  1. No, sarcasm is not banned. Please feel free to continue. Sorry I mentioned it.
  2. Yes you can. No problem at all. Most people would recommend that the car not be running though.
  3. I've never seen nor tried one of those but I don't see why it wouldn't be just fine. The thing is, for not a lot more than that you can pick up a GPS that has the same functionality and have the music and directions.
  4. I bought an old John Deere about 2 or 3 years ago. It is an early 70's model with a single stage snow blower on the front. I was worried that it wouldn't do the job but it's a real work horse. It has a single cylinder 8HP Kohler cast iron engine and has never missed a beat. I had never owned a snow blower and was worried that the single stage would be plugging up all the time but it works great.
  5. Well said. Just to clarify one small point though. Private messages and emails sent to each other here are NOT read nor censored in any way. If you send an email to another member through the email function of this site, it does user the VentureRider server but is not monitored in any way. The only way that I would get involved here in private messages and/or emails would be if one member claimed that they were being harassed by another. Your email address is never made public here unless you post it in a thread or send it to somebody.
  6. I don't think that anything will. That's why they are going back to aluminum tips without the chrome.
  7. Somebody posted the other day that Bub was going back to the non-plated aluminum end caps as they used when they first introduced these mufflers. I think that would be a good decision on their part. They went to chrome because that's what people kept asking for but it was obviously not a good decision.
  8. Well, I'm not going to get into a public argument about it here. This is a subject that has been discussed here and voted on by the members more than once. We have few rules and the ones that we do have are made very clear before anybody has to decide if they want to officially join or not. I think that the rules we have in place are most acceptable to the majority here and that is the best we can do.
  9. I have bought from them several times and have been by their place a couple of times. They have always been very nice to me. I agree that they seldom answer emails though and they have stated that in their ads. They have been great the few times that I have called them and/or stopped by.
  10. I'm sensing a little sarcasm here. Will stop at that for now.
  11. and the is a reason why you would not post it in the WTB section of the classifieds and then a link in the new area if you felt that enough didn't see it?
  12. It is absolutely a scam and not that much different from all the others out there. She never said that you wouldn't have to put the money up...she said that she would not HAVE the money. That simply means that she'll want you to put it into an escrow account and it will for SURE be a fake one. She will have your money immediately and you'll have nothing but a lighter wallet.
  13. Here is a CORRECTED procedure for syncing the carbs. As V7Goose says, the manual is wrong and will really mess you up. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=258
  14. Done. Added under vehicles category.
  15. Well I know very little about trucks. I've never driven trucks and probably never will. I see a LOT of them though because I'm on the road so much. I met one the other day and didn't know what it was but it was the first big truck in a long time that caught my eye. It looked beautiful coming down the road. I had to do some looking online to figure out what I had seen but I finally found it. Now I have no idea if they are any good but going by looks alone, this is what I would want to drive. International LoneStar.
  16. I give the edge to the 665 but just barely. The XM for the 665 does not seem to get as strong a signal as the 550 did. The touchscreen on my 665 is not as good as the 550 but some people have reported exactly the opposite on that issue. The lane change feature is very nice but really only works in certain major metropolitan areas. That's really the only time it is really needed though. The speed limit indicator is a nice feature and I also like the fact that it automatically changes time zones when you cross into a new one. 665 will handle a LOT more MP3 tunes. Overall, knowing what I know now, I'm not 100% sure that I would upgrade from my 550 to the 665. If I didn't already own either one, then I would recommend the 665 unless you came across a fantastic deal on a 550.
  17. No, never heard of them. I'll be back there soon enough though. I'll try to remember that.
  18. Woke up early this morning, around 3:30. I've been in Louisville, KY all week and will be heading home later today. It has rained most of the week and traffic and rain really wears me out. Eileen says it has rained off and on all week at home also but the forecast for tomorrow is showing a high of 47 degrees and only a 10% chance of rain. If it's that good, I plan to find the time to get a little ride in. I sure need to spend some time in the wind to clear this old mind...or what's left of it.
  19. I posted a Dyno chart here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=533041&postcount=5 This was done several years ago and I'm also 100% sure that it was done at the Dyna facility when Kent was working with them after they first released the Dyna module for the RSV. The red lines are with stock ignition, the others are with the Dyna installed and a couple of different settings.
  20. It makes very little difference in actual HP or torque. In my opinion, the only REAL advantage to it is that it allows you to raiser the rev limiter. If you never hit the rev limiter now, then I would say that it is not worth the money at all.
  21. Sorry folks, I tried to move and merge two threads but since it does it by time posted, it put them out of order. Al's question should have been the first post of the thread.
  22. I think that this would be the right forum for it.
  23. Very cool old bike. I'll have to look and see if I have any parts for it....hold on.... Nope...nothing here.
  24. I think the issue is now resolved. Much of what you are suggesting is just not possible in the forum area. The current classifieds already do most everything you have mentioned.
  25. As for Glacier, Eileen and I were there a few years ago. I don't remember the name of the hotel where we stayed but it was the one inside the park. Rustic but very clean and we really enjoyed it. No telephone and no televisions though. There is also a pretty decent restaurant connected to it. Road to the sun just shouldn't be missed. Beyond that, there are a lot of things to see and do in the area. Eileen and I did a whitewater rafting trip that was fantastic and at the end of it, they grilled great steaks there on the bank of the river. We really enjoyed it. Don't remember the rafting company either but it was right at the entrance of the park. Here is a pic of us with friends in front of the hotel inside the park. Like I said, it is nothing fancy but we really did enjoy it. The other picture is Eileen and I at the top of the Road to the Sun. I don't remember for sure but I think this was mid to late July.
