  1. Some positive news from Rose today. Please keep those prayers coming. Dan said his first word today...Obert What a wonderful day it is with the sun shining. Breathing somewhat on his own. Vent tube was taken out yesterday. Also using o2 face tent to help with breathing.
  2. I moved this thread to the "Prayers" forum but also wanted to say that you will certainly be in my prayers. I can't even pretend to understand how you must feel right now. So sorry to hear this news.
  3. Just another quick update. I asked Rose if there had been any communication yet. Here is the response. No communication yet. I keep talking to him. Only time will tell. They lower the meds then ask him to move his toes or fingers or open his eyes and he does that sometimes. We have got him to slightly open his eyes on request but nothing on his own yet. I just know that he Is very very lucky to be alive. We will work on the rest in time. Thanks for the prayers.
  4. I received the following this morning from Rose. Though the injuries are bad, it sounds to me like there is reason for optimism. Good morning, Just thought I would update. Had a little rough night with the vent last night but is doing fine now and resting. No need for surgery to the face at this point. Will do surgery to his nose at a later date. He did crack the C2 and C4 just found out last night about the latter one and will be wearing the C collar for at least 3 months and then another collar after that for who knows how long. Too early to tell. I'm going to the Chapel. More updates another day. Please thank everyone for all the prayers and keep them coming.
  5. No, I'm 99.9% sure that it does not.
  6. Yea, what Kent said but also, how much Seafoam did you use? There have been many reports here about heavy does of Seafoam fouling the plugs on the first gen bikes. I haven't heard that on the second gen and really don't understand why the first gens seem to do it so much. I guess what I'm saying though is that maybe you should try a new set of plugs before going any further.
  7. This is not a slam against CC if they are going to offer additional shipping methods but I can tell you for a FACT that I will NEVER order anything from any company if I know that they are going to use DHL. Yes, USPS, UPS and FedX all mess up from time to time. Nobody is perfect. I can tell you for a fact though that I have had more bad experiences than good with DHL and will never knowingly use them again. A few years ago, I had read that DHL was pulling out of the USA market and was very glad to hear it. Apparently that was not the case though.
  8. Got an email from Rose this morning. Nothing new really. She said that the doctors were trying some different things to see what kind of responses they get. I know that she must be exhausted as she is not leaving the hospital and staying by his side 24/7.
  9. Yea, I could do that but unfortunately, it would still be there when you look out the window.
  10. Sounds nice. I love pearl white. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.
  11. No, I don't know what might have happened. The chat room is hosted on a different server than the forum. Maybe they were having some technical issues. Let me know if it happens again.
  12. A bit of an update. I just got off the telephone with Rose and have a bit more information now. I thought that it happened this morning but it was actually yesterday morning. Apparently he was on his way to work when he hit the 8 point buck. Not sure how long before he was found. Rose said that a lady found him and that he was not breathing and had no pulse. Luckily she knew CPR and administered it on the spot and got him back. Rose said that Dano had a pretty decent night last night but they have him heavily sedated and she has therefore not been able to talk to him. For those who are new around here. Dano and Rose have been a part of our club for many years and have been very active not only here on the forum but at our rallies and meets. Dan is always there to lend a hand when anybody needs one and is a very good friend to all who have the privilege of knowing him.
  13. Folks, I hate having to post this type of information but I just received an email from Rosemary Obert that Dan Obert (Dano) was involved in a motorcycle accident this morning. I know very little at this time. The following is the email that I received. Please keep our friend Dano in your thoughts and prayers. Rosemary wrote: Dan has been in a motorcycle accident this morning on his way to work. Eight point buck and motorcycle don't mix. He is at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis in neuro critical care unit. All we want is prayers please.
  14. Is that the stock rubber cover that comes on the bikes new? If so, I may have one and if I can find it, you can have it. I'm out of town right now though so it will be the weekend before I can look. If you don't find one before then, I'll see if I can come up with it.
  15. There's also one right here in Ohio. Just a few miles from me. I've never used them but have seen their work and it is excellent. http://www.customchromeplating.com/index.html
  16. I've never used either product but I've read elsewhere that the Miracle Cloth is pretty much the same thing as the Classic Cloth. Here's the website but if you want to try it, check out Ebay. MUCH cheaper there. http://www.miraclecloth.com/
  17. OK then...I can do it in 1/2 second. Actually, I have a Corbin seat on the '99 and long ago removed the one screw that holds the backrest in. So, it just pulls right out. No reason for it to be bolted in that I know of.
  18. I can beat that. The backrest on my '99 comes off and goes back on in about 2 seconds.
  19. In my opinion, take it out and store it in your house.
  20. A carb sync takes about 10 minutes. It is also very simple to do. I wish you lived closer and I would do it for free.
  21. I think it's a great idea but we haven't done well with VentureRider flags here. I designed one and have one on my bike and we had a guy that was making and shipping them on demand. I think he went out of business but the last I talked to him, he had received very few orders. I already have one but would sure buy another one if we come up with another source. The ones that I was having made were just a black flag with our Venturerider logo in silver. Mine has held up very well over the years.
  22. No, that is not the correct seat. Here is how it should look on the bottom. I found this one on the Pinwall site. He has a number of passenger seats for sale.
  23. I finally took the time yesterday to watch the special on the Discovery Channel, "IGenius". I actually thought that it was pretty well done. It seemed to me that they emphasized the improvements that he made to many products and I was glad to see that he was just given credit for "inventing" so many things that some have claimed that he did. They pointed out that he was, what they called, a "re-inventor". He added his touch to many products and did indeed improve a lot of them. I agree that his contributions to the industry were tremendous and again, thank him for that.
  24. Hearing about Ponch's great process always brings a smile. I think of him all the time and look forward to visiting with him again. I tell you what, he just HAS to come to maintenance day so he needs to keep chasing the nurses around until he feels better. I know that he won't be able to ride but hopefully he will feel well enough by then to fly up. It's too early to start it now but I'm thinking that a small fundraiser to buy some airline tickets is in our future. I am also reserving the guest bedroom or the guest house here for them this year. So...make your plans folks. I hope that we can make Freebird's Maintenance Day a very special one this year. I will be announcing the dates soon.
  25. Beautiful bike. You don't find them like that very often.
