I understand the reasoning for taking the discs off...but I wonder about the balance now. I would think those parts need to stay put for a proper running balance. Others....is there not a circlip on that shaft by the pumpkin?

I have a problem hanging on to my bikes! Probably much to the dismay of those fellas who have sold theirs to me at great deals! For that gents I do apologize right now. First gen bought from Boo...kept her for three years (sold it in the fourth year) beautiful blue 89. 1st 2nd gen bought from Midnight Spook in Atlanta region...beautiful 05 midnight with a piggyback trailer. Still have her but she is going this spring after two years. Again sorry. Trailer stays! Current newest to me is the 07 two tone blue which is gonna have to do for awhile. Always loved the 2nd gen after driving one and couldnt afford it so I got the 1st gen. Then...... My very first was a 83 Royal I got in 83 and kept that for 2 years before getting hurt and had to sell it.

Courtney lives! Good to see you are still hanging around young lady!

Here is what I know for sure. He is alive and well. We got a message on Marilyns facebook that says he just got his computer working but it is unreliable. He is doing good and his strong will is his friend. There is a phone number there that I have not received an answer to. It is the same as the one listed in his profile, I know its not Hazels. We, Marilyn, Gord and Laura and myself are planning to head out there next week-end to see him. We will leave Brandon noonish Sat and return home Sunday.

Oil Filter Question
sarges46 replied to Schlepporello's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thats what I ended up doing as well.....cheaper and easier oil changes. Easier to get filters as well with the adaptor. -
Me too, I would camp again. It was miserable when we were there...unexpectantly so, rained nearly everyday and then woke up to snow one day. We were in a tent. still...there is nothing like poking your head out the door and seeing the beauty of the place. I've been through and to Banff many times on day stops.....it is a great city to stroll around in. The weather is usually not that bad. We just got unlucky that time. BTW...I have never seen a grizzly in the wild. Even got up early to ride to Lake Louise on the old highway....still didnt see one.

Oh, and if hiking and dont have a whistle....dont dont dont whistle with your mouth! Apparently our whistler sounds alot like a marmot whistle and they are a favorite light snack for the grizzly. We did that ....thought we were real cool whistling along and hearing others whistling along as well. We met a couple along the path and they asked if we were whistling...yeppers we said....well dont they laughed. Why not we asked, we hear lots of "people" whistling along with us. Those are marmots they said and the bears love marmots!

I'm sorry, but I cant remember which hotel it was we stayed in a couple years ago on a spring ski trip. But you can almost take it to the bank that most are good, some are top of the line. You will pay at least 100 bucks a night. Check the site I posted in the other thread that links you to Banff (city) it should have an area for accomadations. Giving up on camping are ya? lol.

I am scared of bears too! The bears are only a problem sometimes. That is usually because someone left food open and inside. The park people work very hard to protect the animals and the people by doing their best to keep the critters out of the people areas. The problem is is that Banff is right in the middle of a major migratory route. Hotels are expensive. Two days is probably not enough to see it all. And you should drive up to Lake Louise while there. We camped in Banff a few years back. Nice but not the cheapest. Banff is nice but not cheap enough for the average Canadian family in my opinion...its geared for the rich tourists. It is also a place each of us should visit if I make any sense at all! http://www.banff.ca/ http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/ab/banff/index_E.asp

Oil Filter Question
sarges46 replied to Schlepporello's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You are right Randy...we pay through the nose for bike stuff here. I do almost all of my buying from a US dealer of some sort. Even with extra shipping and sometimes a charge at the border...it comes out cheaper than home. Whenever we head south for a trip we pick up small things....seafoam...filters...oil. Big things I ship to Russell if I have the time to wait for them. He visits his family up this way and I usually meet him for food and a visit and exchange of parts. There is also a business just south of the "gate" at the border that I can ship stuff to if in a hurry and I can drive down to get it. Our next purchase will be a manual tire changer...the only shop in town that changes tires charges us around a 100 bucks for a set. That is the cost of the changer itself! Sorry to highjack the thread! -
Oil Filter Question
sarges46 replied to Schlepporello's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The filter box should say CH6002. I bought mine at Canadian Tire...which wont do you much good! It was still pricy 11 bucks but was the right one. try walmart. The US stores have lots of good stuff and a great price. I bought 6- 2nd gen filters (supertech I think) for around 1.99 each! Oil Filter Question

Well, I remember the new filter I bought had a rubber ring come with it. -
Does the cruise engage at all? Then shut off while moving? If so maybe the levers are loose...any movement in them can shut the cruise down. The light I know nothing about sorry.

Thats such a shame. Our thoughts and prayers for his family and friends.

The best I could do was send a email well wish to him in the hospital. I also included the fact that I had lost Hazel's cell phone number. I was hoping the get a call or something but havent heard anything. I called the hospital a couple days ago and they said he was doing ok...thats all they would give me.

Night riding on the interstates -- what's the big deal?
sarges46 replied to Dave77459's topic in Watering Hole
There have been some really nice rides at night in the past. There wont be anymore for me. I have had way to many close encounters with deer. For some reason I seem to find them and it scares the heck out of me. -
Blue....blue...blue....I am a little partial to blue! Next would be a nice grey or two tone grey. The 88 white is a very nice color scheme.

Congrats you guys! This was a fun thread...the suspense, the drama....last thing I would have thought of....then again I thought you was an old fart like me.

Where are you planning to travel this summer?
sarges46 replied to Yama Mama's topic in Watering Hole
The biggest meet we are planning is to Arkansas then over to the Dragon meet if I can get the time off for that. Ark. for sure. Other short road trips around the area and maybe some meet and eats with the Winnipeg crew and possibly something with the Sask. crew. Pork in the Pines in Sept. -
Those are the same thing Marilyn has on her bike. They have gone up by 50 bucks since I got hers. They are a cats meow for her Vstar. We rigged them up very slightly differant than the instructions and can remove them in a few seconds. Alone without a passenger they look kind of funny....thats why we wanted them to come off and on easy. Good place to deal with.

I did hear you about the wife losing her job....but why not buy one of those small harbour freight trailers to haul your stuff around in. They are very cheap and seem to pull good from the reports others have submitted. Having a small cargo trailer will sure make your camping life much nicer not to mention safer without a overloaded bike. Even the piggybacker trailer is very reasonable and sharp for the money. ( I have the xl one). If it was just you riding we could send you to e-fishin-c for tips on how to get everything from fishing poles to tents strapped or hung on to the bike!

Great to work with. I bought mine direct from them as well. It took a week to get here. Best deal around and sure makes it cheaper than the stealer asking 90 bucks for each sync.....and we're never sure if they've done it right. (Before Russell gets in here, my wife Marilyn does most of the carb tuning around here!)
