Maybe check the speedo sensor, glued to the bottom dash housing, above the speedo cable fitting. Could it be that it is loose & not reading the distance traveled????? Remember, this feature operates by a combination of distance since activation & elapsed time, both conditions must be met for it to work.

A good upgrade to the brake system, would to install stainless steel braided flex lines. They make a huge difference & would make a good winter project. The stock flex lines, were supposed to be replaced, every 4 years. BTW didn't you mean an 85 Venture Royale, as that was the last year with the 1200 engine. It is the fastest one, in the Venture family..........

I'm thinking on trailering mine, in December to Vancouver Island. As I might get some winter riding in (as long as it's not like last winter there). I should be there, for almost a month I hope, before heading back to -30C to -50C temps.

New Clutch Installed - Now Creeping
Rocket replied to MasterGuns's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The parts list is correct, it sits between the inner & outer baskets. It is splined to keep the inner hole size as small as possible, to my way of thinking about it. That threw me off the first time too, until I looked closer at the parts list. -
i need help and INPUT please

It is Marks Performance http://markspipe.com/index.htm, but it looks like the prices have jumped, big time. -
The fork seals, as the oil can run down, onto the calipers. Aside from that, a piece of crud under the bleeder screw, or on the crush washers., preventing a good seal.

If the 2nd gen uses a single H4 bulb less than 115 watts, it will work.

No problem at all & finally we got to meet up.

I believe Kurt is mailing you the hammer, as well as the camera, that was forgotten in Cody. Grandpagak had put it in his truck, prior to going to supper at the Irma.

That's why this year, I kept it to 2 days riding time to get to / from a meet. As I didn't have a lot of extra time to use, just to get to & from the meets. This year I had a 2 day head start with being in eastern Alberta, don't know about next year's location yet.....

Stator Replacement
Rocket replied to Saddle_Bag's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Had to unpack the camera first, as the pics would be helpful to him. -
Ok, maybe Black Owl was in error, when he told me that, earlier this week.

So the International meets are no longer alternating between the US & Canada, as previously intended???? That is why, I had suggested the Nelson BC meet as it is already in the works, just need to add some things to it.

Stator Replacement
Rocket replied to Saddle_Bag's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have a few pics, that I took, which will be below. Remove left side lower fairing, left side case guard & foot peg along with shifter pedal linkage. Drain oil from the main drain plug & middle gear cover bottom bolt. Re-install drain plug afterwards. Remove middle gear cover & dis-connect wires for the stator & ignition pickup. Also un-route those wires, so the case can be pulled away to do the inner stuff & clean the gasket surfaces. Remove outer clip & washer for shift shaft passing through stator case, remove stator case. Remember there is magnetic attaction between the rotor & stator, also the starter drive gears will fall out. Remove the protective cover for the stator wires (normally #3 phillips screwdriver). Remove the 3 @ #3 screws holding the stator into place. They can be very tight /difficult (possible threadlocker usage). Clean all gasket mating surfaces, with stator out & wipe out the inside of the case afterwards. Install new stator & I use threebond #1194, at the location where stator wires pass through the case. I want to ensure there is no leaks, between case & the rubber. I grease the gaskets prior to install, as it will seal & make it easier to remove them again, if needed to. I place the gasket onto the engine itself, along with the locating dowels. Slide the shift shaft, into the case, after lubing. Ensure the linkage is towards the top & no washer has dropped off the shaft, while doing the prior work. Make sure the starter gears are in position & slide the stator case back into position. You may need to tap the front end of the case with the heel of your hand. Install the Allen bolts, they are just fairly snug & less than 20 Ft Lbs. Route the stator & ignition pickup wires, close up the retainers & re-connect the wires into the harness. Re-install the outer washer & circlip for the shifter shaft. Install the middle gear cover, gasket & the Allen bolt with the copper washer, sits in the bottom position (6 o'clock). Re-install the footpeg & outer shift linkage. Add required amount of oil. Start up the engine & test voltage output. Re-install anything else removed
