  1. Congrats on getting a new son-in -law. Maybe he'll become a biker too. May they both have a long and happy marriage. Larry PS: Nice ride ya took too
  2. On Arcs & Sparks drawing I like to do it a bit differently. Accomplishes the same thing thou. My preference is using the switch as a ground for #85 and the for #86 I use a "key on" fused line to activate the relay once the switch grounds the circuit. Doing it this way there no power going thru the switch so they last a long time. I've never had to replace a switch due to arcing of the contacts. Joopster55 here's a suggestion too to insulate that terminal- put some liquid tape on it. You may need a couple coats with drying time between coats but you won't be worrying about the tape coming off and repeating this problem again. Anyhow just a couple tips here for what they're worth. Probably only . Glad you found the problem thou. Larry
  3. Prayers for Mark's family and all his friends who are saddened by his passing. May Meandog ride with us in spirit and help watch over us. God speed Mark. Larry
  4. Well that just sucks as I won't get mine till Sept according to the chart. And here I was thinking spending money for trips and rallys. Silly me. Should of known better, after all it's the goverment. Larry
  5. You will when the goverment gives us that one time economic stimulus check in May. Yea I know it's our money they giving but I'm cool with that too. Larry
  6. Yea I used the brackets that come with the light. Only had to drill out the mounting hole a bit larger is all. You will need slightly longer bolts as well Don't forget to drill and put a screw on the lens cover. Some folks have lost the lens rings. I used the wiring that came with it as well . Used shrink tubing over it all for a neater look. Put a relay under the fairing with a 16 ga fused line from the battery. Triggering the relay with one of the switches from a resvoir switch box. Larry
  7. That could be the one he wants. Only lights I found on a fender. Actually mine are on the forks using the front fender bolts to attach them Larry
  8. Good riding abilities there for sure. Lots and lots of practice time for the whole group. I'm with mmmouse here. No desire to learn any of this stuff either. At my age it takes too long to heal. Nuff said Larry
  9. That's a great write up Gregory. I'm glad you're making the effort now to get the help you need to improve your hearing. Looks like you're on the right path here. As a long time hearing deficient person myself I can relate to what you're going thru. I've worn aids of various types from 19 years of age to present. I just had a Cochlear implant done last fall and still working on getting the unit fine tuned. Anyhow good luck in your quest to get the most out of those hearing aids. Larry
  10. Retired eh? Now you be so busy you'll wonder how anything got done when you worked. Enjoy your time Cindy. Larry
  11. Anytime soon? Inquiring minds here ya know. Larry
  12. Jerry we'll be at Skids WV rally as well. Booked our room last weenkend. Probably see you first at Don's maintance day, if you're there to that is. As to putting down that kickstand when parked That's just plain funny. Too late for me to do that it's off and ain't going back on. Larry
  13. Send me a e-mail at lskeels@wowway.com. Make sure you let me know who you are as e-mail addys don't always match online names. Larry
  14. Thanks for your report Ken. Prayers for Mark, Nancy, and family Larry
  15. Well if you planning on ordering a lift adapter then I can send that sidestand in the same box. It'll save on shipping then Larry
  16. Sorry just messing with ya bit here. BTW If you want that side stand I took off to shorten it up or for a spare if you mess up yours let me know. Yours for cost of shipping. Larry
  17. I just took off the side-stand on my bike. Didn't take off the exhaust or shift linkage. just cut through the bolt with a cit off wheel. BUT Don't do that if you want to put the stand back on. No way can you get that bolt out without removing those parts. I cut it off as I don't need a sidestand anymore. Trikes don't require one ya know. Larry
  18. I had a set of the stock Road Kings on my bike up until I had the accident last year. Didn't relize it till later but they had the catalytic convert in the left one. But they sounded good and not overly loud either. Never noticed any performance issuses either but I did up the main and pilot jets one size prior to doing the R-K conversion. Since I'm now converting the bike to a three wheeler and the R.K.'s were trashed I put the stockers back on. With 1 exception. I shortened them 6" by taking a section out of the middle and rewelding the ends back on. It changed the sound of those quite stockers to more of the Harley sound. I was supprised just how much the sound changed here. Won't help you guys with the two wheels thou. Larry
  19. She's not far from us, maybe a 20-30 minute drive. Yea we're closing in fast on setting records this year with snow acclumination for the winter season. We did get a break here and didn't get as much as predicted. Temps should be low 40's by mid-week so hopefully this'll all be history soon. Larry
  20. Ah another brother of the third wheel. I almost went with a side car rig myself but decided to trike the bike instead. Haven't finished the conversion just yet but it's getting close to being done. I'll post up some pics once it's finished. Larry
  21. OK guys I looked and my ad is still there thou it's on page #2. Here's a link - http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/69/cat/7 Thanks for the heads up ken Larry
  22. Yea that storm system is streaking up thru the Ohio valley now, across Lake Erie and on into Ontario. We'll be catching the western edge of it here in S.E.Michigan. Maybe 2-4" in my area. Up near Squidley he'll be getting as much as 6-8". I'm sure hell like that. Haha NOT. Yea I've had more than enough of winter here too. Been a long snow season this year. So much for global warming hey? Larry
  23. Here's a couple pics of my version of the Wally world lights I mounted. Not sure if it was mentioned without looking back thru the posts here but there have been reports on other fourms of the ring retainers coming off and getting lost. The cure for that is to drill a hole in one of the dimples and put in a sheetmetal screw. Stainless # 6 in size if you can find them at your local hardware store. I did that and put the screw on the bottom where it's less noticable. Larry
  24. Ok Rick got ya there. I did do as you said but rather than getting another piece of pcv piping I just cut some thick walled steel tubing I had here on hand. Then added them to the spacer I got with the kit. Apparently someone forgot to add enough of the sparcer material in my order. Boy talk about a pain getting those caps on and started.!!!!!!! At the least Yamaha could of done was center that protuding nipple for the air valve so you could get even pressure on the cap while staring it in the threads. Can't see where what I did will make any difference opposed to getting a new pcv piping of the proper length so will leave well enough alone for now. Don't want to take the fairing away/apart again. Too much hassle. Larry
  25. Rick I just changed out my stock springs for a set of the Sonic I didn't take any measurements of the sag with the stock set up but did after remembering this post. My findings with the Sonic springs are as follows. My measurements are from the bottom of the fork tube to bottom of the upper cover. Front wheel off the ground, forks fully extended = 15 1/2" Biked lowered with full weight on the forks but not depressed in anyway = 14 3/4". Results indicate that the amount of drop is then 3/4" . Note here that Sonic gives a thick walled plastic tube for a spacer to be cut to length. Now I don't know if they gave me the right length of tube or not but when I cut their tube in half the spacers come about 1" below the top of the forks. When the caps are installed there was only slight pressure on the springs. Lowering the bike to the ground resulted in static sag to be 2". Not acceptable there at all. Adding 1" to the spacers then brought them even to the top of the fork tubes. This game me the results above. Haven't ridden the bike yet as we're still in winter mode here. Oh one other thing I just checked. The 14 3/4" measurement is with 5 lbs of air in both forks. Removing the air resulted in the bike lowering an addition 1/4" to 14 1/2" Hope this of some help for you. Larry
