here's a question i dont think i've read and if so please forgive me or you can thump my head in june at maint day.called jake wilson before i ordered my 150/90-15(80h)avon venom am42 rear black wall tire to get date off of tire and they told me its from20 09 09 which i figure is sept-09 2009 which puts it at being a year and a half old already,didnt ask if it was a controled temp warehouse but what is the oldest tire (date) i should consider????

I'm going to give Dynabeads a try when I put on my new rubber. Does any one know what the amount is that goes in each tire. What I've found so far is 1oz in the front and 2oz in the rear. Does this sound right.

Well, my first DS tire finally wore down and I'm continuing to ride the DarkSide. 19000 miles. Friday when I took my tire to get mounted the guy at the shop told me it was illegal to mount CTs on motorcycles. I asked to see the law. He shut up. First they took the old tire off, got the new one on the rim. He didnt clean the gunk off and used hardly any lube. I specifically told him do NOT go about 80psi and to inflate slowly. He proceeded to tell me he was the mechanic. Well he inflated it to 60 and let the air out, then staddled the tire bouncing it as another mechanic inflated it to somewhere between 80-100 psi and BOOM, the tire blew. We were all in the shop and I checked to make sure they were ok. Fortunately they were. The guy started cussing at me like I made it blow. I took my rim and went out bought another DS tire and took it to another shop. He cleaned the rim, lubed it up real good and inflated to 60psi 3 times and then to 65psi and set it in front of a heater and it seated with no problem. So after all said and done my 2nd DS tire ended up costing just as much as a MC tire. Tire #1 $62.00 Tire #2 $83.00 Shop#1 $50.00 (Didn't feel like arguing considering my bike was on the rack) Shop#2 $25.00 (mounting the tire on the rim) Total $220.00

Four questions. Where's the best place to get one? What size do I need? 2007 second gen. Whats the best MC front tire to use with the Kumho? (I like the dunlop 404) or will the dunlop elite II or III going to get me that much better milage? I have 3/16 tread left on the Dunlop 404 rear and 5/32 on a Dunlop 404 front. Am heading to Florida in April to watch the launch... about a 3000 mi ride down and back... So don't think they are gonna make it the whole way...

I ride a 2008 RSTD with a Hannigan side car. I had the final drive swapped out (RMSportmax using VMAX gearing), and a Kumho rear tire installed last week. Went for my first ride Saturday. The bike rides great, but I'm now hearing a noise from the rear of the bike. It sounds like a tire noise but I'm not sure.....I want to make sure it's not the final drive. Question for those that have Kumho rear tires installed, do they sound different than standard tires? Secondly, for those that have swapped out final drives, anybody had a similar issue? When I bought my 2nd Gen the PO gave me an extra front tire. He changed it out before he headed out for a 2000 mile trip on the bike. It looks like it as about 2/3 tread left and is in great shape. I just want to get it out of my garage. I really don't want to try to ship it, but if anybody's close, they can have it. Just let me know.

Put the dyna beads in last week had to break the beads on the tires due to the TPS system not able to use the valve stem. The cost $65 not bad had 3000 miles on the tires hope to get better wear and mileage out of them. I am getting a better ride a lot less wobble at low speeds with no vibrations. I would recommend this on new tire installations to absorb the cost of re braking the beads, if you don't have TPS there easy to put in threw the valve stem. Next tire change i will be going to the darkside with beads.

I found some past articles in the various forums about these tiny beads inside the tire to smooth out the balancing, however they are a couple of year old information.. Has anyone been running with these beads in their tires repeatedly now for a few years who could let us know how's it been working out? Worth the while, make any difference? Cheers

partly sunny and 50F today. Supposed to be in the teens with s**w starting tomarrow. So, i'll be taking the three running bikes alternately out for a run today. I've been expecting the rear tire on the RSV MM to need changing ever since I came back from Potato Creek, but it hasn't quite got there yet. I have a new one waiting to go on.

I have a friend that has only lived in PA for a little over a year. He likes to tell stories sometimes. This past weekend he told me that in PA if you get a flat tire on your car or truck, you have to call a Tow Truck. He says that you are not allowed to change your own tire alongside the road. Then he tells me that you aren't allowed to wash your car at your own house. He said he got a ticket for washing his car in his driveway before work. He said if you want your car cleaned, you have to take it to a car wash. This all sounds ridiculous, but there ARE some strange laws out there. So, was he telling me a story?

