  1. I had one when I had my old Venture and loved it. I gave it to a friend that had a Venture and he has since passed away. I am going to contact his wife and see if she Venture and equipment. If she has I will keep searching for one. They are worth their weight in gold. Steve
  2. Make the plans and God willing, I will show up. I am so looking forward to getting back in the groove of riding and socializing with other riders.
  3. If luvmy40 hasn't bought it please let me know. Thank you. Steve
  4. Hello Venture Riders. I am Steve Stewart and was a Venture Rider until april of 2011 when I had a wreck that totaled my 04 Venture. After I recovered from the accident I did not get back into riding. It was my second accident that involved head injuries and I decided I didn't want to run the risk of another. Also I have 2 sisters that are RNs and they stated if I ever got on another motorcycle they would strip the meat off my bones with tweezers before they boiled them. So for the last 10 years I have suffered life without a motocycle. Several things have changed in my life and I have bought a 2010 RSV that I am going to pick up Monday. I hope to be outfitted with good gear and back on the road in a couple of weeks. And NO, I haven't told my sisters yet. One I will not tell because she is in Hospice care and the other I will tell soon. I pray she will understand that my passion for riding is worth the risk of an accident. I am looking forward to riding and meeting some of the Venture Riders again. I made it to a campout back in 09 or 10 that I remember very well. Maybe another one can happen after the Covid wears down. My thanks to Freebird for keeping this site open and going. Steve Stewart
  5. Hello everyone. Due to a major accident in April of 2011 I can no longer ride. I am very thankful that I am pretty much back to normal, which is being generous for me, but riding a motorcycle is out of the question for me. It has taken me this long to get to the point that I can even tell my story. It sure stinks, but it is life. While trying to slow down for a curve I got off the road. The ground was soft and the bike stopped, but i didn't. I went off the front of the bike and dug a trench in the ground with my brand new Arai helmet. I firmly believe it was that helmet that prevented some serious brain damage. After a 3 week stay in Vanderbilt hospital and 3 months at home, I was able to return to work driving a towboat on the Mississippi River. As I said, I am truly blessed. Due to this accident I have gotten rid of what was left of the bike and am in the process of disposing of other things. The first and most important is a trialer that I won from Venture Riders two years ago. I have listed the trailer in the Classified section. It is with a very heavy heart that I do this, but it needs to be used. It is a shame to allow it to set and not be utilized. My thanks to everyone for allowing me to tell my story in here. I pray that every one of y'all have a wonderful and very safe ride every time you set out. Steve Stewart
  6. I used a 30 amp LIGHT (continuous duty) relay. This is heavier than you really need, but the price is the same as a 20 amp. I believe in going with heavy amp circuits when possible. My auto parts store had a plug to put on the relay to make the wiring a little easier..
  7. When I first put mine on, I installed a relay and set them up to be on with the low beam only. Yesterday I installed LED passing lamps and rewired the circut so they will be on all the time. However I fear the LEDs will be brighter that the headlight.. LOL
  8. I have been out to the Black Hills 3 times now and the ONE location I never fail to stop and see is the Crazy Horse Monument. It is about 12-15 miles down the road from Mt. Rushmore, but it well worth the trip. Besides the monument itself, there is a museum that shows some of the work of the sculptor ( I won't even try to spell his name). The visit to the museum and the 20 minute video in the theatre is worth the trip out there. And of course, the ride through the Black Hills is TOTALLY AWESOME... And if you have a National Park pass, a ride through the Badlands will only take you a couple of, or 4, hours.. It is some very BEAUTIFUL scenery.. It's not like I'm hung up on that part of the country or anything...., but I am planning a 4th trip out there from KY this summer if the Lord's willing to go with me... The main thing is to be safe and enjoy yourself..
  9. Boss,, you forgot to factor in the Dairy Queen expenses.. That $40 weekend just went to $150.. LOL :mo money::mo money:
  10. WOW... At 750 pounds you will be about 3/4 the weight of your towing vehicle. I would think that would be very dangerous. I can see several different problems with handling issues. Mostly stoppping.. And if you get a wind shear, or a problem with the trailer, well hang it up.. But I'm sure someone with more towing experience what me will chime in with some words of wisdom... Good luck on your trip...
  11. I'm going to throw my unsolicited dog into this hunt. Yes, the tires do have load ratings and so do the bikes. And these are some important numbers. But these are limits that the companies put on there to avoid being held liable for accidents that could come from abuse. And the ratings are a good guidline to go by when purchasing tires to make sure you are getting enough tire. But they are not the end all to deciding whether you should take your wife's second bag of make up.. If I packed my bike solely on the tire rating, my wife, trailer, and most of my gear would be left behind. (I could probably do without most of it) In my opinion, as long as you buy good quality tires (I prefer Metzler ), keep them properly inflated, don't run over something and ruin them, you will be OK on what ever tire you put on there.. Of course this is just my humble, and probably wrong, opinion.. (Yep, the wife says it's wrong)
  12. Thanks for the help fellas.. I've got the check in the mail... :mo money:
  13. The howling from the rear when you lean is your rear tire wearing down in the center. The answer to that is to lean more... LOL Mine does it when it gets close to the time to replace. That could be the noise you are hearing from your air box as well... It could be coming from your tire...
  14. Is Steve Wagner still an active member in here?? If so, what is his screen name?????
  15. Shaun, I may or may not be home, but if you get around Hopkinsville KY, please give me a call.. And "around" means within a couple of hunderd miles.... But for a ride like that, it will be food with the coffee.. LOL
  16. I'm sure someone else will chime in with some more info on this, but I ordered a set of LED driving lights that were around $40 each. I am sad to say that I cannot remember the site I ordered them from. The name "Green Boat" comes to mind, but don't quote me on that. I have not installed them yet, but they are direct replacements for our regular bulbs.. Several in here have done this and are happy with the results. I am going to get mine in while I'm home this time and see if I can't get some use out of them.. I also agree with using the LED brake lights and turn signals from Custom Dynamics, www.customdynamics.com. They work great and are much more visible than an regular bulb. Good Luck
  17. And the problem with that is?????? :dancefool:
  18. Naaaaaaaaaaa... She AINT near as pretty as Mini....
  19. It sure doesn't take long for these threads to go south.......
  20. I've got 70 K on my RSV and have run Metzler ME 880s ever since the first change without a single problem out of them. I'm an aggressive rider and they hold me real well when I lay her over in the curves...
  21. Clean the filler cap well and keep an eye on it. As long as the sludge is limited to the filler cap there is no reason for alarm. You are doing a good, routine maintenace, so there shouldn't be any cause for concern.
  22. Not me either, I guess you are the chosen one... :rotfl:
  23. Dan, from the topic I figured you had another BEAR experience. But then I guess you did. Only this time it was a BARE COUNTER experience...  Oh, the bananas are dancing cause they escaped the slaughter on Thankgiving day... :stirthepot: :stirthepot:
