  1. I'm thinking that Vogel is the destination that she has in mind. I'll send you a PM when I get back in Steve. I'm thinking a radiatior grill is in order for a nice Christmas present...
  2. http://picturesI would like to take a moment to thank EVERYONE that had anything, in any way, to do with the International Rally and the raffling of the trailer. It is an honor to be this year's recipiant of the grand prize. I got the trailer home from Des Moines IA late Wednesday night and finally got to take some pictures of it yesterday. (I will post them after lunch.) I can not say enough about the people at Thomas Bus Sales in Des Moines. They were wonderful to deal with and very professional in thier actions. I got to pick out the trailer I wanted and they had it prepped and loaded in 15 minutes. We were back on the road headed to Ky in less than 30 minutes total. I am looking forward to loading it up and heading out to the mountains when I return from work in late Sept. The Warden has already picked us out a location to go down in the Smokies... :dancefool: Again, Thank You to everyone that made this possible,, And ECK,, sorry about your luck man..LOL
  3. Has anyone made, or had made, a license plate that has the motto "Life's a Venture" written on it. I want to get one to put on the rear of my newly aquired trailer that I am now the proud owner of. There is a large void on the lower part of the rear of the trailer, I am planning to put the "Life's a Venture" license plate on the trailer with the " ventureriders.org" over the top of it. I am open to suggestions for a design for one if anyne is interested in helping. I really think the raised decal that Freebird has produced would look good in a license plate form, but I want to get the approval of the "Boss" before I go using that. I believe that we should stay with one standard for the advertisement of this group. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks
  4. Thanks Squidley. There is really no reason to make things "go south' over a news item. If a person has that much anger in them, please get some help for it. I have found everyone on this site to be loving, caring people and there is really not a legitimate reason to upset anyone... Just my modest, unsolicited opinion.
  5. Peg, Do not allow the opinions of a few that cannot control thier fingers to stop you from posting. I didn't get to see the post, but if you were reporting news, and someone decided to be ugly about it, they are at fault, not you. Please continue to be the loving Yama Mama that we all love and enjoy abusing...
  6. Dano.. I did that while my wife was on with me. I wasn't scared until she started climbing up on my back... :whistling:
  7. Ok... What kind is it and what should a man(or woman) pay for it???? :mo money:
  8. Check the KILL switch on the handlebar... :whistling: :whistling: You may want to know,, but I aint telling...... :no-no-no:
  9. Leave it to Don to show up at the Rally with a blow-up doll......... :stirthepot: :stirthepot: :stirthepot: :whistling: :whistling:
  10. Thank ye, thank ye, thank ye... I really can't believe it. I have never won anything in a raffle, but I will take it and I WILL use it.(Much to the dismay of the Warden).(She doesn't like camping). I'm really sorry that I couldn't make it to the Rally, but God had other plans for me this week so I cant really say that it was a bad decision. I do wish I could get it before Vogel though..LOL Thanks to everyone that helped with the Rally this year. Maybe it will be in the cards for me to make it next year. And Eck,, I'm so sorry that you couldn't win it, but I really think it went to the best person... :rotfl: :stirthepot:
  11. I have worked for companies that used the Mobil Delvac oil in their deisel engines with good results. I really believe the most important thing is a regular maintainance program regardless of which oil you use. Now that the "Black Beast" is out of warranty I am going to switch to deisel oil. Probably Rotella because it is readily available in this area.
  12. At 2:10 on July 30th 2009 the Lord blessed us with a 7lb, 15oz grandson named Austin Bradley.  Both mama and baby are doing fine, but I don't think we will ever get that grin off of the proud papa's face. Not to mention both sets of grandparents... :rotfl: I promise to take pics today and will post them later. Now for the bad news. Since the Warden has STILL NOT been able to return to work since the surgery on her foot, this was 9 weeks ago, I will not be able to make it to The Hub this weekend. HOWEVER, I WILL make it to Vogel for those that are sorely disappointed that I wont show up at the International Rally . I was really looking forward to finally getting to meet some of the people that I see on here. Oh well, maybe next year. For everyone that is traveling this week, my prayers are that all of your travels will be done safely.
