I suppose most will hate this, but a LIKE button?
Freebird replied to myminpins's topic in Requests for Features
I kind of agree. I don't really think that we need a "thanks" button and a "like" button. I see no problem with using the "thank you" feature for both. There is a feature that adds a like button but basically what it does is post the thread to your facebook account. For those without facebook accounts, it would be useless. -
I bought a small Lincoln wire feed welder about 8 or so years ago. It has come in very handy around here and I've used it many times. I had only welded a few times in my life and never had any proper training. For simple home repairs on lawn equipment and etc., anybody can become proficient enough to get the job safely done with a few hours of practice. Plus, I enjoy doing it myself. Like others here have said though, buy a 220V unit. Mine is a 110V model from Home Depot. It was less than $200.00. It works OK on thin gauge steel, up to 1/8" or so. I've even welded 1/4" steel with it and it will work but you have to go slow and I don't know that I would trust it for anything structural. Spend the extra money and get a 220V unit.

Don't get me involved in this. No way am I going to insult the best mechanic we have.

Yep, it was Dragonrider. Here is the thread. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48441

Somebody here did it I think. I believe, but am not sure, that Lewis (Dragonrider) did it.

I don't think that anybody would be offended. Also, I know Ponch well enough to say that he would want credit to go where it is due. It's all good and I thank everybody who was involved because it truly is a great idea.

They should absolutely be covered under warranty. If you are impatient and don't want to wait, there are several options that will work. Pioneer, Polk, etc. Really nothing special about them. I don't think you will see a lot, if any, improvement in sound though. Since you are taking it in for the cassette deck anyway, you may as well make them replace the speakers.

I have already replied in the other thread so won't repeat it here.

Looks like it came from the factory that way. Very nice.

No problem. The other site is venturers.org

I agree completely. That's why I love the Mic-Mutes. We just quickly toggle the mics on and off.

Yep...that's where the word "QUICKSILVER" came from.

There's not really a definitive answer to that. They seem to vary a bit. I think mine will usually start sputtering about 20 miles after the low fuel light comes on. Sometimes I don't even notice the light and will just feel it losing power as it runs out of gas. I just reach down then and switch it to reserve. Some folks leave it on reserve all the time and just use the lights but like I said, I sometimes don't even notice them. If I DO notice the low fuel light, I'll usually just switch it to reserve right then and get gas at the next place I come to.

Let's just say that it wasn't a good partnership.

I find that information to be questionable at best. Comparisons between the RSV and MRSV make absolutely no sense. They even show a 2 HP difference and we all know that these bikes have the exact same engines.

Yes, I would love to see some larger pictures. What I can see looks great.

OK folks, I'm sorry about the delay but the VRAssistance files have FINALLY been updated. The newest versions can be downloaded from the first post of this thread. Thank you for your patience.

He's doing OK folks. He stopped by the house on Saturday. He has had a lot going on this summer. His mother has been sick and he has made a couple of trips to be with and help her. He's fine though.

You'll get answers all across the spectrum. Do a search for Garmin and you'll find a LOT of threads on this subject. I personally use the Zumo 665 because I love the built in XM and MP3 but if you don't need those things, there are much cheaper options.

Just so you know, Phil sent me an email about joining up here and I told him that would be fine. I will be adding him to our member vendor section so he can keep you all updated on any special offers and etc. -

Either you used a different one than most of us did or else I'm not sure what you are talking about. Did you use the one that is shown in this thread? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3768 -
Well, if it had a built in XM or Sirius, that just means that I would have to pay for yet another subscription. I much prefer my stand alone unit in the Garmin 665 that I can move around from one vehicle to another. I honestly am surprised that anybody expected to see anything new. If there was an entirely new RSV on the radar, there would have been at least SOME leaked information about it. I never expected to see any updates to the current bike. If and when we see a new Venture, I fully expect that it will be totally new, not just small changes to what we have now. It does worry me a bit that they made updates to the Stratoliner. NAV system and etc. They appear to be moving it more and more towards a full blown tourer. About the only things remaining are a tour pak and cruise control. Not sure if it has intercom or not but those are very simple things to ad. I HOPE that is not the future of the Venture. I think it's a nice bike but certainly not a Venture.