I asked my local Stealer to check on the Dunlop Elite 3' for my 09' venture, they said that Elite 3's didn't have size for the Venture. So is there a different size listed for that tire, for the Venture?? What am I missing ? besides the usual IQ stuff. My Factory Rear tire is done at 6200 miles,, I keep it at correct press, etc... no burnouts Thanks Vern

Hi, I read the oil filter cross reference sheet on the technical link and was wondering if anyone from Canada used a Canadian Tire (Motormaster) oil filter and what the number is? I was in Canadian Tire this evening and there were no Fram filters that fit my 2004 RSV. Thank you in advance. -
I come here tonight a bit humbled. When my bike blew out the clutch in sept. I was a bit distrout. Was thinking about parting it out.Now its setting in my driveway repaired. Allit needs is a new tire on the rear to get me up and going. This is where the thnk you's come in. All of these are in no particular order. To those who pitched in and made it monetarily possible I am gratefull. I dont know who you are as Aamcotrans (Rob) will not tell me who you are.Rob you started this whole thing and Im gratefull. To( Jeff) muffinman who took the time to help diagnose it and finally talk me into bringing the bike to him so he could fix it, and also finding the parts needed for a 1/3 of the price for new. And to (Earl) skydoc for the constant calls and pm's talking me out of parting the bike. I was ready to do tis to get the money to buy something new. Now I can ride again just need to get a new tire so I can ride further than my own neighberhood. Again many thanks to all who were involved . I dont know who you all are so if I forget someone please dont be upset. I have my ideas who all helped but they didnt want to be brought out into the open. On our way down to George and Bobbie's friday traveling down 95 Riderduke got a flat. We were at mile post 36 literally right at the marker. So he calls his insurance co progressive to get a tow truck Jeff called to find a dealer close by and find out what time they closed. Tow truck says it'll be there at 5:45 dealer closes at 5:30. Jeff and I rode to the dealer which was off exit 22 and about 1 1/2 miles down the street. Figured we could get the tire and worse case we'd already called Steve and he said he could get a trailer to get the bike. So We get to the dealer buy the tire and call David tow truck is suppose to be there shortly. Jeff leaves me at the dealer and heads back to help get the bike on the flat bed. This was 5 the tow truck didn't get there when they said and the bike finally got to the dealer about 7. By that time I was locked up inside the dealership still waiting. The guys were great and the mechanic got the tire changed and we were on our way. Oh and for future reference if ya break down here in NC don't let them call Brownies tow truck service. Since we hear so many terrible things about dealers thought it would be nice to let you know about a good one. We always have had great dealings with our local shop, nice to know we have two good dealers in the state. Margaret

pulled the rear end and lubed everything from hub to drive shaft with moly paste. also got a new rear tire and replaced brake pads. I have put several hundred miles on since the work. Last night the wife and i were arriving at home when i noticed a "creak" somewhere in the rear end. It goes with the rotation of tire or shaft. Any thoughts? Did I miss something? Thanks for the help.

Time to install a new front tire! Where is the best deal now for Avon Cobra's? Also plan on chaning the fork oil and adjusting the steering Head bearings. Could use some input there! Any thoughts on that? I know there was a how to write up but cannot find it?! What else should I be doing while I have this all apart? THANKS ALL!!

well just finished the rear brakes getting ready to change out the final drive oil when lo and behold i find this(i know better to find at home that on the road)http://www.venturerider.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=800&pictureid=5051 the problem is the tire is already cupping has fairly good tread but riding two up with gear to tybee island will a plug be enough or not? dont have the money for a new tire, and yes when i pulled it out air started pouring out so i put back in until i plug it. would like some feed back, thanks

I picked it up at 1:00 PM and have it at the house. I have taken pictures, but someone needs to remind me how to show them on a post. Exceptionally clean '89 1100 with 11,000 or so miles and great tire. I saw it last week while in Marion NC and made the deal this morning. Now how about some help with where to get engine gaurds and how to post the pix.

Is there anyone out there on the south side of Atlanta with a tire changer? I've got my rear wheel off my 96 RSTC and am looking to swap out the tires. I am thinking of buying a tire changer but would really like to get back on the road sooner. I can afford to pay a little bit but not what the shops around here want. If you can help me or if you know someone that can do it at a reasonable rate could you let me know. Thanks Bob

My rear Avon Venom is about shot, and I came across the Dunlop MU90 for a better price. I just want to make sure that the correct size is an MU90B16 78H, part # 4079-95, to fit my MK I 84 VR. Comments about those of you currently using this tire appreciated.... -

I have MT 90 B 16 wide white walls Avon Venoms on my 2000 MM Venture. Need to get new tires. I know that some guys use the more narrow tires than the spec. My previous bike was a Gen 1 with Metzler 880s. I thought that thing handled great. I love the look of this bike but it has never felt like it handled as well. What is the performance difference between the more narrow tire vs the stock tire? I have heard many people saying great things about these Venoms. My tire shop said they dont make the rear any more. Is that accurate? Thanks, Bob
