Pretty happy with my Metzler ME 880's

I dont think the Dunlop404 will last you very long, they arent as well made a tire as the Dunlop e3. the Dunlop E3 had more plies and deeper tread, with the compound rubber to give longer life. As i understand it the E3 puts a harder rubber compound running up the middle of your tire with softer rubber on the side so you get the grip when you lean over. Ive read that most people dont get very good mileage from the 404 tires on a bike as heavy as the RSV or RSTD, but the E3 seem to do much better. just my 2 cents, Brian -

when working on mine lasr summer I had to disassemble a bunch of things and I found that the needle on the temp guage is just friction fitted onto a pin. the needle just lifts straight off the pin. when I put mine on I ended up like yours as I didnt check on the cold position well enough, so I just waited for the bike to be cold, and lifted the needle off the pin, and then made sure the needle was in the right position before I pushed it back onto the guage's pin. When Rocket put my progressives in, we talked about ride and he suggested if I wanted a softer ride we should try not putting their spacer in, or finding something shorter so it doesnt have as much preload. Mine have been running great for about 4 years now since the owrk was done not using any spacer. (But ive noticed this year the ride is getting a bit soft, so I may have to find something to space it a bit). Brian

A friend sent me this link to these vids that are strung together over a few days while clearing out an auto and bike collector estate. It is the most amazing collection of old bikes ive ever seen, and they started some that hadnt run for 70 years or more! http://www.coolestone.com/media/3728/America039;s-Ultimate-Barn-Find/ Enjoy! People seem to forget that Canada and the US are vastly different countries in a few respects and very alike in so many others Sure the health care adds a bit to our costs of items, but people forget that we only have 10% of the US populationand that we are living in a larger land area which also adds to costs from shipping travel costs, road building, etc. Spreading the larger costs over a small population escalate fairly quickly. Another huge reason we have increased price is the fact a large chunk of us live in a lot colder environment than the US Heating homes, increased fuels costs when running a vehicle in the cold and yes, plugging a car into the elctrical outlet to keep it warm all add to our costs. We just live in a different space then the US and neither country is right or wrong, we are just different in the way we want to pay for things. We pay on our purchased items, you pay on health insurance premiums. Brian Please dont let this get out of hand. its just an explanation of cost differences US to Canada, its not political. (lets not go there)

I took my 85 up over the Beartooth pass last year at 11000ft and had no issues at all. Brian -
youre really shipping your boys all over Western Canada arent you? Is this the start of the BC takeover plan? Brian

the G2 Venture trikes are the best looking trikes around when using the Hannigan trike in my mind. i was sold when I saw Larry's (Carbon One) in Cody WY, nice rig!! I am slated for a hip replacement in late fall so I am watching this thread pretty closely too... Brian

MKII parts on a MKI
friesman replied to Rickaroo's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
the trunk off an 85 or newer should fit as a bolt on, but youll need the rack under the trunk (the 85 is different as it is removable like the earlier models) that matches the trunk to bolt it to, and youll also probably need the antenna mounts to extend it out wider to clear the new trunk. Brian -
We are not socialists up here, its a democracy, evidently you wouldnt know a socialist if it bit you. The insurance industry in Ontario is run very similar to the way it is in most of the states with each state and Province having its own rules and pricing based on market. The Canadian Govt has little to do with setting prices on insurance, it just monitors that regulations are being followed. Different parts of Canada are charged widely varying prices, and a couple of insurance companies are run by a provincially run agency. Brian

the whine on decel got way worse before the output shaft went out. But my bike has always had a whine before and after Rockets fix.......and no its not the owner.... brian

I dont remember seeing them on the 2011 RSV's and I dont think you should need steering dampers on any bike. I can see them on a trike where you rake the forks back,... but what do I know.....everything I know about bikes I learned from here....lol Brian

I just use the Scala headsets with FM radio and a jack to hookup an mp3 player. No need to hook anything up and with the speakers in the helmet you still hear traffic around you.. I also use a Garmin 765t gps with its fm transmitter turned on so I get the directions to the headset, but the gps unit also has a slot for an sd card that I fill with music and stream it to my headsets using the FM transmitter in the GPS and then set the Scala headset to recieve that frequency.. No wires, nothing to install on the bike. brian

I hate it when that happens..... Brian

The trike might be , but not sure about any mods, I wasnt sure what mods you had on your Harley trike. Brian

Gee, I never turn mine off, I just reach around and unplug the unit from the bike The unit runs almost anytime I am on the bike, sometimesfor days at a time, as mine is wires directly to the battery, not theu the switch. I dont use the mapping features nearly as much as I use the music, though. Brian
