  1. I challenge Bongobobny! I will not post for an entire week on the site. This is not including Chat, though I have to keep it going cause mini will be out of town. So from now until the following Thursday morning I will not post or even log into the site. How is that Bob? I have plenty of wine, bourbon and beer stocked up, a baby blanket I am cross stitching, a book to read, some DVD's, presents to wrap, and ok heck I could even talk to Moped. My dog Cooper will be so excited. So what do you think? Can I do it? In some areas it is called rehab! Yama Mama
  2. Ran the Natchez Trace from Columbia to Nashville on Sunday. Saw 4, 2nd Gen Ventures. Anyone from this site??? They were all heading south...
  3. In a way, I feel a little bit like Eck. In May the company I was working for decided to shut down. My wife and I were able to make arrangements to start our own data collection call center so we were able to keep ourselves and 20 others employed. We've just started a website and posted the pics from our Halloween get together. If you would like to see the pic or are just willing to visit the site to help build relevance in the search engines, please click here! The pics are large so they take just a minute to display. Thanks! Dave PS. I kept the pics of my wife as a Harley Babe private....
  4. i recently joined the PGR and was wondering what the normal dress attire is when you ride the event. when you receive an email notice of an upcoming event, do you just show up at the appointed place and time or do you notify someone? i've looked on the PGR site and didn't really find any answers. thanks to any & all who have input.
  5. I can do a ride of 60 or 140 miles, park my 86 VR in the garage, not start her for about 2 or 3 days, then have a small puddle of about 3-4 drips. Found fluid on TOP of the bottom hose, but not on the ring coming out of the radiator; (don't know what to call THAT part; someone will probably suggest penis! LOL). Checked resovoure, and it was up ok. Ran in the normal heat range from FC to Estes Park and back, and no drip after the ride or 6 hrs later. Do I have a pressure problem, or something? Doubt it is the radiator, as I think Squidley serviced it before Lonna let him surrender her (the bike of course) to me in 06. Thanks for any wisdom! LOL. And wow, what a site this is, thanks to all of you. Jack Tharp Fort Collins, CO aka DePreach: weddings, outside and motorcycle ones prerred! Funerals if needed; and NO FUNDI HERE, just a guy with a well centered faith. JZ And I love to ride in any direction except down, and I'm not ready to go straight up yet!
  6. I have a 1996 Royal Star and am getting some popping on deceleration. I want to set the mixture screws and have been reading some posts on the site. I read the write up by Goose and the 3 methods he knows. I am familiar with the "drop idle method" but I think it requires a tachometer that can read in 50 rpm increments, which I don't have. My question is... Has anybody tried setting the mixture screws using a vacuum guage and adjusting for maximum vacuum like we used to do on automobile carburators ? Also, do I sync the carbs and then adjust mixture or adjust and then sync ? Enjoying the site, lots of good information and knowledgable people. Thanks Doug
  7. I'll be bringing home a few souveniors from the mountains. We explored today a geological find at a construction site in the mountains of West Virginia. We were at about 2500 ft above sea level and found fossilized rock formations with sea shells at the dig site. Guess like they say at one time we were underwater.I guess the beach is closer then you think.
  8. I was just checking out the yamaha web site and came across a new pic of an 03 RSV in the pic tour section. Custom paint, very nice!
  9. Freebird, is there some sort of parts cross reference we could post up on this site as a tool for researching common parts between bikes?
  10. I,ve been on this sight for along while now and I do alot of surfing on this site... So here is the question .....The term darkside... whats it mean Ron:cool10:
  11. So what happens when the site membership reaches 10,000? I would think that would be some kind of a record.
  12. Hello to all. My name is Denny and I have been watching the most impressive forum site I have seen in a long time, congrats to all. I lucked out and bought my first Yamaha 3 months ago, just trying to find something to go riding with one of my kids. Turned out to be this '83 Royale with all the trimmings. Didn't know I was getting the best, strongest, and fastest dresser ever made (apologies to you second gen types). Fortunately bike had no major faults other than a few scratches and knicks and most of the side plastic is held on with cable ties, changed oil, filter, and synced the carbs and it runs like a top. As I said I've been watching the site and feel like I already know a bunch of you. Seems the closest to me is Silver Deer on Camano Island. To the rest of you, Thanks for all the excellent info I've picked up, and thanks for NOT being a bunch of (fill in blank) like some of those HD drivers. Enough for now, but anyone in the area can give me a call and we'll work something out.
  13. A website called web.archive.org has old versions of many websites from as far back as 1996. I did a search for the Venturers site and got to see some interesting threads from 2000 and 2001, back when we were one happy family and I still had a Venture! It was interesting reading that made me a bit nostalgic. There was one thread where I was boasting about only being 34. I wish I was 34! http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.venturers.org This link has a lot of discussions from 2001. http://web.archive.org/web/20010603194849rn_1/www.venturers.org/discus/ I did the search on the Venturers.org site and not this one because it was around longer ago.
  14. I know this has all been answered however I would really like some fresh comments for the following: 1. Does having the K&N filters and bubs slip on's require any jetting? 2. On the Bubs site, they only show "BUB Sleeper slip-on mufflers for the Yamaha Venture." Is this the only one that people are getting for the RSV's 3. A lot of people here have said they like the bubs but were too loud and took them off. On the Bubs site, they mention "The mufflers have removable baffles that can be packed to control your sound levels" If this is the case, why are people taking them off instead of adjusting the sound level? Does this procedure ruin the sound? Thanks to everyone that helps me with this. Greg
  15. I just got back from my first visit to the flight 93 memorial site. There was a lady ( a volunteer ) gave a presentation with pictures of the crew and passengers, giving a little background on some of them. A very moving experience as well as enlightening. She said that they have already archived 37,000 pieces of memorabilia left by visitors to the site. The actual impact area has been declared a mass grave site and is cordoned off. She had an artist's rendition of the future memorial that is supposed to start with a groundbreaking yet this year. If you have a chance to visit this memorial site, you will not be disappointed. I know I'll go back again in the spring and again when the memorial is completed. It's really difficult to explain what is going on right now as the visitors come in in busses, cars, van and motorcycles with many leaving tokens at the site. In walking around I noticed everything from St. Christopher medallions to an allen wrench and anything else you could imagine. Hats, flags, vests and every type of memento you could imagine. Something I wasn't aware of was that as the plane crested the knoll just prior to impact it was 40 feet off the ground, traveling 536 mph and upside down. Parts and pieces were found as deep as 35 feet. I glad I finally made it over there. God bless those heros on Flight 93 !!

  17. Brian Fries aka Friesman1 has offered up a Headlight modulator that he is not going to use. It is brand new in the package. It is a Pathblazer. Retail value of about $50.00. Now in order for someone to claim this unit there is a catch. Before I explain the catch, you need to know that the proceeds of this sale will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. If you have read previous posts about our efforts to raise money for St. Jude, you will know that others have had fundraisers to help with this cause. This year we raised $3,450.00. This brings our totals for the past 5 years close to $9,800.00. We not only raise funds this way but also by visiting the Mean Dog Tribute site where contributions can be made. If you want to have this for your own and help out the kids at St. Jude, all you have to do is make a $25.00 donation to the Mean Dog Tribute site. We only have one so the first person to post wanting to make a donation will receive this headlight modulator. The link for the Tribute site is at the bottom of this page in my signature. Thanks to Brian donating this item.
  18. hi all have been trying to link up to the diamond r web site from here and general search on yahoo. all i get is their banner with diamond r accesories, nothing else. can anyone give them a call or send me their phone # and i'll call them. don c.
  19. I'm new to the Venture and new to the site and enjoy them both. ECK was kind enough to send an invitation to the Rome meet and eat. My wife and I were late but we made it; met some high qualty people for sure. I have many years riding, mostly on a Goldwing. The Venture is completely different and a joy to ride but my butt is killing me. I mean actual tail bone pain. I flew to Cleveland on Labor Day Weekend bought a 2006 RSV and rode back to Atlanta. Great ride but after 45 minutes to an hour I was really hurting. Just a few minutes off the seat and I would feel better but I've ridden some long hours on the wing, including 800 and 900 mile days, and never had this kind of discomfort. I guess I have three options from what I see on the site. The seat modification by one of the memebrs, an airhawk cushion, or a Corbin seat? I really don't want to spend the money on the corbin right now but something has to give. Again, I appreciate all the hospitality. Thanks in advance, Distance Rider

    Tire order

Decided to try out the Elite 3 and when I went to order at southwestmoto I got a cetificate problem eror with the web site. I over-road it the first time but then there was an eror and the order didn't go thru. Tried again but got nervous about the message about a fake site stealing identity so I tried to look up a number to call and since they decided not to take phone orders they don't list their number. Well I have ordered 3 sets of tires from them and know that squid always recomends them because of what they did for Charlie, but they just lost my buisness, sorrry. First off you can't contact them about a problem since they have changed owners, second their prices are a bit high even with free shipping on 2. I tried american motorcycle tires next and the order went thru at app.$239 with shipping compared to 248 at southwest. Then got a notice the the rear tire is backordered for 3-4 weeks, they let me cancel the order. Checked another site and the rear was out of stock. Then denniskirk who I have used a bit over the years and last I looked they scarred me with that $5 per tire charge. Well it turns out that is the shipping and still was cheaper than anyone else at $224 total and change for both tires.
  25. I have seen this many times and I've been on the Yamaha site trying to figure it out and cannot seem to find it so I'm just going to ask. What is the difference between the "Royal Star Venture" and the "Royal Star Venture S"?
