  1. I used a 3' firestick with a stock splitter for most of the season and it worked very well. I broke it with my garage door so now have a steel base loaded unit and it also works very well. I cannot tell the difference. Sierra has splitters if you can't get a stock one. The important part is getting it tuned to your CB. Anything will work for the AM/FM Wayne
  2. The 83 and 84 models did not come with the vents over the rear cylinders. The chrome covers for that area are aftermarket. eBay has the vents for the lowers fairly often but maybe someone on here has a set.
  3. Hey Carl: How come all the exciting things happen after Robin and I are gone? Glad you are ok.. Is Scamper hurt? Wayne
  4. Me too.. I find them to be a great gift...
  5. Hey BOB:: This is GRRREAT!!! news.. Looking forward to getting some riding in with you and Becky very soon.. Congradulations ! ! !
  6. I really like my bike. I also really like 2nd gear. I use it on almost every corner in town. My intention is to change the washer as a winter project this coming winter. So far the thing has not been a problem and I have 68,000 Kms (42,000 miles). I'm thinking I can just change the washer. I was really hoping to not have to take the whole engine apart but if that is what I have to do then so be it. I really don't intend to wait or leave it any longer than that. Good thing winters are fairly long here in Ontario. Wayne
  7. Is it possible to change the washer without splitting the engine? If it is done before the gear starts to slip then I'm assuming the washer is all that needs to be replaced.. Is that true? Wayne
  8. Is that true? The 450 fails to include the car adapter?
  9. Thanks for the accurate review Gearhead: I DID get all the controls. Rear and Front. BUT the 84 wiring harness is missing places to plug this stuff in so I didn't use it. Also the 84 bag has not got enough room to mount the rear control. I got a waterproof PTT button meant for the rear of a 1500 wing and it works perfect for the passenger as it has a velcro strap to attach it to the grab bar. I took another one and after dissassembling it I was able to glue it to the back of my left hand controls so it is where it would be in a stock situation. Noise: I have some noise almost all the time. If I'm not riding in a group I can route the CB and radio to the speakers. When I do that the intercom is dead silent and we can talk and hear perfectly. If I'm riding solo and want to use the CB it also works fine if I turn on the mute then turn up the CB. Problem comes in when I want to use both the CB and the intercom (which is most of the time). Seems to be static on the line all the time. My wife unplugs after awhile because it bothers her so much. I have no filter but just won one on eBay so will attempt to wire that into the system and see if it helps. Again thanks for the input Wayne
  10. Thanks Gearhead. I suppose there is one for the rear as well then.. I am chasing noise and trying to figure this out. Did you solve your noise issue? I have heard there is a noise filter in these somewhere and I don't have a clue where they go. Wayne
  11. Hi there: I have an 84 VR and have installed a CB etc out of a 92. The 5 pin cord that goes from the radio the where the driver plugs his headset in has a plug sticking out the side of it half way down. Can someone tell me what is suppose to plug into that? Could it be a filter of some sort? Wayne
  12. VERY neat and clean installation... Good Job!!!
  13. Here are some shots of the dinner... and the questionable behavior.. Tinkerbell even gets a kiss from our trailer winner... http://s341.photobucket.com/albums/o365/Wizard765/?albumview=slideshow
  14. There are a few folks in the Kitchener area that I'm sure would be happy to load the bike on a trailer and secure it. What about setting up a relay? How far from home are you?
  15. Buddyrich: Do you have a picture of what it looks like? Wayne
  16. Buddyrich: I'm also curious about your cable. Would this work on a 1st Gen? Zumo 550 and your cable? Do you know if there is a way to wire it in? Wayne
  17. YEP .. Squidley is here right now and brought his carb sync as well as colour sync. I think you should stop in at Bingemans and check out the venture ralley.... If you don't want to join our rides then the Wednesday afternoon is sort of set aside for seeing the Yamaha reps and Plastex demo as well as swapping tall tales... :-) Wayne
  18. Great Idea.. I believe in the early years Venture Standard was available but in later years only the Royale was made. Not sure what year this changed. 86 and up came with CB and prior to that was available as an option. Not only was the trunk bigger on the 86 and up but the backrest is adjustable. Roll bars are different as well due to the larger bags. Passenger floor boards are standard after 86. Wayne
  19. Bob: Carl and I installed a CB in Blondie over the winter. It was fairly easy. Mother sent me the wireing diagram (Thanks Mother) and all went without a hitch. The hardest part was getting the radio to fit in the plastic. We moved the CLASS up and put the radio where the CLASS is now. I got a PTT button (2 of them) from Wingstuff for the rear of a 1500 and they are waterproof as well as easy to install. Let me know if you want a hand. Did you get the wires for the headsets and the one that goes across from the CB to the radio? Wayne
  20. It appears that you have a time limit and may not get the time to remove the extras. In my opinion if you have a place to keep the "parts" bike I'd for sure keep her. If there are enough good parts you will have those available for the new scoot or even sell parts on eBay. Either way I'd say you are farther ahead to keep the bike. Wayne
  21. Jopie: JGorom's 04 Midnight is an excellent unit... if it isn't gone.
  22. I get the same effect. Sometimes I even get sore ribs.. Must be from having to hang on so tight..
  23. Thanks for the replys.. I've had mine apart a few times. Changed the bulb as well. Looks like putting a jumper in is the best solution so far. Thanks Randya for that suggestion. Wayne
  24. Hi Folks: I have a high beam indicator with a mind of it's own. Blue light works if it feels like it and takes a break whenever... Sometimes after I've been out for awhile it will come on then works fine for the rest of the ride. Temperature and dampness do not seem to matter. Any ideas? Wayne
  25. Hey Phil: I'm so glad you could walk away from this one. Like everyone is saying "bikes can be fixed" You will heal and if you need some help with the scoot let me know. Wayne
