Have used Amsoil syn 10-40 in the past but currently using Mobil 1 mc oil Racing 4T syn. Mainly because it's easier to find and slightly cheaper to boot. Larry

I've done the same thing on my bike as well. No secondary bypass switch thou bcause the high beam being on a seperate part of the circut is still operable. Plus I still have driving lights if both should fail. Larry

Electrical Gremlins have come to visit
Carbon_One replied to ragtop69gs's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Boy Jay you sure been having some electrial fun lately. Still have any hair left? Seriously just take a deep breath and start back at step one tracing the lights circut being sure each step is good from power source to ground. AND make sure the bulbs are good too. Larry -
Got a buddy looking for one. Send more info to lskeels@wowway.com Larry

I'll 2nd this as well. Sure I miss the two wheelers now and then but also know in my heart triking was the best way to go for me as well. Currently I have close to 50 k on my bike with 30 k of that on 3 wheels. Larry

Soon as I get some time to make the drawings and do the write up I'll put up a new post. However if you're in need of the info right away I'll send some info to you sooner rather than later. Larry

Yes you could do that but it's much easier to flip a switch rather than reaching down and fiddling with a pair of mechanical valves. When on the slabs doing 70 and you run out on one tank the time it takes to switch valves could really reduce your speed a lot causing someone to run up on you. Flipping a switch is much easier and faster. Just my thoughts here is all. Larry

Could be right or NOT. Time will tell. Larry

I made my own tank due to none available for my Tri-Wing triked kit. Included in the set up is a electric fuel pump, filter, and a fuel shut off solenoid. The way it works is when the auxiliary tank is being used the stock fuel pump is shut off. When the stock pump is being used the auxiliary fuel pump is shut off and the solenoid is turned on. The purpose of the solenoid is to prevent the auxiliary pump from pushing fuel thru the stock pump and into the stock gas tank. It's all controlled with a switch and relay. Really simple system thou it may not sound like it. I'll be doing a write up in the near future on this but if you want more detailed info now let me know. Larry

Snow? We haven't seen snow here in over a month other then a few lost flakes. Here is s.e. Michigan of course. BUT I'm sure you'll not miss the cold or snow too much. Good luck on your move. Larry

Yep besides the hitch I built for Jay (see his post above for pics) We're doing a top secret project. Pics and info to follow at a later date. Larry

I just checked Jays bike and that differential is mounted rock solid to the frame. No way for it to move at all so my only thought on that is Hannigan says what they say for safety concerns due to it being off-center and allowing the rear end to tillt. Larry
-
Didn't jack up the Hannigan trike by the differential but don't understand Hannigan's no-no on that. I've jacked up cars & trucks many times over the years by the differentials without any ill effects. And they weigh a whole lot more then these trikes do. Larry

Looking forward to seeing it when you get it home. Enjoy the ride. Larry

Honest advice needed
Carbon_One replied to csf's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
All good advice from the privious posters. Keep in mind that not all on them have a gear whine and usually those that do will have it in specific gears at certain rpms. With these bikes having been in production as long as they have it shows them to be of a proven design. Larry -
My trike: Falken tires on the rear - 215/55R-16 Dunlop 404 rear up front mounted in the conventional direction. Ragtops trike: Kumho Solus SR 21 P 195/60/15 on back Front- forgot to check

Got Jay Ragtop69gs/Jeanies trike up on stands now as well. Forget just where I place the stands thou. Larry Ok I just checked the stand location while looking at tires. I placed the jack stands under the rearmost section of frame next to the mufflers where the angle iron extends to the body.

Good luck with the Vic. Have a buddy who used to have one and loved it. Had to sell due to a divorce. Larry

50mph Crosswinds. How do you ride? fast? slow? not at all
Carbon_One replied to deepforkriver's topic in Watering Hole
No problems what so ever when riding on 3. Prior to triking the bike I felt that the RSV was a pretty stable ride thou it would still get pushed around a bit with strong crosswinds. This was coming from a 500 lb bike opposed to the Ventures 850 lbs. And sometimes the same in and around semis, especialy on windy day. Now with three solid wheels grounded the bike almost rides as stable as a car. BUT while the bike is solid as a rock I'm not so the rider still gets buffeting on strong cross winds. Gets tiring after a while on the slabs so slowing down a bit helps there or as others here have said seak out slower secondary roads. Larry -
Don't need or want the trailer but will send funds to Dan's PayPal account. Larry

I'll 2nd that as Ponch sent me template drawings for 3 gauge sets but then I never used it as I decided to just keep what I already had. I don't think I have them anymore but will look if you want them Larry
