did Toms (He did the surgery, I watched him) and he was very happy with the results. If you have any problems or questions my # is in my profile

Herb, Make sure that they replace the spring plate in there, thats what is causing the slipping. I find it extremely hard to believe that the discs were worn down. Not saying it isn't so, but I have done at least 8 clutch upgrades and the friction discs on every bike were the stock thickness. Another mention here too is that they clean the steels in between the frictions discs good as when they got heated up it put a glaze on them. This is of course if they dont put new steels in as part of the warranty job. Glad they are taking care of you, but know what they are going to do

It's pretty humorous when you start to think about how many of the bikes on this website have gone through multiple members hands one to another

My sentiments exactly, I have wanted to go to Austrailia since I was 7 or 8 years old. It's my #1 spot to visit before I leave this planet. I hope that someday Lonna and I can make that happen.
