  9. if you turn the idle air screw 1/4 turn COUNTER CLOCKWISE, are you A: increasing the amount of air flow into the carb? or B: are you increasing the amount of fuel, into the carb? i never have had a good explanation, as to what i was really increasing/decreasing. i figured , now is a good time to find out BEFORE i start monkeying around with them. thanks in advance. :confused24: just jt
  10. if you 'll look real close at the left side of the "machinery", you will see several "wrenches", were welded in place . just for good measure. old "rube", didn't forget anything! lol just jt
  11. "scrubbing bubbles" bathroom cleaner, works great. just jt
  12. after studying this "machine" really closely, i have determined it's origin. it is home made, from odd parts and pieces of old cultivators, plows, maybe a washing machine or two, and apiece of trace chain. hand crafted by "rube goldberg"! lol just jt
  13. same thing happened to me , a while back. i did it to myself! i ran the "ccleaner", without first selecting what i DIDN'T want to remove. never did find any of my stored bookmarks. just jt
  14. heather. that kinda reminds me of my first gen! lol just jt
  15. for "do-it-yourselfers". who need drawings to work off of, try: sketch up.by google and it's free! not as intimidating as "auto-cad", or "solid works", and does a pretty fair job. just jt
  16. i see that you "ain't riding a brand new bike", so i guess i can safely assume, Doug, that your lottery tickets were DUDS! lol missed seeing you yesterday in refugio. guess i'll look at you in houston! just jt
  17. you may have overfilled your clutch reservoir. shouldn't show more than a little above center line on your sight glass. just jt
  18. lon, did you replace the gaskets, with yamaha oem's, or did you "make your own". sounds like a clearance/tolerance problem to me. what kind of BEEFING UP", did you have done. might have overdone it. there isn't a lot of FREE space. inside that cover, could be binding on your shifter repair. maybe not. just jt
  19. another "tangent" here. it might be , that the tubes were cut short,/poorly fitted.the robotic welder, wouldn't see this , and would just weld it like it fit up into the jig. if the weld didn't penetrate both pieces, then the shorter part, would break below the weld. as you see in the pictures. i may be all wet here, but it is something to explore. just jt
  20. just had dinner, with "TXVENTURE", and his bride. i think squid, might remember them. we had a very good meet and eat, "all, two, both of us." don and linda are staying in victoria tonight, then going to refugio, in the a.m. if i didn't know better, i'd say, don, wants to be "just like THE AMBASSADOR". has a decent looking 'mkII, '87. gonna look a little better now though. i made him some "polished stainless" side louver replacements.gonna look really sharp. i think. just jt
  21. David. somewhere in the distant , foggy past, someone on here, said the manifold "boots", are aluminum ,with a rubber coating. cracks can't go all the way through. just jt

  23. woz! i have mt left side cover off at present, waiting on gaskets and 3 bolts. my starter clutch went bad, BECAUSE, two of the three bolts, that hold it in place, had backed out and were "finger tight. in fact, they couldn't back out any further, because they were RUBBING/DRAGING, on the housing. this mis-alignment, caused the starter clutch disk , to crack, all the way through, in two places.i have all of this posted in an older thread, somewhere about three weeks ago. click on "hipshot", and do a search for all posts started by me. there are pictures that help explain. just jt
  24. thanks , mike! you made my day! today , ain't been a good one, so your "ray of sunshine", sure picked up my spirits! hope you have a good day tomorrow, and get to ride, before the storms hit ya! just jt:)
