  1. My wife says that's the bikes way of telling me to lose some weight.
  2. I'm looking to order a set of speed bleeders for my 2nd Gen. Is the clutch bleed screw the same size as the brake bleed screws? And are the brake bleed screws M8X1.25"? I could, I suppose, pull them and compare them but I would like to only have to pull them once...this winter:)
  3. I don't see the problem with the pick-up. Just find a nice culverted driveway, drive the truck in to the ditch and back-up perpendicular to the culvert. Drive the bike right on to the truck. That is what we do. Slick, easy...and takes no time at all:)
  4. I was trying to get someone to do the four corners with me next year. Bangor, Miami, San Diego and Seattle. Couldn't find any takers:crying:. Oh well, maybe some other year:scratchchin:
  5. 42 Front 50 Rear Anything less than 42 in the front and my front end gets very squirrelly in turns. Of course...YMMV Mike
  6. You can count me in ... but it depends on the dates. There is a Venturers Ride In in Spearfish on July 6-10 we are planning on attending. So the long weekend in July is out for me. I would also like to try to make the VWV. So, I guess I would like to see this ride on the Labour Day weekend. Just my 2 cents. Mike
  7. I am heading out on a big trip in the next few weeks and I was wondering if anyone knows of a large Yamaha/Star dealer that carries a lot of accessories and apparel in the store. Our local dealers only carry a few t-shirts and hats and have to order-in anything that you want to see. I would like to actually see the accessories and apparel in-store. We will be traveling east through the upper States (Montana to Maine) and back west through Canada. TIA
  8. Does my local Shell station sell JP5:whistling:
  9. Thanks for the info but we are happy with our set-up now. I'm glad Ed recognized he had a problem and has fixed it. We really like his speakers and mic as compared to others we tried. I'm sure all of you buying them through this group buy will be happy with them too!
  10. We get em up here on the prairies too. This little rattler was under the smoker's bench one day at work. Nice little surprise:)
  11. That's all well and good but that isn't the cable that broke on me three times. It is the flat wire in the upper (in helmet) cable that breaks. Between the connector and the 3M locking thingy. The wires pull out of the connector that you plug the bottom curly wire connector. And I usually tried not to put my helmet down on the bottom but I got tired of buffing all the scratches out of the shell everytime I went to put my helmet on.
  12. My wife and I use Edsets and both helmet cords have broken more than once. The problem occurs from setting your helmet down with the upper cord connector between the helmet and whatever you place it on. The wires break at the connector or pull out of the connector. Ed replaced mine the first time it broke no questions asked. The second time mine broke (about two months later) I cut the connectors off upper and lower cords and soldered the wires together. I then epoxied the upper wires to the inside of my helmet shell under the padding. I still have the modular capabilities. I had to do the same to my wife's helmet as her mic wires went bad at the upper connector. We actually like this set-up better than with the connectors. We have the coiled cord hanging from our helmets all the time but that is not a problem as we will use them everytime we are on the bike anyway. All this being said, we love the sound quality if our Edsets and would recommend them to anyone. If you have to do this mod (I think of it as an upgrade) it is not hard to do and it will eliminate any future wire breaking/pulling-out-of -the -connector problems. just my 2 cents Mike
  13. Yeah, that's how I do it too. I have all the Zumo levels set to 100% and I control the volume with the bikes audio control. When I use my mp3 player (not mp3s on the Zumo) I set its volume at 100% also. I think the audio out of the Zumo is not as strong as my mp3 player or the bikes FM radio. I posted this on the other Venture forum and someone suggested an additional inline booster. Maybe I'll try that. Thanks all for your input.
  14. Have any of you that have a Zumo 550 noticed a drop in volume when listening to mp3 or XM thru the Zumo? When I am listening to FM or to my mp3 player I usually have my volume set at 17-18 but if I switch to the Zumo and listen to mp3s or XM I have to turn the volume up to 27-28 to get the same sound level. Is this normal:confused07:
  15. Although I have had problems with accessories such as poor output and hard to adjust driving lights, ill fitting bag rails and leaking trunk rack; I would like Yamaha to address the mechanical/design problems inherent with the current model before they look at things like accessories. Things like: the whine and chirp the broken fairing, chrome strip, and windshield tabs the poorly designed, prone to fail rear shock the rear brakes poor low speed handlingjust to name a few need to be addressed. But other than that I LOVE MY VENTURE
  16. Saw this done once on a Cat Payloader that had a tire deflate after hitting a tree stump. VERY scary:no-no-no:
  17. I too just got the lift lift adapter and absolutly love it. I went ahead and cut 2" off each leg and welded 300 lb casters to each foot. Now I can wheel and spin the bike around in the garage and shove it in to the corner with ease. Thanks Carbon One for a great product!
  18. Has anyone installed their Garmin GXM-30 under their front fairing? Results?
  19. Sure looks FRESH up there. You can have it...I sure don't want NONE_OF_IT.
  20. I just purchased and installed H7616 passing lamps on my bike. I like the clean look of the clear lenses but they don't look right with the stock headlight. I have searched for a headlight (sealed beam) with a clear lens but can't find one. Does anyone know of one? I know if I find one I have to break out the original one and goop in the new. That is not a problem.
  21. I agree...buy a map to your local GPS store. :rotf:
  22. Thanks All. I will check my VIN with my dealer tomorrow.
  23. Does anyone know where to go to view Yamaha's TSB's? I heard there is one for the 2007 head bolts not being torqued correctly. Anyone else heard of this?
  24. Looks like your going to need some of duct tape:whistling:
