  1. Frank, You'll get a lot of different responces here, I have run all the major brands besides the Dunlop E3's (but have heard great things about them) The Michelin Commander is a good tire, I used them on one of my '99's and then again on an '86. The ones on my G2 worked well for me and lasted a decent amount of time. I have also run the Avon Venom X's on several of my Ventures and love them, they are great in the curves and lasted a decent amount of miles. The Metzler 880's are an accident waiting to happen, MANY of our members here have had the tire come apart on them, I know 4 people here personally that I ride with had this happen. I would absolutely stay away from them. If you can get a good price on the Michelins, go for it.
  2. I was just noticing what other have mentioned, you can't use the RSV's housings as there are items on the RSV that aren't on yours. Right handle has the emergency flashers on the RSV and yours doesn't, also you probably dont have the PTT button for the intercom. You might just have to break down and have yours chromed BTW...Nice Looking Scoot
  3. Jack, He has a '98 TD and what I think he's talking about is the handlebar control switch covers, if I'm wrong I'm sure I'll be corrected
  4. Dave, What exactly are you looking for, a royal star patch, a venturerider patch some of the rally patches? Say the word and we can get them across the pond
  5. Thats why this website exsists, Ron definitely sorry to hear about this. I would absolutely pursue it further with the dealers owner, Yamaha and then the better business bureau.
  6. 'cept maybe Dat
  7. It's not worth what they are asking, you can buy a used '08 RSV for about the 12k mark right now. The RSTD is a nice bike, but without all the bells and whistles the RSV has I wouldn't give much more than $10500
  8. Great news my friend, were still wishing for a complete recovery...betcha she glad to be home too
  9. Paul, Not that it really matters, but are you using a battery tender? FWIW I have NEVER disconnected the battery when I have had it on a trickle charge. I have never heard of anyone burning up electronics trickle charging a battery.
  10. Just rambling here, but it sounds like perhaps the main computer is having an issue if you have replaced the battery and alternator
  11. More than likely patentened John, I agree too, my '08 RSV had the chrome covers as it was an "S" model with the chrome forks also. It would be a nice upgrade, might be surprised perhaps they aren't an arm and a leg.....yeah right
  12. Yes...yes it's true, just ask Lonna...she'll tell you
  13. It's something like that, what I believe he does is swaps out the gears from 1 pig to another. He sells the vmax guys taller gears so they have more highway driveablity and the shorter gears to us for better pulling performance. I dont know that he actually machines the individual pigs as thats not really cost effective for him. Remember this is just my thinking, which sometimes has been pointed out to be flawed
  14. John, The only chrome controls I know of came factory with the Midnight RSV's and the newer "S" models. You might have to buy them from the factory or find a crashed bike on ebay that is selling the housings
  15. No it doesn't, I was actually going to change the ring and pinion out into the G2 casing. You'd have to do the same thing with the V max as it doesn't have that hole either. That or have the other rearends machined and you need to remove the gears for that anyhow
  16. It will give you more useable power out of the hole. This is nice when your fully loaded and pulling a trailer. This V4 doesn't make it's power till over 3K and then it really goes like hell, it's a bit of a dog right out of the gate till the r's are up to speed.
  17. I can do that, I wasn't aware that it wasn't in there. What I'll do 1st is absolutely confirm that it indeed will work. I just recently hear of it myself and the pig is identical (Visually) to 1st and 2nd gens.
  18. Carl, Dont you sell that stuff at your site Thunder valley? http://www.thundervalleypower.com/store/
  19. Mike, Look for rearend on ebay, also look for the FJR1300 rearend as it is the same gearing as the Vmax. I picked one up on ebay for $80 shipped to the house, I was going to put it in the '89 but now will install it in my '99 I just recieved. There was a banner up top for a swap through a place in West Virginia I believe.
  20. If I'm not mistaken, Larry Skeels (Carbon One) has a TriWing kit on his '05 and did it all himself. You might want to get in contact with him and chat a bit about it. He's a wealth of knowledge and is more than happy to help any and all here
  21. Good on both of you 2, I'm sure she will bring lots of joy into your lives
  22. Looks good there, I know Ponch installed his on the Wagner grill he has on his '04 and it looks real good there too
  23. Now look what you did Carl, Lewis is all wound up!!
  24. Yeah....what he said, and I was merely a Texan born in Michigan, yeah...thats the ticket
