  1. Stickers belong in a pile on your desk - except for the Venturerider.org that belongs on the windshield just aboev the chrome trim:thumbsup:
  2. Just admiring my Venture
  3. I went and didn't have a clue who was who - still don't except for Freebird and Squidley - doesn't make any difference, there's always next year
  4. I have a 2007 Midnight Venture that's paid for and I'm REALLY sure that the lure of FI won't make me beat a path to get one. That being said, if my bike were a little older, more miles or just time for a change - you can't beat FI for response and to my knowledge - reliability
  5. I put a set of Samsons on my 2007 - rode 11 miles and put the stock mufflers back on. Too loud for me, I now have RK's on it. The boss likes the sound of the RK's so I'm pretty sure I happy.
  6. OK - I'm gonna go without the lock nut - most likely won't need it Thanks -
  7. Don't forget the "master" volume. There's THREE volume controls on the 550. The main one is the "Master" volume and it's the one most people miss adjusting, and likely it's the one causing this problem. I didn't know there was a volume control on the Zumo, been using the control on the Venture control box. David is right, this is one awesome site, more information here than any dealership or tech help. THANKS AGAIN !!
  8. Great pics - thanks for sharing - oh, that one light green/black Venture is REALLY a good looking bike:innocent-emoticon:
  9. Got the backrest today via UPS. It took me longer to get a drill and bit than it did to install it. The only criticism I might have is that there was no lock nut on the screw to adjust the forward/backward setting. Since it was VERY easy to turn the screw by hand, I wonder if it will vibrate and continually be out of adjustment ?? Not really a big deal, should be able to find a nut at the local hardware. It sure is PURTY tho --
  10. From everything I've read, I own a 2007 Venture with a chirp - the decibel level of the chirp is the only thing that's going to change. If it doesn't change appreciably then I'll start badgering my local dealer and see if I can get the clutch thing changed ?
  11. OK - that's where I got confused - when I looked at the oil on the shelf there were 2 mobile 1 and one of them said V Twin, don't remember what the other was. So I want to get Mobile 1 V-Twin and a purolater filter. I'm getting tired of the chirp so this is going to happen tomorrow. Thanks guys
  12. I have a Zumo 550 plugged into the mp3 jack on the cassette. I don't have any trouble hearing 'her'. I have RK's and they are stock. btw - the Zumo 550 is a GOOD unit
  13. and I guess I didn't have enough info. I have amzoil in my '07' Venture but was reading that Mobile 1 was more apt to quiet the whine down a little more. There were 2 types to choose from and @ $10.00 a quart I didn't want to get the wrong one. So - the question is "which mobile 1 oil do I want to get ?? " and how about the filter ??
  14. I tried to keep an eye on the pond but kept getting distracted by all the nice RSTD's & Ventures sitting around. Oh yeah, there was a couple of those 'other' bikes there also I did see a few guys jump in the pond, evidently they were searching for the monster. Didn't hear any screaming so it must not have appeared while I was there.
  15. My first MD - What an event !!!! Thanks Squidley for the carb tune that I didn't need. So many people I wanted to meet but didn't. Didn't have a clue who was who and I wanted to but failed to meet Mrs DON (Eileen) because any woman that would let a couple hundred bikers run thru her home year after year deserves as much applause as anybody. Simply put - Thank You Don and Eileen and all of the "mechanics" that made another successful MD such a GREAT event for all !!:clap2:
  16. Prayers from our house as well -
  17. Nice pics - thanks. I took a dozen pics but forgot to change the camera resolution and they won't load
  18. I have an advantage as I only live 91 miles away from freebird, a little East and a tad South. Being a newbie to the board and to my RSV I didn't have a clue what to really expect. I got there around 10:30 and of course the first thing I did was look up our host and shake his hand. It was quite an experience, I'm not sure how many people were there when I got there but they were coming in all day. Funny thing was - there were riders from everywhere, I walked around and looked at plates on the bike, but there didn't seem to be any strangers including me. It was nice to put a face on a board handle, problem is, my memory is about as long as my hair and by next week I'll have lost the faces again. Maybe a second year and a little more interaction on the board will help my memory. THANKS DON !!
  19. If the pic would have been taken about 3 hours ago there would be way over a hundred bikes in the picture. right now it's 5:08 PM 6/06/09
  20. My best advise would be to tell you to ride a 1500 or 1800 GoldWing, then be thankful you own a Venture !! Over the years I have owned 7 different wings starting with a new 1980 and the last one was a 1998. All of them (TO ME ) are more top heavy than my 2007 RSV. I am NOT bashing Wings, I'm merely saying how my wings felt to me compared to my Venture. btw - I'm 5'9" with a 30" inseam
  21. There is a plug that is used on autos that is installed from the inside of the tire. There is a actual plug that fills the hole and also a patch that covers the hole. This is a one piece unit, I've used it several times on cars but not on a bike, haven't had to yet.
  22. I just tried to order - NO FREE SHIPPING HERE !
  23. I put Harley Road King mufflers on my 2007 RSV. Not noisy but just enough rumble to be noticed. Plus the boss doesn't mind them. There are ways to open them up more and you'll find that info here if you search road king mufflers Good Luck with your search. BTW - you'll want to look around this site and gather info - lotta good stuff here
  24. This debate will go on LONG after we have all rode our last ride, sold or given our bikes away and no longer have the energy to voice an opinion. The good thing about it is that we are able to debate it and still be on friendly terms with each other I would never disassociate myself with someone that uses a modulator, just make sure they were weren't in my mirror.
  25. Like many of you, I have on more than one occasion been riding and found myself daydreaming or gawking around. There is a point in everybody's ride that they forget how fragile a situation they are in. As a rider out there with NO protection afforded us other than OUR OWN due diligence, is it not our responsibility to PAY ATTENTION to the surroundings and act accordingly ?? When we rely on our helmet, modulator, leather boots and Joe Rocket padded outer wear to protect us then perhaps we are doomed to an incident.
