  1. The Silverstar H4 is motorcycle rated. Bulb 9003 - still a silverstar is not. Do not know what Autozone sells.
  2. looks like they moved it to the Yamaha subdirectory. Yeah someone must have told them the title was wrong, but the description was right. So now the Title is Kawasaki Other?, but under Yamaha. Actually they are a good used bike dealer SW of Milwaukee. Have been in the several times, and they move alot of bikes.
  3. I think you should send those comments on to Ride On. They claim it is chemically inert, so it should not do this.
  4. Eric is here as FutureVentures. He is posting his ride home, though I have not seen any thing new for today, so not sure if he is still stuck in storms.
  5. One place you might want to look is www.craigslist.com, they have free listings all over the country. Look under motorcycles and type in trailers. You can also look in trailers. there are usually some cheap ones that will haul the bike or you can add a wheel chock. Also, Harbor Freight sells similar trailers with higher load ratings. Once you add a deck, wheel chocks and tie down points, you have added some weight. I know some others have used the 8' trailer and added a motorcycle rail which extends over the back slightly.
  6. Looks great, just what I have wanted to do to my 89 VR. It is apart for reparis and mods. Where's the write up and parts list?
  7. I would recommend that you look at a Wells Cargo trailer, they make a 14' cycle trailer. It is a one axle, 3000# trailer. It has rear jacks on it. This is a good example. You might want a little more height. I currently have an older Homesteader that is 14' and is 6' 6" inside. Added a side door and it is Single axle. The 3000# is nice in that it does not require brakes and many mini vans and larger can pull it. Mine holds the Venture nicely with room on all sides. If you add brakes you could go to 3600#, but I do not have the room inside to put two VR's. I added 5000# tie downs in the floor, also added an extra 3/4" floor. Put in lighting and will probably add a winch soon. Have fun looking.
  8. Not sure why it would be in the intercom only. Have you checked that the noise filter is connected? You can go to 1st gen tech forum and download the parts diagrams. Look in Audio part 52. It is located by the tuner and amp in the left fairing. If you do clear it up, post what you found out.
  9. I have my 89 VR apart for repairs. I have the green plug but different color wires and it is not connected to anything. I have orange/red and black/red. It looks like they go back to the computer right hand plug. According to my manual that should be the California air vent control. I do not have a California model.
  10. I was having trouble with my 89 VR with the light coming on. I bled the brakes, both front and back, and replaced the fluid as much as possible in both cylinders. This took care of the problem. I was told at the time, I might have air in the lines.
  11. One thing I do when I cannot find what I want, usually because I do not know the technical name, I go to McMaster Carr's website. www.mcmaster.com and search there. Look in electrical and see what they have. The min. order would get you there, but it helps to search the internet or talk to a local supplier.
  12. One that is popular in WI is Dairyland ins. They specialize in motorcyle and high risk auto. I use Farmers because of the other coverages, my price is very competitive.
  13. Yes it is the class system. Most common problem is shown in the thread above. Solder joints break on the board for the connector. Just fixed mine.
  14. Put me in for 1. One bike has one and one doesn't
  15. I am looking at picking up a 89 VR listed as a parts bike. The guy is asking $600. I have seen it and most of the plastic is junk, seat is ripped. Looks like he left it outside all winter and not covered, not sure. Question is what on the bike would still have to work to make it worth the trouble of buying and stripping down? I cannot see his price at this time, claims new computer last year. I have not hooked up a good battery to see what works or if it really starts. He claims all but the cruise work, and it runs good. I need a few parts to get both of my bikes fully functional, different items between them. Thoughts, opinions would help.
  16. I have to look at mine tonight and see if they have original braces. I have alot of wobble with my 89 VR, but the back tire looks cupped. Starting to tear this one apart.
  17. Welcome to VentureRider. Yes this is common problem. One of the first things to consider is the battery cables. They were too small. Look under the classifieds, first gen parts, there are larger replacement cables there. you might want to consider this. There are many threads here on starting issues, try a search. lol
  18. I don't know what you are paying and if nothing better comes up. But there is a company in Milwaukee called Daily Direct, www.haulbikes.com and that is all they do. Just because they are right behind the HD plant, don't let that stop you. I have not used them, but they run alot of trailers, they business keeps growing. lol
  19. Hey Dan: We went on three of them today. Always love the one behind Holy Hill. Mike
  20. When I was doing MC training classes, the instructor used to say never take a passenger until you have put 3000 miles on a bike. This was for new to riding or a different bike. Huge difference in handling when I took my first passenger on the Venture. Decided to do it easy, level area, not much traffic, as I had not rode with the passenger previously. Glad I did, almost lost it a time or two. We have since learned to work together. Glad you are both okay.
  21. Sounds similar to what I put up with for 6 plus months. There was some static on the phone, but nothing to call on. DSL tech was seperate from phone tech. Finally after running all new cable, new modem, several vists from DSL tech, a tech said he did not like the static on the phone line that was there intermittently. I called in a phone problem report, they found a power supply at their junction box failing. Would overheat and shut down. cool down and come back on. The problem with the service was that the dsl tech service was seperate from the phone tech and so they looked in totally different places. Once this was replaced, no problems in several years.

  23. I carry mine in the trunck in a case, no problem. Smoother ride than my 4x4 it normally rides in. No matter what you do buy a seperate back up drive and do it regularly.
  24. I have a heel toe shifter and like it. Problems relate to big feet and floorboard. I have no place to comfortably put my foot with it. I am picking up another venture with toe shifter and foot peg. I will play with the combinations and see what I come up with.