  13. Naptha is a petroleum distilate that has a very low flash point.(It is NOT a generic name for petroleum distilate) Hence it is used in lighter fluids and camp stove fuels. It can be used in your motorcycle fuel, but it will lower the flash point making the fule burn off faster. Deisel fuel and Kerosene are both fuel OILS and have similar properties and similar flash points. (115 to 125 degrees F.) While they both can be run in a deisel engine, I would not use either one in a typical gasoline engine. These as well as mineral spirits can be used as parts cleaners. (they will burn, but not as likely to explode.) If you feel that Sea Foam is getting too expensive try switching to another type of carb cleaner. I have used Gumout for several years with great results. STP also makes a good one. It is important to use these as needed. If you store your ride through the winter then use some Sta-Bil in the fuel before storing. When you first get it out in the spring, drain the tank and add fresh gas with a cleaner in it. The main thing is to not let your ride get so gummed up that it needs a deep cleaning. Just my totally unsolicited opinion. It and 2 bucks will get you coffee...
  14. Hey now!!! Get off my Neil Diamond playing tape deck... :rotfl:
  15. From Vogel, it's not too awful far up to the Blue Ridge Parkway... Hmmmmm,,, It does lead to home... Sorta :whistling:
  16. Cindy. Please put my name in the pot (pun intended) for the Wednesday night dinner. If it turns out that I cannot make the meet, I will send the Hub the money for my dinner... By the way, how much is dinner???? :confused24: Thank you so much for all of the work you are doing to make this a success. You are really a trooper.
  17. Stupid question here, but was your cooling fan working properly? The coolant stops circulating, and gets the hottest, when you first shut off your engine, hence the "boil over". That is when your fan should run, if only for a minute.
  18. It is kind of unusual for the wheel bearings to go out on that low mileage. I have 60K miles on my bike and they weren't showing any sign of wear. Also, I would question the bearings being a "wear and tear" item. If necessary, contact Yahama about that one. If they want to charge you for it, you can pick up the bearings at a parts store or bearing supplier and change them out yourself. It's a very simple procedeure.
  19. Go BLACK and you will never go back... unless it's to look for the slower, other colors. :stirthepot:
  20. I do CHECK my bearings once a year and before a trip. But I don't see the need to repack them every year. If the seal doesn't blow out or the wheels get submerged in water, there really isn't a need for it. Bearing Buddies were designed for boat trailers that submerge thier wheels when they are hot. Without Bearing Buddies the hub will suck water in through the seal when it hits the cooler water. Bearing buddies are spring loaded to allow the grease to expand and contract without sucking water into the hub. As with anything, the most important thing is to keep a good regular maintance program. It is better to prevent than to have to repair on the road. I'll get off my soapbox now... :whistling:
  21. Wayne Most of those bearing hubs come in 2 or 3 different sizes, but they are pretty much standard sizes. You may have to take the bearing cap off, and take it to the supply store with you, to get the right one. The question I have is, why do you want to use Bearing Buddies? You aren't going to be submerging the wheels in water, so it's not likely to pull enough water into the bearing housing to ruin the grease. Just repack the bearings every 5 to 7 years. Just my 2 cents worth. :mo money:
  22. Wayne, Not to give you a short answer, but NO. The RSV will not carry an extra 4 amps. We are doing well to get by with the minor accessories that we now carry. Just my 2 cents worth, :mo money:
  23. I am hoping he will be born between next Monday (When I get off work) and the 2nd of August. But you know how these kids LOVE to mess up the best laid plans...LOL
  24. As much as I would like to bring him along, I don't think his mama will let him go for an overnight ride just quite yet... :crying: But I will bring pictures.
  25. This has SUUUCKEEEER written all over it. BUT, if grandson cooperates, I will sacrifice my pride and body to volunteer. :crying:
