  1. Reading this has me wondering if this might be the strange 'noise' I have eminating from my center gear area. I guess I'll be tearing down the VR this afternoon while I'm home. I've gotta know what's going on in there. I can't ride it another season constantly wondering what is wrong. Thanks for the heads up...........I'll post my findings when I get them.
  2. Got this instead: If you’re here looking for the new screen cleaner, I’ve regrettably had to remove the file. I had sent it to a few friends, but I’m now getting >400 hits per day on that file alone. The server is a production server, so I really can’t take that much of a performance hit without it affecting my ability to feed my family. I waited as long as I could before pulling the file. Sorry guys.
  3. www.dentsunlimitedusa.com Corner of National & St. Louis right next to the Steak and Shake. The buiding itself has been many things over the years. An indoor tennis court,Liquor distributor, body shop. I've talked to a couple of people who have told me that they attended their senior prom in that building. Crazy! There was damage all over the place. Driving in there were billboards shreaded. Looked like they exploded at the gound. Huge Hwy signs ripped apart and their concrete footings ripped from the ground. http://ozarksfirst.com/media_player.php?media_id=25780 Boo, hope all works out well for your nieces.
  4. Glad I left work early Yesterday and hauled butt home. Springfield,MO got hammered. They were sounding the sirens just as I got onto Hwy. 65 to head back to Arkansas. Twisters,High winds, and baseball sized hail. Ought to be interesting going in to work this morning. They were showing pictures on the news just now of the damage caused by a twister that hit just a few blocks from where I work. There were just storms after storms folowing the same track from NW Arkansas into Missouri and on into Illinois. This just aint supposed to happen in January. But then again...it isn't supposed to be 70* either.
  5. 317.6 Ft I was good at this game last year. Can't quite get get it going this year.
  6. Give me a jingle when you get down here and we'll go for a ride.
  7. I had (have) a similar problem on my '87. Tore the whole thing down, replaced all the bearings & seals. Greased the crap outta everything. New brake pads, new tire. Still clicks. Bothers the people behind me more than it bothers me. After New Years I plan on pulling it all back apart again and trying again. If you figure it out before I do, point me in the right direction.
  8. I think it would be worth paying the bill just to piss off MY neighbors. I may have to spend a couple of hundred for electicity, But I know them well enough to know that they would cough up thousands to a lawyer to get the courts to order me to shut them off. By the time it got through the courts, Christmas would be over. I WIN! I think I'll start planning next years obnoxious christmas light display now.
  9. Ummmm, an '86 Celica is a front wheel drive. Rear end isn't going to do you any good at all. I've got a home made GW trike in the garage, used a narrowed S-10 Rear end. Friends of mine used to love using a narrowed Ford Mustang II rear.
  10. My '02 Goldwing had reverse. I never used it till I triked it out. Once I had that extra width and extra wheels reverse was almost a must. At the same time I had an '01 H-D ElectraGlide trike. When loading both of them into a trailer one had to be backed in. I'll give you 3 guesses which one that was. (HINT: It's the one with reverse). Would reverse be a determining factor in another bike purchase? No.
  11. There used to be a bear that did that in my driveway every day.
  12. yeah, we got one or two twisties around here.
  13. depends on the primer. One of the primers I use are 4:1 ratio, while another is 2:1, while another is 3:1. What specific primer are you referring to?
  14. Put me down for two. I'll snail mail you a MO this weekend.
  15. Now that looks like fun......But I know my luck and I would end up like this guy http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=8bd6139b92
  16. You know, every once in a while people actually DO bring their stuff into a svc dept damaged and then complain about existing damage when they pick it up, pointing blame at the techs who did the work. Last week I had my fill of them. (must been a full moon) I am a paint/body tech of 18 years. I work on Porsches,Audis,BMWs,Ferrarris, you name it. Last week I had some dipsh*t in a mustang come in to get some gouges fixed in his bumper cover. He dropped it off, I put the car on the lift and removed the bumper cover. The car stayed on the lift for 2 days while I repaired, painted, and reinstalled the cover. Then yesterday, said jacka** comes back swearing up and down that I put a scratch in his passenger door while I had the car. He also swears up and down that I must have taken his car for a joyride.(he speculates the scratch MAY have happened during the joyride) He says "I wrote down the mileage when I dropped the car off and checked it when I picked it up, There are 45.3 extra miles on the car". BS! That was just one. There were others. EVERY one of them trying to blame us for preexisting damage on their cars. From worn out electric lock solenoids to an oil leak. It never ends! Don't be too pissed that the service manager said he wanted to "look into it". I'm sure he gets his fill of people pointing their fingers at 'his' techs trying to get existing damage fixed for free. It has reached the point where I do a checklist BEFORE I even pull the cars into the shop anymore, noting any 'extra' damage not on the estimate scheduled for repair. I check all lights, guages, tires, etc. Then I take digi photos of anything not being repaired on the car. Those photos now include the odometer. This is simply to cover my butt because of people trying to get something for nothing.....at MY expense.
  17. There is a very nice 4bd/2ba home bordering my place that belonged to a friend of mine before the current owner bought it. Current owner bought it, moved in for 6 months and moved out. It has been for sale for 2.5 years now. The price isn't unreasonable, just so many other new homes sitting for sale. Not everyone wants a 7yr house. They are having an open house on Sunday and i am thinking I may actually make an offer on the house. I'm hoping that after 2.5 years sitting vacant he is ready to get rid of it. I know what he paid for it,what he has done to it, and how long it's been empty. Maybe I can bargain with him.
  18. It won't work. My HD has no turn signals so I have to use hand signals. Lots of cagers wave (even though I'm not waving...I'm signalling)back to me right before they nearly run me over.
  19. Let's not forget about those people that pass you on a dry, clear day and then insist on pumping 3 gallons of washer fluid onto their windshield and over the roof. Yeah, thanks folks. I really needed that. Not as bad on my VR because of the windshield, but when I'm on my Harley all i get is a facefull of washer fluid.(no windshield)
  20. He's known it all along, he was just too embarrased to admit it after buying a 2Gen.
  21. Never had a problem at a motel, but the wife and I were on a ride in cooler weather and went to a Village Inn for lunch. Of course we show up in our leathers (it was cold). 5 minutes at the 'Wait to be seated' podium.Plenty of employees looking at us, but nobody wants to seat us. In walks a family of 3 looking like they just came from court (all gussied up) and everyone snaps to and they are shown to their seat. An older woman comes up and appoligizes to us for the other woman ignoring us and seats us. Turns out she was our waitress as well. She gave us the best service I had ever had at a restaurant. I have not been to a Village Inn since.
  22. The one on my FXR fell off after some 5 yrs of being there, just minutes later I came to an intersection and my rear brakes were gone. The bolt that held both the bell and the brake pedal came out. Darned little gremlins wanted that bell real bad. Don't have one on either bike now.
  23. Me too, & I've ruled out the tire. This weekend I'm going to tear it all apart again and see if I missed anything. I can hear the tire.....but that aint it.
  24. This may seem a little 'out there'. But I have a sneaky suspicion about this. On the way to the E.S. ride Bigin said he heard a noise. We swapped bikes and I heard it too. So we know there was a noise. After the ride, on the centerstand in 4th gear I could hear something that wasn't 'right'. So I opted to tear down the rear end, replace all the bearing and seals in the hub, grease the crap out of everything, flush out the diff and replace the gear oil,and while I was at it, replace that Continental showing me its belts. Fast forward a couple of weeks. (I had guests from out of state & didn't work on the bike much while I had company) Bigin and I head out for a quick ride to see if the noise is there, or if I got rid of it. The general consensus was that there was a noise, but it didn't sound like the same noise. Somehow it had changed. We both heard it and confirmed it. It wasn't the same noise. I have been trying my darndest to duplicate the sound in my shop building so I can track it down. I CAN NOT make this sound come back at any rpm in any gear on the centerstand. Riding down the road I can pull in the clutch and hear it though. Now, fast forward to today. I had a blowout on my car and had to buy a new tire. The damndest thing happened. I was driving down the street with the window down, made a left turn and heard THE SAME NOISE! So, would someone out there like to tell me that the new Dunlop E3 is a noisy tire and that I've been chasing a 'normal' noise? Or am I just grasping at straws here?
