  1. I have an '07 MRSV. Removed the AIS years ago. Was wondering if I can plug all 4 vacuum ports on the carb air intake tubes. These are the ports that you hook-up the carb sync tubes to when balancing the carbs. I have read you can possibly hook the two vacuum ports together on each side of the bike to get better low end performance. Has anyone done this? If so what were the results? Thks
  2. Rougeray, PM me your email address and I'll shoot you a couple of files that may help your search. I can't attach files to emails or threads on this forum. Mike
  3. Brian, Are you putting those on your Venture or John Deere?
  4. Have you tried posting on a Harley forum? I hear they are used to dealing with oil leaks.
  5. Seaking, Where did you find the 4.5" LED driving lights?
  6. Seems to me you are a tad overdressed for that high of a temperature.
  7. Have you checked out the Odyssey battery? Available at Battery Direct for just over $100. http://www.odysseyfactory.com/index.html Mike
  8. I would have to wear my bi-focals upside down to see what's behind me. But then I wouldn't be able to see what's in front of me. Do they make tri-focals with reading lens on the top and bottom and just glass in the middle:confused07:
  9. I've had the original 404s, two sets of Avons, now the Elite 3's. Of the 3 I much prefer the Elite 3's. They just feel more solid under me. YMMV
  10. We are planning to go to the Durango R.I. also. And we are thinking hard about going to the Kootney R.I. Definately going to SLC in May for the World Superbike Races again. Went last year and had a great time. Brian, I'll see you at the Alberta/Sask M&E in June. I've been trying to get BillM30 to commit to Durango. Maybe we can persuade them at the Kootney R.I.. I've also invited them to the Alberta/Sask M&E but haven't heard back from them yet. Waiting to get a firm destination for the M&E before I really start to pester them:hihi:. Anyway, SilverT if I don't get to meet you at Kruzin in the Kootney's matbe we'll see you in Durango.
  11. I pay $662, full coverage through Jevco.
  12. Get your Nikes on ...the Mothership is coming:hihi:
  13. Many moons ago a buddy of mine was riding a CB400 in to the ferry at Cape Tormintine when a seagull hit him (or he hit it) square in the face. I was right behind him. He let go of the handlebars and and came off the back of the bike. The funny thing was is that he didn't change his position at all. That is, when he hit the ground he was in the same position as if he were still riding. We think he was knocked out from the bird strike. He wasn't hurt (much) as we were only going about 30 mph. The bike wobbled on for about 100 yds then fell over.
  14. I did read your answer but I was answering Wizards question. It shouldn't be any harder on the stator to run the cooler than to run electric clothing...which many of us do. You (and others) have offered up many other reasons not to use these coolers that make complete and total sense. That is why I don't use a thermoelectric cooler after I posed this question last year and received the same responses.
  15. If heated gloves/vests/pants draw 4+ amps then why can't a cooler?
  16. Went out to go for a ride today and found my headlight was out. High beam worked ok. I felt for the plug up beside the headlight adjuster knob to see if it had come loose (again). It was tight. I then pulled the fairing off and then the headlight bracket and found that the plug was completely melted. The metal clips were still plugged on to the bulb but the plastic was a molten ball of plastic. I checked the circuit with a spare bulb I had and everything still worked. So the Silverstar bulb I put in a year ago had blown. I wonder if the Silverstar produces too much heat or was there a bad connection causing the heat? Don't know if I should put another Silverstar in or go back to the stock bulb...after I change the plug of course. Whatcha all think?
  17. Just got back from a 14 hour ride from Salt Lake City to Medicine Hat, Alberta. My temperature gauge cycled from 210 to 230 constantly. It took about 30 seconds to go from 210 to 230. Then about 10 seconds to go from 230 back to 210 as the thermostat opened. I don't think the numbers are accurate (as stated above what do you expect from a $20 gauge) but it did show a definate cycle. FWIW
  18. Thanks Brewser23. Looks like it should fit ok.
  19. When I travel without the wife I use earbuds and a shorty helmet. I really like SkullCandy earbuds. Some models are noise cancelling and some models have a volume adjustment in the wires near the "Y". I made an adapter from an old lower J&M cable and a 1/8" earphone jack so that I can plug into the connector on the gas tank and plug in my earbuds. This way I can listen to XM and mp3 from the Zumo or the radio from the bike if I choose.
  20. Do you have any pics of it on your bike? Hate to order it without seeing it on a bike. Thks Mike
  21. Bought my Zumo 550 and XM antenna from GPScity in Calgary. Nice people...good service. I don't subscribe to the weather or traffic so I can't you out there. Out here on the flat land you can see the weather and traffic coming for days before it gets here. I use XM all the time tho. Love it.
  22. Thanks for the reply. Did you have to glue the outer ring on to the tank? I wonder if the outer ring will fit in the curve of the switch cover on the Venture?
  23. Garmin had me try that the first time mine failed. It did not work for me. They also had me press on the screen corners while starting up. That didn't work either. Had to pull battery to reset mine.
