Anyone on speaking terms with the powers that be?
Evan replied to Black Owl's topic in Watering Hole
Just got in minutes ago to Toronto from Woodstock by way of Guelph here in southern Ontario (a two hour ride). My daughter in Guelph had been calling to see if we got stuck in the severe thunder and rain storm that started minutes after we left her place. Made it home without getting wet but parked the bike and walked inside to see major lightning and rain out the window. The good news is the forecast for sun throughout the rest of the week in this area. -
Your story reminds us all of how critical it is to ride defensively Steve and how much we are all vulnerable to bad cage drivers. Like others, I can relate because of my own close calls over the years where luck - or intinct - saved my a__. Hope your record of no bike accidents survives until the end of your riding!

Here in Ontario Annie, the sale of liquor is restricted to licenced outlets. They are easy to find and for sure will have CC on the shelf, but they are not generally open 24/7.

Just went to iTunes to check out "tapatalk". While it has a good rating from users, I can't tell from the info whether there is much advantage when using my iPhone for this forum. Any users? Any comments?

Yea, Bryan, you are rubbing it in, but good for you!

Hey Rocket, Borden is only an hour from my place. Sure hope to be able to extend some hospitality and also enjoy some Ontario roads with you guys and others here in Ontario. Keep us posted as you come this way!

Yea -- real perdy Annie, and we are all getting excited. Hope Sir ships well. Looking forward to meeting you at Carl's VentureIn!

Don, you and the moderators certainly have my support, along with the obvious support from so many others.

Amazing Chris that you didn't go down or do more damage to you or your Venture. This is one of my worst fears, but I have been lucky so far - no hits. I see you drive for a living. Any comments on how you were able to avoid a wreck?

Great story Jeff.

Same here. My wife was gone for the day and I spent my day hoping the rain would stop enough for a ride - no luck - and to make it worse, the forecast is for rain every day until next weekend.

Very nice Brad. Hope you have a great riding season now that you are ready to go!

Was away for a while so I missed your report on the "fix". Congratulations Carl and Wayne. Hope to see you both on the road real soon and with big smiles. -
Battery is old or something else??
Evan replied to Mover's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mark - I am not a mechanical or battery expert, although I have had my share of bad batteries. When my last battery lost its charge, I tried started my bike with a power pack. Worked like a charm, and that confirmed for me that the problem was my battery. I went with a Deka battery that many on the site reccomend, and now I wouldn't go any other way for my 1st gen. -
Repair Exhaust Collector
Evan replied to Evan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks all for the responses. Major help as usual! I forgot to ask one other question. I have rode quite a bit since the collector was badly punctured. Is there any reason other than leaky exhaust and noise why I should get this repair done as soon as possible rather than letting it go for a while. I do a 500 mile run fairly often. -
Great story to share --- and I hope you have many more smiling days!

Wayne, I can't offer any help on how to fix your problem, but I can sure offer you my sympathy and good luck wishes for a fix that is easier than you expect. The last time I did transmission work was back in about 1964 when I helped my dad replace the forks to fix second gear in my Honda 305 Dream. We got lucky! Hope you get lucky with your fix. -
Freebird's Maintenance Day Parts/Accessories Thread

I purchased and installed these foam grip covers that are pictured in my post almost two years ago. They are foam slip ons. Can't believe how comfortable they are and how well they have held up - they still look and feel like new grips. Here is the link to that post in case you or Michelle are interested. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50436&highlight=evan -
